    So nice to have a video with natural sound instead of music! I've got one and its awesome. I wouldn't think 4wd would be much of an advantage as there's so much weight transfer to the rear. Also 2wd gives a better power to weight ratio as there is less running gear.

      thanks a lot!
      4x4 is much easier to drive and has more grip. it's also easier to handle rough terrain

    i did the same thing with mine and parts keep breaking but i love it now i can out run my dads castled motor,but i have a wheelie bar and a 76/16 gear ratio and its crazy parts are hard to keep on it even the rear axles but i got tthe 8th scale buggy wheels and adaptors

    I'd save the 3s for on-road and higher gearing. I stepped down to the 2s lipo and sometimes the stock 7-nimh for off road.

    • @FastRCNet
      @FastRCNet  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah. 2s is enough. just to go crazy... sometimes 3s is fun too

    Turn the TSm half way up. It will help you alot. It actually make the thing go straight at full throttle.

    • @FastRCNet
      @FastRCNet  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      in 2013 there was no tsm ;)
      maybe avc but today i would really like to give a 3s rustler a try with an without tsm enabled. what happens if you turn on tsm 100%?

    Just put a cooling fan on the ESC. That usually gets hotter than the motor itself because it's where all the electricity is processed and contained. Cooler ESC means cooler motor

    It can hurt it only if it's running the motor too hot so I would just check it to see if the motor is really hot after a 3s run

    • @FastRCNet
      @FastRCNet  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      checking the motor and esc temp always is a good thing

  • @Eriku-xu4pr
    @Eriku-xu4pr 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Probably need some thicker shock oil in that
    I’d recommend 50 weight stock is 30 weight

      ok. thanks for the hint!

  • @rcreviews9894
    @rcreviews9894 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    you say you are running stock gearing with this 3s lipo correct?? if so did you get better speeds and what about tempatures did the motors get scorching hot or was it managable just wondering i wanna use a 3s in this car im not really worried about speed more run time is what I'm after without overloading the esc and motor if possible

    • @FastRCNet
      @FastRCNet  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is the old motor. The new 4 pole should do a better job.
      It's important to check the esc and motor temps if you run it on 3s. The temp depends on your deiving style, outside temp, the ground...
      On 3s the torque and the speed are insane!

    • @isaiahwilliams7204
      @isaiahwilliams7204 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      just watch for temperature when I did my rustler didn't get hot until the end of run the on the battery and add the black gear to your car if you want speed the lipo is more of a acceleration thing

      Clear the Tx, and Rx, and reprogram them. You can go to Traxxas' website, and look up your model, and they will give detailed instructions on how to reset it. Pretty easy to do, and make sure it's set for LiPo, or NiMh batteries. If you plug in a battery, and the ESC is set for a different type, the light on the ESC will flash.

    I wanna use this on the street.....How durable is the spur gear and other gears as far as stripping? Also, how hard is it to change out those gears if they do strip? Timewise......Thanks

    • @FastRCNet
      @FastRCNet  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      i ran it only once on 3s. i've never had issues with gears, but some people had troubles. there are aftermarket spur gears afaik from rpm or proline to fix that.
      changing the gears is easy as it is only 2wd.
      if you wanna use it on the street only i would suggest to mount on road tires as the stock tires won't last very long on asphalt i think.

    • @3949zxcvbnm
      @3949zxcvbnm 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      First gear to strip is the idle gear then the dog bones break after that idk prolly 30-45 to change out the plastic gears in the gear box i went all metal on my rc10t4.2 with a 3s rwd setup

    are the aftermarket batteries compatible with the stock charger ?

    • @GenesisRC
      @GenesisRC 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, the stock charger is meant for NiMH batteries. If you got a Lipo you'd need a Lipo charger. But if you're getting a better nimh no worries, just make sure you get the Traxxas plug on them

    • @FastRCNet
      @FastRCNet  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      check out first if the cells match. if it's meant for a 7 cell or 6 cell nimh.

    nice vid what was you gearing

    • @FastRCNet

      stock gearing. don't know if that was ok for the motor. but everything was ok after the 3s pack.

  • @dain4160
    @dain4160 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Will I be ok if I get a 3cell 11.1v 4000mah lipo battery and use it in my stock rustler for bashing? Or will I burn my motor up?

    • @FastRCNet
      @FastRCNet  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Always check you motor temp. it depends on your driving style, surface, outside temp ...
      do you have the new 4 pole motor?

    • @dain4160
      @dain4160 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fast RC yes I do!

    • @FastRCNet
      @FastRCNet  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      great! we didn't have any issues on 3s with the old 2 pole motor.
      if motor an esc temps are ok (check frequently) it should be ok.
      always keep in mind that max. cells on each vehicle is always risky.
      i would step down with the pinion to start with 3s.

    • @dain4160
      @dain4160 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fast RC so what do you recommend I get? Sorry i'm a new to this stuff

    • @FastRCNet
      @FastRCNet  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you're new why not trying a 2s lipo? when i started 2s was enough. then i wanted 3s. today 2s is enough again. 3s is really 'sssiiiiickk'.
      you know the risks about lipos and how to treat 'em?
      well at least it depends where you wanna run your car? just some backyard bashing? track? wide fields? grass? (tall grass puts really some serious stress to the electronic)
