Is that just a 2019 model issue? Because I just purchased the 2016 version and bought the procase from Amazon and the sleep/wake function wake function works perfectly on my tablet. And I wasn't even expecting this tablet to have this feature.

2019 version has so much missing sensors from 2016 version It doesn't even have vibration motor or flashlight and also the display is TFT not pls IPS but to be honest it's faster and feels more premium than 2016 and also it launched in a much better price
I bought the Soke excellent but I did cut away a small piece on the case just for the SD card it works perfectly for my needs looks good as well saves keep taking the Tab out I'm very pleased
The Samsung galaxy A 10.1 2019 does not have a close to sleep function. You have to get a third party app to have that functionality. Let's hope Samsung adds this feature with a software update.

sayan das yes, in the meantime I got confirmation from Samsung support, that the function is not included because of the missing hall sensor. Can’t believe, that the 2016 model is better than the 2019 one in that regard. Probably wouldn’t have bought it if I had known...

The elastic band on the DTTO case is for holding it on the back with your hand while working the tablet. Sheesh... it is so the tablet won't slip from your hands and fall to the floor or ground.
I ordered a Spigen Rugged Armor case, Just a simple back & side case. I was looking at a case with built-in screen protector, but thinking that if some dust or other abrasive gets under that protector, it's going to scratch the glass on my tablet as I press & swipe over it. The Tab A has Gorrilla Glass 3 I think, so I'm not going to even bother putting a tempered glass cover over it. I'm not taking it to the beach.
I am very surprised there are no clear hard shells available for the Tab A. Not that crazy about the clear gels. I have the tablet with a gold backing so I really dont want to hide the back of the tab with a black shell. Guess I have to go with the clear soft gel unless someone else has a suggestion.

I just got a hard case from Amazon I paid $229 for a 32GB I upgraded it to 128GB the case was $11.99 works good and got a screen protector for $15 gotta protect your devices
No case will let you have the screen going on and off because the tablet doesn't have any sensors on the front of it the 10.5 the Old 10.1 and all the tab s and all the other Samsung tablets have this function apart from this model

Does 0.4" of an inch makes such a difference in movie viewing more? (main purpose of my purchase will be email and movies). Nice cases though... but I think I will first wait to see more coming. Something else now: Do we know if all bluetooth keyboards are working with this tablet? I mean compact tablet keyboards, but also more generic bluetooth keyboards like foldable ones etc..

So something i find important that you skipped over in your reviews is a case that allows easy access to the SD card slot below the volume buttons on the side. I am a hunter and purchased this TAB yesterday to allow me to view my SD cards i pull out of trail cameras in the woods. Its been a pain to constantly remove my otter box off my galaxy s8+ anytime i wanted to pop out my micro SD card. Im finding through searching for a cover for my Tab A, im encountering the same issue. Does anyone know of a cover that has access to the sd card slot, also maybe include this in your reviews

Battery is about 14 hours and yes, you can use kindle app and other apps that traditional kindles won't let you download so if you get a FREE pdf somewhere on the internet you can download an app for that, more options.
Yes it is, I mostly use mine for reading and watching videos. Depending on the brightness (I use quite a low level or it tires my eyes), I can easily reach 10 hours of use.
It's good for streaming period battery however not to good but the screen is beautiful so I think that's why the battery life isn't good you may can get 3 1/2 to 4 hours of good use.
The DTTO cover ‘getting in the way’ is much better for women who pop the tablet into their purse, Too often the on button is pressed accidentally and power is ‘on’ and wasted for hours!
Good video but annoying that he didn't research the product before making the video. The Samsung Tab A 10.1 2019 does not have the proximity sensor. So no matter what case you use it will not auto sleep/wake.
Sold my iPad 7gen and moved to to Samsung. As I use Samsung phone as well. So purchased this Tab A 2019 and what a piece of crap. Very slow compared to iPad, lags alot

just for your info the handle on the inside of the dtto is a handhold to keep from dropping the tablet when holding it in usse

Tab doesn't have proximity sensor that why there is no sleep and wake up function.

i think the hall effect sensor is not present, does not show up in CPU-Z. That sensor is needed for wake function.

They have them on Amazon...Just do a search for clear back case for Tab A. I get it in a couple days. I also have the gold case and it looks good.

You can mod a case... No big deal..these cases are cheap
I haven't seen any with that access. You should be able to cut out the port you need with maybe a drill or such.
