Being able to toss them in the furrow with the eyes up is an acquired skill. The first time you do it like that you have to walk back down the row and right about half of them. Love you two! Danny and Wanda- y’all are what makes me proud to be from the south. Hard workers- kind- and proud of life style- you make homesteading real. Thanks for sharing the hard work and not only showing the harvest!
I’ve been noticing a lot of our southerner gardeners have been planting root crops in July/ August lately. So many trying to produce as much as possible these days. Have you ever done that? Thoughts?
I like how your trying to make a sustainable potato just in case you can't buy the seedlings. Awesome you pray over your garden cause the God Lord provides for those who ask. Great thumbs up video.
I love the attention to detail you give your garden. I'm a fellow gardener always looking for new ideas and creative ways of doing things. Survival of the fittest should actually be survival of the smartest. May the Lord bless our efforts.
God bless you and increase your harvest. We will soon be moving to our home. Not a homestead but in a rural area where I will be able to plant and grow our food. Can’t wait to show you all. I will do my best to apply all I’ve learned watching your channel.
Can't believe y'all planting... our ground froze still. We save from year to year, haven't bought tators for the last 4 years... watching you got me itching to garden..
Thanks for the tip on the Epsom Salts, I just might incorporate that in mine this year. I saved back small potatoes from last year to try to do the same thing you are, grow my own seed potatoes. My favorite potato on Earth is Nicola and they are not available locally. I've always bought them online, but the price of them online is scary. Here in central OK I have found that the best time for me to plant is mid March. I planted them Feb 21 four years ago and had to cover 10 rows 75' long of potato plants by hand to keep the plants from freezing. Saved the plants but was not a fun job. Thanks again, excellent video...
Hey Danny do Wanda we are also out here this weekend in NE Texas planting our potatoes I'm praying for a great harvest this year also. We only had about 250 lbs so this year we also are Shooting for 450 to 500 lbs so wish us luck too. God Bless Y'all

I've got two grown kids I share with and others. I don't grow quite as much as y'all but close. We're still eating plenty of last year's bounty, canned and frozen. Had pink eye peas, potatoes and green beans last night, all canned. Everybody always tells me I grow too much, but this time of year they're glad! :)
We are going to try the ones left from last year too. They have sprouted better than the years before. I want to see how well your are going to do this year. I'm in Texas zone 8 and we have sandy loam too. Interest to see if there is any difference. I am also planting Red Lasoda and some white potatoes.
Just dug a good crop of potatoes last week and decided to replant July 1 as an experiment. I've done this before with mixed results but you can never have enough potatoes.

Nice video from Danny & Wanda. I live in Scotland and I'll shortly be planting 40 tubers in my small vegetable patch and probably a couple of dozen more in bags and pots. The variety is Charlotte. This variety was developed in Normandy, France back in 1981. We've grown them a few times and they're a lovely waxy kind of potato, very tasty, great all rounders, nice for salads, or along with anything else you like on your plate. If you can get them Stateside, it's worth giving them a try. They are so yummy!

Hello Danny and Wanda. Glad you've shared this. I have some potatoes planted already and notice some yellow leaves. Now I know what I need to do. I had quite a few small potatoes saved to plant. Some shriveled up and looked aweful so only planted the ones that looked good. I definitely will be attempting to save more this year again. It's good to see a couple working together in their garden. My wife and I have gardened since 1981, but just started growing potatoes about five years ago. We believe in safe food grown by GOD with a little help from us. Thanks for the video.
I give mine a little sulfur powdering before planting. I just put them in a tub and shake them around to get a coating of the powder. It seems to keep the bugs from chewing them and creating a wound for bacteria to get in. I still get a little rot but not as bad. it's more of a repellent.
OkieRob With our sandy soil we dont usually have much trouble with rotting unless it rains a lot. No insect problems so far but times are changing. Thanks

I just discovered something weird. Many farmers, the ones who grow big agribusiness, Monsanto, do not put out gardens to feed themselves and family. They buy their food from the grocery store. I don't know if this is because it would contaminate their garden but am told that many do not know how to grow their own food anymore. If SHTF, American farmers would starve to death. Next time you're out driving somewhere and you see a big farm, look for their garden.
