    About this video:
Day 8 of New Zealand’s Biggest Gap Year brings us to Whitianga in the Coromandel Peninsula of New Zealand! We join the team at Dive Zone Whitianga to go scuba diving at Mercury Islands in the Coromandel! Awesome!
The day starts off with a stunning and sunny Coromandel drive to Whitianga where we then suit up for scuba diving at Dive Zone Whitianga. We jump in the boat and head out to do some scuba diving at the Mercury Islands! The marine reserve means marine life thrive here giving us plenty of chances to wash a fascinating array of fish in kelp forests.
This is our first scuba diving activity on New Zealand’s Biggest Gap Year and our eighth activity out of 365 Days: 365 Activities. We have a blast scuba diving in the Coromandel! Join us!

The dive at the Mercury Islands near Coromandel typically lasts about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the specific dive site, your experience and the conditions. As for the price, it can vary based on the dive operator and the type of dive (e.g., guided dive, equipment rental, etc.), but you can generally expect to pay around NZD $150 to $250 per dive.
For the most accurate and up-to-date information, it's best to contact local dive operators directly. They can provide you with details on dive durations, prices, and any packages they may offer.
