This was a nice clip and very nostalgic for me. I had forgotten how easy these old bikes were to lean over to where the hard parts meet pavement! I rode a 1974 CB750K4 in the day. Also had a CB360T put some miles on a CB550 and a CX500 and that is just about half of my Honda list. I liked the part when the camera faced back watching the Kawasaki, gave a real sense of the ride. I love my current ride ('03 ZX9R) but miss the oldies. May you never loose the joy.
The CB500 lacked performance but was very reliable. The H2 acceleration was like nothing I've ever experienced - even with more powerful modern bikes. It just delivers its power so brutally.
The early H1 was known as 'The fastest camel', after a review in Bike magazine . The H2 was known as 'the widowmaker'.
Lovely view over the front of this bike, and it sounds gorgeous too
Great video, just bought a 1972 CB 500 super sports cafe racer, can wait to pick it up in a week.
Thank you for uploading this great vid. Unfortunately I had to sold my 3 motorcylces from 2005 to 2009 so I have no motorcycle since 3 years. One of them was a Honda CB 500 Four. The sound of the engine is fantastic. Never drove with a H2 but it's one of the finest designed bikes too.
2 der schönsten Motorräder!!
As soon as I heard the bike fireup at the beginning -- without even seeing it, I knew it was the Honda and not the kawa. A 70's Honda 4 cyl has the most unique sound among all motorcycles. It's beautiful. Great video, brother.
Two great Bikes, what more can you say
Very nice footage. Fantastic place to ride, your CB 500 Four looks to be in great condition with a awesome engine sound, great cam recorder, congrats and thanks for share. Regards from Rio de Janeiro. Brasil.
awesome video. I love your dash, its gorgeous
the 500 was a very nice well balanced machine keep them up on pipe about 4000 rpm and they were ready to go yes the 2 stroke triples could smoke anything and were very neat motorcycles..as for the CB 500 I purchased one in 1973 with only 1000 miles on her I still own it today march 2019 and yes I ridden many motorcycles some stupid fast but I still love to ride the 5ive its smooth fast enough gets plenty of attention and does not flex when ridden hard into the corners any way love this video mid January its nice to here vintage rice burners both 2 and 4 strokes
Back in the 80's used to ride my 1973 H-2 with 3 other H-2's and one guy had a Honda 550 ..... straightaways , twistys , it didn't matter what roads we were riding on , that guy on the 550 always ended up way in the back .
So when did the "vs" happen? All I saw was two guys on a joy ride. No one was competing....
fk you trump
Lovely video. Thank you. I`m 71 now and this reminds me of riding my Tiger 110 back in 58/9. 9-1 pistons and E3134 cam. etc. Last bike!! Don`t laugh.. it was a RG 500 Suzuki. Still got a copy of the manual. Pretty quick that one was. Oh! to be young again. Keep safe. Thanks again and good luck. Good wishes. MIKE.
That's the way all bikes should be driven...very nice locations...congratulations your friend and you have nice bikes!
thanks guys brings -back memories
This is how classic bikes should be ridden.. respectfully with tons of fun.
DROVE BOTH -BIKES AND LOVED BOTH OF THEM
Very nice video! Sound of this Honda reminds me a lot of my Z 500.
Wonderful video - great bike - excellent locations- all the best

Ottima modo il percorso. Complimenti per la moto!!
Thanks for the info; figured the clubman bars would come strenuous after a while, and leaning in that position would do the same. Thanks again!
I had a yoshimura Honda 500 4, done by a previous owner, a great bike, but I've also had had 3 Kawasaki triples not a H2, but the performance from those 2 strokes engine, truely mind blowing.
That's true. Two stroke engines are very powerful, but they are tricky to keep them on the road. The chassis of the older Kawa wasn't as good as the one of the Honda back in that time.
I guess the H2 rider was obviously not keen to risk dropping it but, GET THE TAPS OPEN MAN!! Did not even get near the power band.
