He was so good as the crazy grease monkey mechanic. One of his greatest roles IMO. He's right about the town of Superior, AZ it was the perfect location and atmosphere for the movie. I've been through there a few times, it's kind of a sad, depressing town yet in it's own way very beautiful, much like the movie. Interesting note; Bill Paxton who also played in One False Move with Billy Bob was supposed to play Bobby Cooper but dropped out a couple weeks before shooting. I think Paxton could have pulled it off but ultimately Sean Penn was perfect for the role.

Awesome movie. Bought the book Stray Dogs and it was fairly faithful except the ending.
I recall watching U-Turn in an empty theater on very strong psychedelics. While exiting the venue my only sensible thought was, "Arizona is hell."
My favorite actor after watching Daryl
