      That'lll depend on the size of your enclosure and the temperature of the room. Generally, we use a 50-100w.

    Dp you have a video of how you modified your freezer?

    • @JoshsFrogs
      @JoshsFrogs  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Marco Lucero I do not, but it was pretty simple. I installed an incandescent socket in the bottom, which held a ceramic heat emitter. That was hooked up to a thermostat mounted on the outside, with the probe on the inside of the freezer. There was also a fan at the bottom to keep air circulated.

    After the eggs are layed what happens with the adults in the same tank?

  • @johncoast
    @johncoast ปีที่แล้ว

    When Zack pulls out the egg laying bin he puts the paper towel on top and snaps the lid tightly shut. Don’t the eggs need ventilation during incubation?

    • @nightstepstation7189
      @nightstepstation7189 ปีที่แล้ว

      Clearly not as shown but the paper towel between the lid does more than than keep the humidity inside, it gives the container ventilation. Don’t need an incubator for crickets btw. It’s dry as fuck in Texas yet there’s a spot I know that has thousands of Jerusalem crickets (the ones in the video) in the wild. Someone obviously dumped them since they’re domesticated and cannot fly and are grey but they can infact breed and hatch without high humidity. Where I am has 40% humidity 🤷‍♂️

    are your crickets already breed? was thinking abt buying

    • @bettertomorrow2625
      @bettertomorrow2625 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not if they are ¾". He said in the video that the full sized (1" crickets) are already bred before being shipped, so order ¾" if you want to breed them. I always get ¾" so they live longer and sure enough, they start chirping within about 4 or 5 days after receiving them. With shipping time, that makes them a week older than when they were packed for shipping. They wouldn't have bred before that. I've bought crickets from Josh's frogs for years and the size they send is pretty accurate. I just haven't tried breeding them yet, but it gets expensive having 1,000 crickets shipped every 3-4 weeks so I am thinking about giving it a shot.

      Are they supplied with damp vermiculite to lay their eggs in? You may occasionally be able to observe females with their ovipositor inserted into the vermiculite when they are laying.