@zestydude87
The CB500 Four I bought in 1975 and I still ride on it :)
Those old kawis scream man!
Many thanks for your kind comment. Much appreciated !!!
a lot better than watching a new exhaust being revved at a standstill for 1 minute lol grazzi Jack
Thank you for your kind comment. You might be right that in your opinion the Katana from 1982 is YOUR favorite ... mine is my 1975 CB500Four which I purchesed it in 1975 and I ride it until today ツ
@diegoz89 Grazie per i complimenti :)
il doppio disco ho montato nel 1978. penso che sul ebay ne trovi ancora.
I love the 500/4 but against the triple he may as well park it - which is what he did later in the clip. I had a 400 triple which would smoke anything up to a CB750, held its own against a Suzi GS750 too....
Nice video, nice bikes. Greetings from sunny Jamaica.
Many thanks for your kind comment, which I greatly appreciate !!!
Grazie ... Thanks Colin ツ
Well, this is the soft version in comparison to the ride with the Guzzi V7 !!
best regards, WJ
Many thanks for your great comment. Well, you might be right. Here in Europe are still many classic bikes on the road ... especially in Italy. Many clubs also here in Germany. It's very nice to drive in Italy on secondary roads like this. Less traffic and less police (ツ).
Many thanks "Four" your compliments !!!
NICE!!!!!!!! Love Them AIr Cooled 4's
both -bikes -sound -so sweet
he he ... as you might have noticed, the right indicator were missed and that's the reason to kick out my leg :)
good to hear that you've enjoyed the ride !
Your welcome. I had an 81 GPZ550 .. great bike, leaked gas everywhere though sold it got my money back on it. I am huge Honda Fan though Honda is the best !. .. I found an 88 VTR250 (USA) Mint hoping to pick up next week.a absolutely love the the CB160's Would love to see pics or video of your bike. like the mirror treatment too nice and clean.
I love the CB500 Four and your one is just... whaouh !!! ;)
Thank you for your compliments, which I really appreciate. _Best regards, WJ_
Many thanks Lanny, for your cool comment. Best regards from Germany
Thanks !!!
This year I will try the new GoPro with external microphone, so the sound must be much better.
great ride, very very nice!!!
This region of Italy is really beautiful for riding a motorbike.
Thanks for your comment !!!
Obrigado por seu grande comentário e seus elogios. Saudações da Alemanha.
Loved my 500 Four. i shouldve never sold it! Great bike man!
got 1970 all ogn. mack 111 500 kawasaki 17000 ong. mill for sale garage kept for sale for more info 1-269-718-9505 or message 1-269-858-3191 after 5;00 p.m
That's true however, (i owned two H2's) a stock h2 is hard to take through corners, it looked like that h2 was (beautiful)) stock and possibly a really good rider on the 500 could keep up on those roads. I was amazed how that guy was riding his h2 through those turns. Totally awesome video, kind of felt like I was there.
merci pour ce trip...
Auch ein sehr tolles Video !
many thanks bro !!!
@StarlinerMVS Thank you for your kind words.
You might be right ... but for this brief tour, we went in jeans. With a comfortable speed.
Grazie!
Good sound!
Oh my GOD! This is me on a day out!! No idiocy, just a day out on the bike. No Versus versus versus, either!!!!!
Gracias. Mira mi nuevo video, ya que todavía hay más de este punto de vista hermoso paisaje :)
What a road. I would love to ride there. My personnal ride is a 100% original CB-500K1 and I love it.
hermoso paisaje....saludos de Mexico ...
I had one of the 500 four Hondas back in the 70's and it was almost new and got my ass kicked by everything I puilled up to,,,but Id give anything to have it back and loved it,

Well I have had my share of bikes including 2 CB 740 Fours..and I must admit I am impressed by the performance of the 500 Four...it goes well. :)
Very very nice video
Hi WildJack, where're you from? I saw your answer in Portuguese. Great bike and great place to ride. The sound is like music. Nice video, congrats and greetings from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.
me too, but now I'm 57 years old and I like to live some years longer.
btw. Take a look at my other video where I'm going together with the Guzzi V7 and neat open the throttle ... GAAAAS !!!
