I would really like to see more of these kind of videos from JPL :)

This is actually better than a lot of other science channels on youtube! Excellent work NASA!

Seriously, who thumbs down a video like this?

onjoFilms If I was in the habit of voting videos, I would give this a thumbs down. I love science but I hate this manic, puerile approach. On top of that, I learned about this adhesive years ago.

Gammel Prutte so you knew about tiny robots crawling on top of spacecrafts too right? I've heard of this technology at least three times before this, still it is awesome to have such a close look at what nasa is doing and planing, isn't it?

qwonatz Nothing of which concerns voting on videos.

In charge of "Robotics and adhesives"
Ah yes. Those two closely related fields. I see why they've been lumped together.

NicosMind Well they were talking about using adhesive surfaces on small robots, like for repair and analysis etc

Samuel Rowe My comment was sarcastic. its an odd title, but he was using engineering solutions as opposed to chemical so I can see why he was working on them. But it was the oddness of the title which lead me to comment.

Can we create a suit for climbing using this technology? I guess it will going to sensation! Some type of gloves with this gecko gripper and everyone can try themselves as professional climber

What-about obvious uses like climbing walls with Gecko van der Waals booties and gloves...?
(P.S. How do you clean it of dust?)

Velcro is a brand name, like Kleenex or Xerox, unless you are sponsored by Velcro, you should refer to the technology as hook and loop fasteners. People are not that stupid; they will understand what you mean. It's like calling all computers Apples.

BariumCobaltNitrog3n In fact the company is called Velcro not even the product. In the US most things end up being called by their trade names, it has taken me a while to learn all of the conversions teflon = ptfe, perspex/plexiglass = acrylic lexan = polycarbonate etc etc but at the same time if something is in common usage and understood it is not the end of the world.

Could Gecko grips be made edible too. Like get some cheese sauce and watch them gobbled up. I wonder if it would taste like chicken or grannies chocolate cheesecake cookies. P.S. I don't think geckos can count to 5 or know they should use condoms during sex.

Please do not do that old timey education film style to explain things. It is very distracting and loses the audience easily. I already knew how the force works, and still found it difficult to follow, because of the style. :(
