True what you say there!!! This bike isn't about the speed, it's about the fun. And it's a lot of fun riding it!!! I also drove it a little bit "offroad", and it takes that well. It drives very economic, 1,6 liter / 100km, and quick enough for traffic. I am so so so happy with it!!! Regards from Belgium!

Man that's a cool looking little bike, I can't believe the size of that fuel tank, doesn't look big at all.
The DAX would definitely make for a great busy city bike, just getting right through the traffic.
I tell you what, it just looks a fun bike, a bike that would never fail to make you smile, a bike full with a bag of character.
Nice to see your son out and about with ya on the bike, he's never well spoken, future presenter right there 👏
Looking forward to the other DAX video you got coming up mate.

Cheers RB, Yes its even better looking in the flesh, although with your height it could be like riding on a skateboard.
I'm more of a Monkey man myself but appreciate what the DAX has to offer.
Thanks very much for watching. Have a good week.

11:09 the tank is only under the seat AFAIK, or at least if it follows the ST design of old that part of the bike is just a frame member.
First bike I ever rode was an ST70 when I was around 7! Rode round the garden and couldn’t reach the ground so Dad had to hold the bars up when I stopped, then I spent a long time on them when I was 17/18 in the winter months to save taking the main bike out. I’m seriously considering one of these for the summer just for the memories

Thanks mate, Yes ,in Exeter filtering is a must with the influx of building and one way road closures. Excellent review, ER.
I think the heel/toe gear shift in the Dax is ideal for town work where the bike would be in its element.

I’d say that’s very fair review. With the ever growing “popularity” of 50mph limits these tiddlers really make more sense. I prefer having the 5th gear of the monkey but you’re spot on with your comment on the 4 speed suiting it’s history. A warning to anyone thinking of getting either the of the Honda mini bikes. You’ll attract so much attention! Really you will. Lots of laughter, pointing and even cheering so embrace it. They’re laughing with you. Not at you😊 recently I upset a pair of big bike owners. When people ignored their steeds to take photos (yet again) and ask lots of questions of and about my monkey

I went with monkey over the Dax decided the 5th gear was important. I use it mostly for city traffic but I do go touring typically 100 to 200 motorway miles. Honda were offering Dax in grey at the time not the most inspiring colour to chose so the monkey was an easy choice

A very informative review 👍I fell in love with the DAX and will buy it, even though I'm 6'3 tall. I will make 2 modifications, possibly 3, to make it more comfortable to drive.
    1. The seat from a saddler by 2 inches. pad up. 2. A handlebar riser that is variably adjustable up to 2.5 inches and also allows the angle of the handlebars to be set further forward. Possibly Slightly higher shock absorbers (rear) if that is even necessary.
I think it should also fit someone who is 6'3 tall - in terms of the sitting position and also in terms of the foot controls. Honestly, I don't give a damn what I look like on the DAX or what people look at. The main thing is that I have fun driving on the amazing Dax.

@@exeterrider well, I am moving, I did a shoot for a video on Saturday and was really hurting when I got back, even with many rest breaks. My quads are still not engaging and you can see that in my videos. I am getting content that I will be disabled for the rest of my life. I am having a hard time with this as not sure with direction for a career to get me to 70. I had a plan, but life changes. Thanks for asking. I made 2 videos coming out this week from one shoot. As I have a base in two markets, pipe smoking and motorcycles. So to get more experience, I did two to learn from and hope both are watched by both sides. But as seen, most people watch 10 percent and move on. I guess it's because I am older and wanting to see what a creator has done in its entirety. Full respect for YT creators that attempt or do this for a living

Why is the front fender so close to the tire like a street racer?
The original trail bike had a front fender that had a lot of clearance for times when you went a bit off-road and got mud on your tires. Seems that someone in their infinite wisdom decided to lower the fender a few millimeters off the tire??

I really like the look of the Dax and the handlebar set up is great. But as a learner, I don't think the gear shifter is a good idea. Best to learn on regular shifters first. However, as a fun bike for an experienced rider, what's not to like.
Small, light bikes are what I'm after and I'm leaning more to the Grom now although I will sit on the Monkey. I'll be finishing my CBT in October. Just need a big pile of money to fall out of the sky and I can go shopping 😂

Interesting review, thanks for uploading it, have seen a couple about on the roads and wondered about buying one. I've got two original 70s versions, and two more modern Chinese copies, all great bikes in their own right. Security with so many bike thefts could be an issue. I always lock mine to something solid with heavy duty locks, these could be picked up and carried away easily by two people. I've got a 2016 Skyteam Skymax 125, the Chinese equivalent of this Honda, tops out at around 62mph, interesting that this Honda one has the same engine as the MSX, so there should be plenty of tuning parts available.

Had the Dax 70, in Australia as a 10-year-old in the '70s. it's remarkably similar, apart from the fact the new one is larger heavier & more powerful. However, the original had two features this one does not have.
1). The original, had fold-down handlebars for storage
2). The original had a big knob shape hand screw, between the front handlebars, that you could unscrew & separate the front of the bike from the rear of the bike. This meant the front of the bike, i.e. Faulks, handlebars, instrument panel, front wheel & break would come off, the handlebars would fold down, & you could fit the bike in the boot of your car in two pieces.
Unfortunately, this new model is not available in Australia, as the (ABS) Antilock Braking System is only on the front wheels, & Australia requires all bikes to have ABS on both front & back wheels.

Thank you for the informative video. It really whets the appetite for a DAX! However, the current Honda sales policy in Germany
Honda's sales policy in Germany is as follows: after calling more than 10 authorised Honda dealers, it becomes clear that it is currently not possible to get a Honda DAX 125 this year. You can put your name on a "pre-order waiting list", but without the option of choosing the colour, for example, because you don't know which colours will be released next year. Honda says to this: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Not even to their dealers! Two dealers even said that delivery could be in 2025. I'll only be 64 years old by then, so there's still time for a DAX, but I don't want to wait that long.
This sales policy pisses me off so much that I have cancelled the order for our Honda car (after all, there are other good brands). Unfortunately, in my view, there is no adequate counterpart to the DAX. The arrogant behaviour of Honda (also in response to direct enquiries with Honda itself) makes me so angry that I have only one thing to say: F*** Honda! No more bikes from these guys. This is how you lose customers of many years, even decades. Thanks for nothing!

I understand your frustration there 100% , I'm sure I'd feel the same way . It always surprises me How different countries get different bikes, some are sold in some places and not others...It would be very intresting to know the rational behind it all. Thanks for commenting and watching my video : )

@@exeterrider I actually like Honda but this is no way to treat customers and in this particular case alienate them. I have been riding Honda since 1976 (as a 16 year old first Kreidler and then Honda Dax) and many, many Honda motorbikes after that. But I think I am now done with Honda. Thanks a lot though for your quick reply. I wish you much success for your channel!

Occasionally you have to buy what you want abroad. You can buy a Dax but not locally to you. Is that such a big deal? All it means is there is a little more paperwork and work required to buy one

A lot of petrol pumps these days have a minimum delivery of 5 liters. Will the DAX take that much?

    • @exeterrider

1 litre down here minimum noob, which is lucky because there are a lot of mopeds and small 50s down here. The dax wont take 5 unless it was coming out the breather pipe under the bike.
