    Hi, I liked your detailed explanation of the maneuver. In other videos I watched, the head is rolled from the first side position to the up position first. I noticed in your video the head is rolled straight to the other side. I am now confused as to which method is right. Could you please explain ?

    • @Physiotutors

      We based our description on the guideline of Bhattacharyya et al. (2017), so it's completely up to date.
      Don't think it does matter anatomically to be honest anyways. Some describe the BBQ roll with the nose up position (so no side-lying on the affected side) first.

    Very nice informative videos. Do you also have the videos for the Roll test; Epley Maneuver, and the Semont Maneuver? I came across videos only for Dix-Hallpike; Barbecue Maneuve and Gufoni Maneuver! Kindly share links if you have the videos for Roll test; Epley Maneuver, and the Semont Maneuver. Thanks and Best regards.

    what is the symptoms of lateral bppv?

  • @thomazsam1
    @thomazsam1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    How many times this is should be repeated. I was recommended by a Dr. to do perform more than 50 turns(maneuvers), while it was very arduous but I did do this maneuver in the anticlockwise direction as informed. This helped for a few days, but I see signs of return so would be great to know how many reps I should be doing whenever I get this symptom.

    • @gmailuser3377
      @gmailuser3377 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nystagmus is just one of the symptoms. Dizziness is the more prominent symptom. So, if you experience dizziness but not nystagmus, it is still a positive test for BPPV.

    • @SoosooCom
      @SoosooCom 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gmailuser3377 my doctor didn’t see the nystagmus and informed me this is not related to inner ear problems it is more likely brain issues and this is because there is no nystagmus when he tested me

    Tried it twice after a negative Dix Hallpipe and a positive supine head turn (left side, geo) but no joy. Will try Gufoni tomorrow I guess. Disappointed

    • @Physiotutors
      @Physiotutors  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could indeed be lateral BPPV and the BBQ or Gufoni are certainly an option.
      If you don't get further with those maneuvers you could think about seeing a GP or physio as they could help to evaluate the origin of your dizziness which could be something else than BPPV as well.

    • @benw4079
      @benw4079 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Physiotutors Thanks. GP already suggested Brandt Daroff exercises. We'll do those if Gufoni doesn't help. It's been 12 weeks of debilitating vertigo that has only settled enough to do tests and manoeuvres in the last week or so, even with medication.

    • @Physiotutors
      @Physiotutors  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Brandt Daroff exercises are less effective compared to the canalith repositioning maneuvers according to literature. Hope the maneuvers will help you.

    • @benw4079
      @benw4079 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Physiotutors Hi. Thanks for your reply. The Gufoni did nothing - didn't even trigger vertigo. Gone back to the BBQ roll. Did it twice more and it does trigger vertigo, but not on the first step any more. There's increasing vertigo severity at each positional change, particularly face down, but less nystagmus this time. Added the optional extra step, otherwise getting up triggers vertigo. Hasn't solved the problem yet. Oddly the supine turn test now has a stronger reaction on the other side! Could it be in both ears?
      It's actually my brother, not me. He has severe M.E (CFS) and is mostly bed bound, so this is the last thing he needs! Thanks.

    head to right is wrong, you start with head straight. head to the right move otoliths to cupula, you want to move them away from the cupula. practice with a inner ear model what happens during manoeuvre

    • @Physiotutors
      @Physiotutors  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We based this video on the clinical practice guideline of Bhattacharyya et al. (2017):www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28248609
      Like mentioned in the video "some recommend to roll the head to the affected side".
      The important part of the video is what follows after. The video is certainly not wrong.
