Ian said it would get weirder .... 👽 👽 The saga continues....Who said kustoms were easy? Ian Roussel has rethought the seating position and customized it to fit both function and aesthetic.
There are no rules in car customization, and if there was a rule it would be to go as far outside of the box as your fabrication skills can take you. Ian envisioned a simple and radical solution to this style of door opening. He walks himself and Jamie through the process, with pretty satisfying results. This is only the beginning. The backstory...
Ian has decided to lower this VW Beetle 6 inches to get it to the ground and start radically modifying this beat up 1968 VW Beetle, but like most things that were once going to find the fate of the crusher, he once again proves you can do some amazing things in your garage with some imagination, fearlessness and a willingness to make mistakes as you create. 🥴
His fascination stems from the seemingly limitless customization opportunities for this vehicle. Join Ian on a wild ride through his mind 👽 as he envisions then fabricates his most radical ideas to date.
Ian worked and studied at a bronze casting foundry as a young man, where he learned to create models, armatures, molds and finished sculptural artwork in all mediums and finishes. Ian is fascinated by the artistic process of sculpture. He brings this knowledge to his car customizations, to his TV show audience, and now he brings it to you, his growing TH-cam audience.

I do the same Elaine but with bicycles. I only ever drew a plan once but didn't follow it, lol. I have never built two exactly the same (around 200 bicycles so far). I did the majority of work on the 30 or so vehicles I've had too.

If u have never seen one of Ian TV shows. I would highly recommend that u do. Ian comes up with some unique ideas while building these customer vehicles. The ideas that Ian comes up with are 1 of a kind.

Your pipe bending reminded me, as a retired electrician, of one of my favorite things. Running concentric bends of different sized pipes in a pipe rack, matching curves and offsets. Love watching everything involved in the fabrication.

Have always enjoyed Ian's builds. I've been watching him for years. I still have a dvd when he built a rat rod with his steal toe boots as air vents.

I just have to congratulate Jamie on getting the videoproduction so good in all it´s simplicity, like turning the sound of Ian grinding down and putting some quite music in the background.
Seems like a no brainer to do but a lot of the big channels do the opposite and crank the music way up higher then the volume was so you want to turn it down but then when the person start talking again it´s too low and you have to increase the volume and it´s so stupid and you wonder about the person editing...
But Jamie is a smart person and understands this and kudos and thank you so much for great videos! :)

@@fullcustomIan Exactly and that´s why it´s so spot on and makes it so hard to understand why others don´t do it.
I think it has to do with that they are probably 20 somethings because it´s always some god awful EDM music or what they call it and i understand this makes me seem like a super-boomer (im only 38) but im ok with that when it comes to this thing.

Your tv show is nice because it's like we know we'll see the end product at the end of the episode, but this channel is so much better for guys like me who can get confidence in doing weird shit from watching the master at work, actually working through the whole process. It's cool that even if you spend a bunch of time one a certain aspect, you're never scared to scrap it and go a different way.

Watching you chop the door post reminded me of the the 57 Ford 2 door wagon that I turned into a convertible. I couldn't close the door until I jacked up the spot where the jamb used to be. I welded the door shut so the thing wouldn't sag. I just had to put a stack of newspapers on the seat if it rained. A single summer car.Life is easier when you're 19.

Just FYI, I've used thousands of those discs over the years. When you go up to 6", the Metabo Super Slicer is the only one to use. They don't get the "wiggles" like most others do. Well worth the extra cost. They seem to last longer too.

Maybe a good idea at this stage to get into a little ergonomic adventure to the inside to see how the seating arrangement and pedal assembly works and feels.... It is going to be great...so much is clear...

Very positive progress. I’m going with my suggestion/comment on Part 32 regarding the running board. That was to connect the door to the running board and in essence the r.b. and door will be one piece. The open ( and close) action will work and make getting in and out easier. Plus look different to say the least.
