That is a VT, not a VT deluxe because it has a popup rewind knob. VT Deluxe (all versions) have lever rewind. Metal shutter curtains could have been added as replacement curtains. What is the serial number?

The fact you're pouring a beer and not a bloody coffee (why does everyone have to show their love for coffee?) means you're winning straight away!!

Prior to this model, Canon made an accessory "Rapid Winder", which was copied from the Leica Leicavit winder. It replaced the bottom plate of the IV series and maybe earlier models (?). With the VT, Canon just permanently incorporated that mechanism, also making a non-T variation using a top located rapid lever winder of the style which was to become universal for 35mm cameras. The same dual design option was carried over in the late 1950s with the VIT (trigger) and VIL (lever) models. They also made a round, textured post which screws into the tripod socket on the end of the bottom plate, which makes it easier to hold the camera and operate the trigger advance.

Yes I have this 1956 VT model the one that you are holding as it has the Pop Up Rewind knob, and love it, and also I have the Canon 7 along with it, And my line of the Kiev 4, and 4m in which that I got it on ebay the Original Contax II and III before they switch going to West Germany as I use my Dad's Contax IIa and so that I also got the Contax II & III, the models that I got were made in Dresden from Carl Zeiss Jena. Also did you knew about this - The Chrome ball that is on top of the flash shoe - Well if you focus your lens, and if you have an external finder as when you focus that chrome ball pin moves up or down meaning that it correcting the Parallax feature so your external finder will be corrected in Parallax viewing - Leica Does Not Have That Feature - And Last Your model does not a Metal Shutter they change it when they made the Vt DELUXE model in 1957. And Raise the Volume in this video..

I just purchased a VT. Yep it's big and heavy, like MP with the Leicavit. Definitely the heaviet screw mount body in my collection so far.
Not sure how often I'll use this, since I prefer slimmer bodies like Leica IIIF or Canon II/IV. On the other side, there's also Leicavit for the IIIF, but yeah you all know everything with the "Leica" tag on it is not cheap. Heck, it's even costlier than the IIIF :p

I sold this and purchased a P because I really didn't like the trigger. I've since moved onto a Leica M4 but I do regret selling the VT. Such an odd but interesting camera.

Hey Yetzel, it's a great camera for sure. I recently sold mine. After long term use I found I much preferred a thumb advance. Something to keep in mind! The camera and lens combo still produces great images.

A Kiev 4K is lever advance, not "twist".

Excuse me John - Kiev Never made a lever advance in the 4 series as they were all ALL KNOB Advance last model was the Kiev 4a, and 4am which Kiev stop making cameras late 1984 or 1985. BUT they did release the Kiev 5! in which it was a short live model as it did have a film advance Lever that it was a bit heavy, and would not take the current Kiev 3 or 4 50mm lens. Although it it accept the 35mm, and 85mm lenses via the outer bayonet lock which you can still focus as I do have one Kiev 5 model in which the meter works, and also the Kiev 4 models as also I did got myself the traditional Contax II, and IIIa 1950's models before they went to West Germany. And FYI - It was Zorki that made the 4K advance. Look at Zenography You Tube video site. I do... As he knows his cameras...
