The sample is from Melanie Safka (known simply as Melanie). She was a massive star in late 60s early 70s. She was one of only 3 solo female performers at Woodstock - the others were Joan Baez and Janis Joplin. Melanie died in January this year - R.I.P.

That's a great reaction!🔥 I'm sorry about your dad.💔 Ren's Demos 1 and 2 were written when he was very ill and recorded from his bedtomb. The poetry in those tracke are insane. Penitence, Heretic, Crutch and Insomnia are some of my faves right now. Lots of wordplay, great lyricism cadences and flows.

My condolences, I'm so very sorry for your loss. Remember that grief is a journey and it continues with us until we join them. It comes in waves and sometimes you feel like you're lost at sea. I lost my cousin to fentanyl 3 years ago and a devastated me. I found Ren and his music and it changed everything. He was the companion in the darkness that I needed So I hope you continue with this journey you won't regret it! I’m sorry that you lost your Father 😢. I lost both my parents and my brother in 4 years. It knocked me off my feet. I’m still grieving 13 years later. It does get better. I also live with awful chronic pain and when I’m stressing too much, the pain knocks me off my feet. Many hugs and look forward to more Ren.

Yes more Ren! Great reaction! Very genuine and heartfelt! Yes Ren sings too! He has a huge catalog of all different genres including Rap, HipHop, Raggae, blues, rock etc ! He also plays classical guitar and electric guitar and bass guitar and piano and drums! He makes all his own beats, edits his own stuff...he does it all
So many of Ren’s songs are exceptional and I always forget about this one so thank you for showcasing it. I chuckle because you have no idea how many times you will say, “I didn’t expect that!” as you explore Ren’s musical goldmine. I relate so much to your comments. I lost my Dad unexpectedly when I was 23… I was in the denial stage for at least a year because the loss so jarring. Grief is a roller-coaster for sure. And yes, music is Ren’s therapy and lucky for us, he shares it with the world. His Demos Volume 2 album is a favorite for me, but you won’t go wrong exploring anything Ren does. My advice, don't judge the way you grieve. I locked myself in a room for 2 years and listen to Ren, and NF, who's also an amazing artist with an amazing emotional journey. They can put into words what we can't articulate, it's kind of mind-blowing. And the bravest thing you can do is walk through the fire of grief you'll come out the other side and amazing human being! so even when you're scared keep going, and take all the time you need❤

I lost my dad to a heart attack,died an hour before newyears day,I still am lost .was taking care of him for 7 yrs .lived with him, he was my best .
What kills me is that I never got to tell my dad how much I love n appreciate him n what’s crazy is that I was looking for flights that same week n my last text to him was on apr 18 telling him I love him n he passed away the next day

As you discovered, you can’t go wrong with Ren. It doesn’t matter how old the song is, it is worth checking out. One of my absolute favourite Ren songs, Crutch feat. Bibi, is off his first album Freckled Angels. Which is also has the song with the same title that you should definitely check out before you get to Suic!de and For Joe. Ren does get better and better, but he was already great when he first released music. I think we’re going to have to come up with some new adjectives in a few years if he keeps levelling up 😂
Anyway sorry about your dad 🫂 I lost mine way back when I was just 17 and it can definitely be hard to even just wrap your head around and figure out how you feel. Grief is complicated and can present itself in many ways. I hope you find some comfort in the Ren rabbit hole at least 🖤🐰🕳️

I'm sorry about your father. My mother passed away 4 years ago from a 4 year battle with cancer. It still hurts so much. It does get easier with time only because you don't think about it as much but it's too painful to lose a parent or a child go away but you find ways to cope and music is and has always been the best way for me. I'm glad you are liking Ren this much. He has so much to offer. He's not just a musician he IS music. He has music in so many genres. His band the big push is amazing and his collabs with other independent artists are also amazing. Then those friends have awesome music. So we (Renegades) will be watching your journey and right there with you my friend

Feel for you man, I lost one of my son's in March, still V hard coping but the wife is worse. Chat to the channels is also therapy, nice and healthy. If you like this try Other earlies like Hold On and Crutch if you have not already. Hold on perhaps, crutch is quite a suffering song.

So sorry about your dad, I lost mine in February and as a 56 yr old daddy’s girl I am devastated. He passed 9 days before my birthday, he was 89 and in good health for his age so it was a shock.

I'm so sorry about your dad. You are grieving. Allow yourself all the time you need. The pain never really goes away, but it does get softer somehow. Both of my parents are gone and I lost my husband unexpectedly last Easter (2023). I know something about grieving. I still am. I may be grieving for another year. Who knows? Everybody has their own timeline. I found Ren and his music about 6 or 7 months ago. It truly has been healing for me. The one song that hit me the hardest is How To Be Me. Somehow Ren wrote words that spoke to my soul and expressed exactly how I feel. I'm tearing up just thinking about it. Let it go and cry those tears. They cleanse your soul. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
