    I'm slowly easing into customizing my gunpla and I can't believe how easy the led stuff actually is. It's a little intimidating as someone who's never done anything like this, but how hard could it be? plus you use my boy for it in this video so obviously i gotta. Thanks for the insanely easy tutorial, it makes me more confident to try!

    I highly recommend using CR2302 batteries for this purpose, the battery holders are 10 bucks, but you get about 5 or so. And since CR2302 batts come in 3.7v already so you can just wire em straight to it. Not to mention the batts can be removed and replaced and aren't a potential hazard like LiPo's. Been doing it to most of my kits!

    • @comradegunpla
      @comradegunpla  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      for external and larger projects, sure, but they are quite a bit larger than the batteries that I'm using here. I would say fitting a CR2032 into an HG with a battery holder is going to be pretty difficult. Not having to use a resistor is nice though.

      @extremecaliber2662 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@comradegunpla I bet there's ones for the smaller batteries, might make it a bit better. I'd just hate to have a battery that may need a bit more finagling to replace, but most HG's I've had (rx78 origin for example) don't have enough space to begin with to fit a battery inside, usually I resort to having a small wire sticking out

    Mr Hobby LED kits work great for those who don't have a soldering kit handy

    • @comradegunpla
      @comradegunpla  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure, but they are l ike at least 5x the cost of the material... And I'm talking Amazon prices, so the material costs are already jacked way up. Whereas a soldering iron is about $15. And as long as you are old enough to use a knife, I highly doubt you'll ever get hurt with an iron.
      But yeah, I agree, if you really don't want to get a soldering iron and just wanna start somewhere, the Mr. Hobby kit is good

    Thank you for this wonderful tutorial! I'll be using a similar method to install an LED for my HG Gelgoog. But I'm opting for the CR1220 coin battery for its small size and 3V rating, so there's no need for resistors. And I want to make things even simpler by just twisting the wires for connection instead of soldering. Any thoughts on my plan? Will appreciate your expert input

    • @comradegunpla
      @comradegunpla  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Coin battery is a better choice except you won't be able to charge it, the 5v battery used here is purely for charging. For connections, you honestly have to solder. You don't want the wires to come loose inside the model after you put everything back. Twisting wires rarely hold contact unless there's something holding them together.
      The good thing is soldering is honestly super easy and a cheap soldering iron is only like about 10 bucks, so it's not a big issue.

    • @DaihupGametube
      @DaihupGametube 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Soldering is really out of the question for my setting. So if twisting wires will not be enough, maybe add a little bit of hot glue or tape to hold the wire in place?

    • @comradegunpla
      @comradegunpla  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can use one power source. Just make sure it’s the same type of LED and wire them in parallel.

    I've been thinking about buying a pale rider space type clear color. How would I add LEDs throughout the whole body?

    • @comradegunpla
      @comradegunpla  ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly wouldn't add LEDs to a clear kit since the lights will bleed throughout the entire kit, so unless you want the whole thing to light up, I'd still go with a regular kit with certain clear parts.

    15 minutes? It will take me much longer than that to learn how to use solder.

    • @comradegunpla
      @comradegunpla  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Here: 1. Plug in the soldering iron to heat it up to like 350 F, 2. Use the soldering iron to melt solder onto the parts to combine them, 3. Unplug the soldering iron