It's a Ducati 65S with cantilever rear suspension.
The video was shot with the GoPro HD
Thanks for your comment !!!
Bought a 1974 CB 500 new, fit me perfectly. Made the mistake of trading it in for a 1976 CB 750, nice bike but top heavy, not as manoeverable, especially with a kid and sissy bar wrapped with tent, sleeping bag, pots, etc. for our cross Canada trip
True enough - out of all the bikes I ever had, that 3 cylinder 500 cc 2 stroke was undoubtedly the scariest. The little bicycle tube frame used to flex and twist like nothing you ever felt. The front wheel would LEAP off the ground just by twisting the throttle in 3rd...they didn't call them "widowmakers" for nothing!
nice drive
damn ace -driving guys
it depends on which "rubber" you have on the bike and at which temperature you will get it to work good.
nice ride
hhaha ...best bikes of all times ! stammi bene , e preparra la moto per il prossimo anno ... augurii e saluti cordialii da un motociclisto vero ! R.
they just named the thread wrong - lol !! its a cool video - I had a 72 GT 550 triple , how I wish I Had a video of that bike !!
ace driving
Totally Honda serving video
I remember several mates with Honda 750's and H2's in 1972 , doing their own comparison
They were all equally good riders
It wasn't the same as this video portrays
old school rulezz !! i m a proud owner of two Suzuki 1100 Katana from 1982... what can i say ... nothing compares ... you can see it in my vids .. Cheers and safe ride ! R.
thanks great video
great bikes !
_Thanks !!!_
Superbes, absolument superbes.
thank you very much
Hi. Thank you for your nice comment, which I really appreciate.
I'm German and this video was made during the HONDA4FUN meeting in Italy. My Portuguese was translated from gOOgLe (ツ)
You're completely right. Thr ride was 4 fun and not "Four" race ツ
Thanks for your kind comment !!!
these guys drive a good bike
@Doyesimons No place on my bike (it's a one seater) but maybe on the Kawa :)
btw. next meeting at Cereglio (Italy) will be at 18-20 May 2012
You're welcome :)
this is great thanks
Thank you !
Very Nice!
the only time an h2 sucks is on a really short road when the front wheel is in the air i have literally grabbed so much front brake i ran the front end into the ground ...better than hitting traffic from a side street doing a wheelie, i miss my drag rail 220 lbs wet with chambers and 5th gear delete for a spare neutral just in case...wheelie bars kept the front wheel on the ground that bike was frightening
Not a race, but thanks for posting. The fact that it wasn't a race reminded me of an experience on my H2 back in the 70's. It was common to pull up to a stoplight, have another bike pull up, with the rider nodding-as if he wanted to race. And I raced many of them, particularly the CB750 riders, for some reason. Everyone knew the H2's reputation in the early to mid 70's-and they all wanted to see what it could do. Just drag-racing. It became tiresome after a while. And also put my driver's license in jeopardy. Anyway, while stopped at a stoplight one day, a bike(Honda 4 of some sort) pulled up next to me-the guy's got a huge grin-and he was screaming-"I ALMOST CAUGHT UP WITH YOU!" I was surprised since I didn't even know he was behind me, so quite honestly and totally naturally I said "I didn't know we were racing". He got an incredulous look on his face-so I just had to drop the clutch, spread-eagle over the bars with my feet on the back pegs to keep the front end down, and proceed to pull the front end up at every gear change after that to make sure he knew that I was telling the truth. Ahhh, youth.
No, only if I have have to go very slow. Otherwise no problem. More painful on long rides is my single-seater bench, which you can see on my channel background.
cheers WJ
Very nice...
@NPMCaptain Thank you very much. Good to hear, that you liked it.
It was a pleasure to ride over the hills in this area (south of Bologna - Italy).
In May 2012 I'll be there again shooting more onboard videos.
