I came across "Great Big Rollin' Railroad" a couple of days ago for the first time. Being german I never heard it before. Now I cannot get it out of my head. Even in this video I hear it all the time.
I guess this is another handy reason to bring along a road switcher: something properly equipped to do any switching work wherever they stay the night. Reminds me of my model train layout, too: having to break up trains to fit them all into a yard. :) It was rather eye opening whenever I used Google Maps "measure" tool to measure what looked like a really tight real-world radius and converted the measurement to HO. Model trains are basically folding in half and turning on a dime!
Jefferson City is the state capital; you can see the Capitol on the hill overlooking the RR yard. Many people in Missouri refer to Jefferson City simply as "Jeff City."
They got a pretty good head of steam built up in order to get going and they're just releasing it in order to maneuver around the yard then when they start going they they close off the valves to bring it up to 300 lb of pressure so they can run
Big boy 4014 is a really awesome steam locomotive 🚂 that’s for sure 😎 I love it 😍.

I know this video is 2 years old but I absolutely love Big Boy #4014
For the 12 dislikes, watch diesel electrics all day
Probably form Envirowhackos who don't like Big Boy's "carbon footprint" ;)
"Drill?" Literally never heard that before. Must be some drool cup eastern railroad slang.
All this smoke/steam/fog looks like special effect.
Can't wait for the Illinois/Missouri section.
it's up
On the former Missouri Pacific Rails.

Great video
Great video!
Great footage!
~20:00 you can see someone's drone! Would love to see that video!!!!
Nice ancient things
Any explanation as to why certain passenger cars were disconnected from the consist?
the consist would not have fit entirely in the siding if they had left it put together.
Thank you for the explanation. That siding looked rather short.
Cylinder packing leaking or is that steam release at the front normal on a Big Boy?

cylinder cocks are open for this whole video.
Any idea on the reason they left 45 minutes late? Just took to long to put it back together or mechanical problem?
That's just how long it took.
Was thinking the same. When I was there the crew in the cab looked like they were having issues.
Hey Fan railer! Do you have a discord server? If so, am I able to join?
Is the diesel helping with the pushback?
Yes. In the mornings, before the 4014 is fully warmed up, they will use the diesel to assist with jockeying moves like this.
