For me, I think sky kids were once normal humans living in the city of gold (Golden Wasteland) or El Dorado, and in this city, they have a palace called Eden where only those with pure hearts can step foot but if there was one with dark intensions, it would immediately open the eye of eden which turns everyone it comes into contact, to stone similar to that of Medusa. Soon, thieves came and entered eden, this activated the eye which emitted a red light and turned everyone to stone. People began to evacuate into the Ark that flies to the sky until they arrived to floating islands on the clouds which are now inhabited by them. This happened a long time ago, and now, the Ark was long forgotten thus the name Forgotten Ark. The humans arrived on the first island "Isle of Dawn", where they are given trials and rewarded with winged lights which enables them to fly, stops aging and now called sky kids as they are eternally children. These kids travel to all the islands and grow until when they are strong enough, they try to find out what happened that day back to the former El Dorado or what we call Golden Wasteland now. The vault of knowledge records all of the happenings everyday and they discover all the knowledge of the world and that a winged light can save those who are turned to stone but in exchange, the sky kid runs out of light and becomes a sacrifice for many people. Because of this heroic deed, they go to the orbit and become stars. After hundreds of years, they are reborn as sky kids again
I knotised that in forest you enter a sunny area that gets darker in every stage and after completing it you enter a calm and beautiful area with trees and bright grass representing your late teens as you begin to realize even if there are bad things there is still hope and a possibility for a better future 🤔😁😁 Sorry for the long comment 😬

To the two people asking w it's not really written anywhere, but it's painted on the wall at several places in game, kind of mentions by dev here and there, you can see some stuff in old concept design they show us and other stuff like this. What i think about SPIRITS : Spitrits might be the lost villagers of each realm after darkness rules all dissapeard and thats why we are the to save each spirit in each realm they will give things each time you farther in your head the more you explore the more you know what happens in life. About Winged lights : Maybe they are the kids of the past that have seen the the darkness the destroy everything, as soon as we come as a skykid we begin are life sering the world for the first time the children of the past will give their last bits of their power for you to remove the darkness away from the world, they will be waiting in the light so they can thank you for everything us skykids did.
I think like the star kids (Bright thingy we collect in our journey) are the ones that empowers us and strengthen us in our journey, they give us courage and makes our cape/wing stronger. Not true I guess, just my opinion.
It's been confirmed that the Edens we see in the different realms are all Eden in different timelines. That could mean that all the realms are actually one place at different points in time. Showing how sky was at the beginning all the way until it was destroyed and the current world of sky is the eye of Eden. The sky kids are in a constant battle against the darkness but before they can fight it they have to go through all the realms which is the history, freeing the spirits trapped in time by darkness. Then freeing the spirits of sky kids who didn't make it in Eden in the current battle.
I like how the realms are like about someone's life, And it's confirmed that all the realms are from different times I'm wondering if it's recording the Prince's (Eden Elder) life journey like they were in isle when they were a baby, when they were a child they moved to isle, when they were a teenager they explored forest, etc I think it would be really neat if the sky realms were like glimpses into the life of the prince and what the land looked like at that time! (And if you don't know who the eden elder is, I'd suggest u look into it :) it's a super weird rabbit hole and I think the Season of Shattering will give us more hints)

To be honest I still think there is more actual lore. Like for example (this one is based of off a Nintendo trailer) I had this specific theory for quite a while. The reason why isle is snowy is because when an impact hits the ground obviously there’s going to be a lot of smoke and then clouds and it usually snows (those things could be an eden storm happening on realms. Well we’re having season of shattering so I guess I was right xd). The fact that the wasteland elder is the only one who has “stone hands” is probably because he has done something and this could be his curse (idk I’ve never seen him without these). Vault elder possibly having connection to the character you’re playing as in journey (such as a broken mask and even the mask looks pretty much the same). Journey ending where there’s only 6 white figures/ elders meaning isle, prairie, forest, 2 valley elders, wasteland. Krills being corrupted whales possibly dying. And some places look really similar to the one in journey. The main mountain at the end is probably the one in valley (where you go to a flying race). The two separated white figures from the scarf could be those two valley brothers, then they get reunited again as presented in the mural later and they’re back again (this could also explain their competitiveness towards each other). Tho there might probably not be many references to journey or maybe they’re just accidental but still, I have a lot more but I don’t wanna get in detail lol

my theory on the statues and winged light: 157 sky children were created. 87 of them are the winged light. 63 are the statues in Eye of Eden. the remaining 7 are the elders. they were created at the same time and set into Isle of Dawn. the realms were all in grayscale at the time of creation. the elders would later prune the realms to look like what they are today. and all of the sky children were bald at this time, looking the same. anyways, after they were set in isle, they began to spread out across the realms, making friends and having fun. they stayed like that for a few months. the young elders wanted to see what the light was in the distance and kept heading closer to it. some other sky children asked where they were going, and followed them
after they had amassed a sort of entourage among the realms, they were very close to realizing what the bright light in the distance was. at the time, eden had no wingedight lock on the door, and any skykid could go in at any point. however, nobody went in because it was currently the only spot that inhabited krills. wasteland elder would eventually place danger in his realm. so the young skykids ventured into eye of eden, keeping their light active and staying together by holding hands. some were hit by rocks but soon were rekindled. then they reached the point of no return, which didnt have the warning yet. some of the sky children got scared and stayed in the hall there to wait for the others after they got back. the rest went into eye of eden and could not go back. there were rocks flying and only small structures like rocks to protect from. the pyres didnt exist yet. the courageous children walked into the rocky hail. they went in groups. some died quickly because they lost their light. i should probably mention, they had one wedge. their numbers diminished until only a small number was left. they paused right before the relentless rain. as they mustered up their nerve, they plunged into the rain. they did not stop running and could not rekindle each other

the new elders realized that there were seven of them and seven realms. however, they all agreed that nobody alone should rule over death, and they would all rule over eden along with their respective realms. they chose their realms (the valley twins technically counted as one, since they held hands during the walk in the eye of eden. they brought color to their realms, and created the first generation of skykids by taking a star from the skies. (they chose a hairstyle because they did not like being bald.) they changed the traditional outfit to something less hindersome. and they changed their outfits to their taste. the spirits that are seen today were the inhabitants of the kingdom of sky that died in a disaster, but no record of what disaster it was exists. the elders decided to have the sky children relive the spirit memories to have some semblance of a regular life that humans used to live. other info: skykids inhabit clay sculptures. the original children inhabited stone. candles and hearts were made as the currency because it was related to the light of the children and was easy to access. books were scarce after the disaster, and the remaining ones were kept in the starlight desert of the vault of knowledge. lamps and such replaced books on the shelves in the vaults main interior.
