- Pressure testing the cooling system on a Mercedes-Benz C230. Diagnosing a coolant leak in the back of the engine where a plastic fitting meets the cylinder head. Presumably an O-ring has failed and is allowing coolant to leak out while under pressure.
Since filming this, the owner has added AT-205 reseal made by ATP in an attempt to recondition the O-ring and delay the need for replacement of the failed part. The ATP seems to have stopped the leak for now, but this failed part will eventually need replacing.
Did the at-205 get applied around the base of the fitting where it meets the back of the head?
Negative. Straight into the cooling system. That's where the o-ring does its sealing.
@@HollywoodHornet Ah. Yep, I wasn't familiar with the product so I only imagined how it's applied. After reading the product description I learned that it's a "additive". They say it only works for minor leaks though. Like if you had a somewhat dry seal or a very small seal warp. I see how it could save some money and time for something like a main seal though.
Thanks.
What’s the name of that part that you removed from the back
What part? The engine cover?
What can I do for the vaule that's connected to the supercharge part of the engine
My value is cracked
Once you remove that one screw that you can see that trucks you will back that plastic pipe out there is a seal ring on there you change that you pop it back in put the one bolt back in and you're good to go the leak is fixed really simple
What’s the name of that part
@jake are you referring to the screw that's "bolted to the transmission", that's "backed up a bunch"?
