NOTE: This awesome slowfox, played by the Orchestra directed by the great Henryk Gold, belongs to one of the biggest hits in history of a Polish song. It was composed by Stanisław (Samuel) Ferszko, who was one of the most talented young composers appearing on music stages of Warsaw in last years before the Second World War. Educated in piano in Warsaw Conservatory in class of Prof. Drzewiecki, he devoted his talent to a lighter music. After some time he spent in Vienna, he appeared back in Warsaw as a pianist in a dance orchestra of Julian Front. Ferszko also accompanied Wiera Gran - a quickly rising star of Warsaw chanson - and composed a few of her best songs (tango "Gdy odejdziesz" [When You're Gone] was a hit and it was recorded by a few other artists). Before he left Poland in 1938, he was also accompanist of Lucyna Szczepańska - a brightest star of Warsaw Operetta. In 1938 he broke his quickly reclining career in Poland and emigrated to Palestine, where he was engaged by a night club first in Tel Aviv, then in Jerusalem. This fortunate decision saved his life and acquired Israeli culture an important persona - Ferszko composed many songs considered now a part of the Israeli folk tradition!. In 1952 he went to USA, where he conducted the New York Symphony Orchestra. He died in Miami in 1990.

@RRS1980PL Dziękuję! To jest jedna z moich ulubionych piosenek. Zwłaszcza lubię malancholijno-ironiczne wykonanie Tadeusza Olszy, z jego niezapomnianym "i to jest życie, c'est la vie!"... Natomaist tu mamy znakomite wykonanie "do tańca" z elementami tanecznego jazzu pierwszej klasy. Ilekroś tego słucham, zawsze zdumiewa mnie wysoki poziom ówczesnych orkiestr tanecznych, zwłaszcza Henryka Golda. Naprawdę, nie mieliśmy się czego wstydzić przed światem.
Coś pięknego. To jest najlepsze wykonanie tego utworu. I ten aksamitny głos pana Wiliego (jaka szkoda że nie ma zbyt wielu jego płyt :( ) Dziękuję i pozdrawiam :)

@tango3721 Lana, you must remember the whole Polish text - and you know how witty and intelligent it was! After WW2 this song had one excellent interpretation by Tadeusz Olsza (it is available in YT) and also in 1960s by Bohdan Łazuka.
Hello Grzegorz - this slowfox is super good. I guess Schlechter could write the lyrics on par with Marian Hemar - clever and ironic - reflecting some reality (the negative one) regarding Love. Have a great day!

Thanks Genia! Your notes about Venice made me see again - after many years - Everett and Chris Walken in The Comfort For Strangers.How wonderful is Venise in that movie! And Rupert with Natascha Richardson..what a couple!However, now I see some imperfectioins. Was really Everett the best choice for that role?Isn't he too much an "English colonial officer" type?I'd prefer someone more surrending to juxtapose the aggresive madness of Walken.

@dzheger Hi D., yes, I remember our talk about Ferszko some time ago, a propos another uploading of his song. How fortunate that his name is one of the few survivors on that terrible, neverending list of Polish-Jewish musicians, Polish culture had lost during the Holocaust. We owe to him a few most beautifuil songs ever composed in Poland.
Nie wiem czemu swoim komentarzem kalasz tak piękną muzykę ale ,jest to po prostu smutne. Właśnie tym różnili się od nas tamci Polacy ,oni mieli styl nawet jeśli czasem byli antysemitami ty zaś jesteś prostakiem...
@bill3murr Bill, I'm glad that your Demanding Taste gives such high note to that rendition ::-)) Henryk Gold's band was, in my opinion, the hottest, the best jazzy dance orchestra in prewar Poland. Henry Wars plays more so to say "intellectual" music, while H.Gold usually gives us just a first class piece to dance on a highest European level

@LeRoi715 I feel the same pain in me whenever I watch these streets, houses, these well dressed and well manered people fulfilling the bars and cafes ot the Polish cities from long ago... So different from that aggressive crowd we can see now
