    I suffered the same thing like you did a month ago. It was the stage 3 TOW long group riding ! The leader kept 5.0 from beginning in the desert!! Everyone followed around 4wkg. I got dropped at same place as you did. Then I found out that I set the trainer's difficulty to high as 40% so that every short climbing hurt in the jungle! There is no way for me to keep 5wkg for another 2mins after that. So I changed my strategy on the other day: change the difficulty to 5 percent and riding at 4.4wkg for 4mins(no interval) as the leader of the group. It let me earn more time to rest before the long climbing. It is my unprofessional suggestion that might help you a little.

      Thanks Taylor! Yeah I tend to have my trainer difficulty set around 25%-50% depending on the course. If I set it much lower I sometimes can't get enough resistance in the climbs if I want to attack ... but obviously attacking is not really an option in races like this! Thanks for watching.
