Wayne Cooper was another huge part of Cameo's early success. I wish there were more documentaries on him. He was one of the most underrated falsettos out there. My favorite Cameo jam is Shake Your Pants.
Cameo and their leader, Larry Blackmon, made a serious impact with their music during the 70's and 80's. My favorite songs by Cameo are "I Just Want to Be", "Shake Your Pants", "Single Life", "Alligator Woman", "Word Up", "Candy", and "You Make Me Work". Cameo most definitely deserves to be in the R&B Hall of Fame, as well as the Songwriters Hall of Fame!
Word Up, Single Life, Candy, Shake Your Pants, Attack Me With Your Love, Sparkle, I Just Want To Be, and many more are my favorites by Cameo, keep them coming man.
Thanks for showcasing this funky group known as CAMEO. Sparkle, Shake Your Pants, Word Up, Candy & Single Life were just a few of my favs. Yes, they should be elected into the RRHOF & RNBHOF. 💞🎼
Great video, my aunts and uncles played all the funk when I was growing up. I love this old skool type funk. The video was just right, not to long or short.
Attack Me With Your Love, Candy, Word Up, Why Have I Lost You, Shake Your Pants.... They had jams and jams and jams!!!! Thanks for the video! Yes they deserve a HOF.... Every one of them!
Wow a fantastic post . Cameo were an absolutely brilliant funk jazzband in the 1980s . Their albums feel me cameosis and knights of the sound table all Went gold. Funk slammers and silky soulful smoochers. Anthony lockett and Wayne cooper were superb lead singers. . Larry blackmon a good singer but also a fab drummer. Cameo may have crossed over with she's strange / word up / single life / but their early 1980s music when they were a big funk jazz band was on another level. As cameo said , throw it down.
Why have I lost you, I just want to be. She's strange, Word up, back & fourth, attack me with your love, candy, the skin I am in, and sparkle. Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame.
Thanks for making that video of Cameo. It really brought back memories for me. Yes they definitely should be inducted into the music hall of fame. Which version, all in my opinion. My all-time favorite song by Cameo was and will always be "Why Have I Lost You". There was two versions of this song they made, in 1977 and in 1980. I love the version that doesn't start off with the talking. I love the version when they going right to the singing. Don't get me wrong, I love both, but that one is my favorite.
Cameo is one of the baddest groups of all time! Those brothers have had a lot of hit songs during their run in the industry. Larry Blackmon is the lead singer who also wrote and produced all of the songs. Also, they’re definitely one of the most influential and iconic funk bands out there. Their music has a timeless quality that continues to get people moving. Thirdly, they are best known for their hit song "Word Up!" which became an anthem in the 1980s. Other popular tracks include "Candy," "She's Strange," and "Back and Forth." Fourth, their longevity has made them have a long career, continuing to perform and influence new generations of musicians. They've inspired countless artists and have been sampled by many in the hip-hop and R&B genres. Their music is a testament to their creativity and the lasting power of funk.
I First heard Cameo in the late 70’s there was no mention of their song called Funk Funk. When I first heard it I thought it was Parliament because the sound and the music was very similar. Saw them live at the Front Row in Cleveland they put on a hell of a show!
Just be yourself, Flirt, For You, Alligator Woman, Candy, Hanging Downtown, Why have i lost you, Single Life, Shes strange, Keep it hot, Back and forth, Rigor Mortis, and word up!!! They had some bangers!!!

And Aphrodisiac from the album "Style". Even tho he wasn't mentioned, Charlie Singleton was a very major member of that group. I remember a concert in L.A. where Charlie Singleton and Anthony Lockette fired up guitar solos at the same time, then they both lit their guitars on fire. Cameo was "BLAZING"
They are One of Best Band of All Times.Yes they should be in A Music Hall of Fame. I have several favorites by them. But, One cut that doesn't get the credit it should is Cameosis. The musical arrangement and tight execution of the Rhythm band horn section is second to none.
Great video coverage Brother 💯 My favorite songs by Cameo fast Shake your pants and slow don't be lonely you're not the only one who's hard been broken too Hands down Cameo should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the R&B Hall of Fame and in the writers Hall of Fame
