Thanks for your excellent review ..I actually saw Shaft when it 1st came out in 1971. .it was a game changer ..it's influnce was broad & wide esp in film making afterwards... Gordon Parks is one of my hero's.. At the City college I was at we did a Shaft themed fashion show. It was a great success including with the music from the soundtrack album I just decided to upgrade to a 4K tv soon. So Shaft will be one of the 1st 4k DVD's that I will get. I have a small collection of Blu-rays by Criterion. But did not know about this release. Thanks again....
No problem and thank you for watching our review! This was one of those films I always heard about she i’m glad criterion put the time in for this because it’s so important and ahead of it’s time.
Hi John. Just came across your channel and subscribed. Great review of "Shaft", which I'll be grabbing next week if the B&N sale happens on schedule. If you drop Criterion an e-mail (and mention that you have a TH-cam channel), I'm sure they'll be happy to send you a new booklet. They're usually pretty good with that stuff.
Thank you for letting me know that O appreciate that. I wouldn’t of even thought to go that route and thanks for subscribing we really appreciate the support!
@@megamikethemovieman Hi. The list keeps growing but "Double Indemnity" is high on the list, along with "Army of Shadows", "The Lodger" and "Memories of Murder", just to name a few.
@@island007100 Double Indemnity and Memoirs of a Murder are on my list too. I also have a bunch of others I’m most likely going to get too like Raging Bull on 4K. I cover lots of collection/haul videos and physical media news/topics on my channel, feel free to stop by my friend to enjoy some videos and so we can talk more movies.
Yeah I just copped this also love it for one thing it's missing Shaft in Africa Criterion should have put all 3 films in here since the 3rd film isn't everyone's favorite they should've included it also doesn't matter to me since I own all 3 on dvd
it’s definitely better now but the city compared to others is still not the greatest well the streets them selves at least loll. I couldn’t believe how it looked though just everything run down.
Great review, Talk. Yeah, "Shaft" was hugely important, and entertaining in 1971, and it remain so today, 51 years later.
I agree I knew how impossible it was but it’a still a great movie to watch and is an ahead of it’s time action movie!

What other movies are you planning to pickup in this criterion sale?

I’m going to go poor when the 50% off sale starts loll. I agree the list is never ending.

Yea I thought that was a strange call to not include that. I get not putting anything after that but the Richard Rountree ones would of made sense.
Oh no! I hate that you lost the booklet. That’s usually my favorite part of any physical media if it has one. Great review as always!
Thanks I appreciate it. Yea I’ll be honest i was a little upset about that hopefully I can buy it on ebay later down the line.
Do you have a lot of criterion’s in your collection?
A pretty good amount actually
All 70s' N.Y. movies looked like a crap city. It wasn't till 90s' when they got a Republican mayor that it got its glamour.
