I kind of understand where the action fan is coming from. In order for me to watch a deep show, I need to be in the right mood. If I'm in a depressed mood, the very last thing I want to do is watch a show about depression.
This is how I've felt showing my friend FMAB (spoiler to come) for the first time, man didn't give a SHIT about anything unless someone was dying. Completely overlooked the ENTIRE point of Mustang vs. Envy and was actively saying how dumb it was that they stopped mustang from annihilating envy. Like... My guy
I started with action anime before the slice of life ones and the action ones are my favourite back then. But the fans at times complain and even fight each other for who is stronger, cooler, better, this or that. Slice of life anime are currently my favourite anime and while they are not free from annoying fans, they are at least more appreciative of their preferred anime than those who prefer action anime from my experience.
Silent Voice is a perfect example of this. Its a story about a guy on a path of redemption from all the horrible things he's done within his life. Its a beautiful tragic story that everyone should watch at least once & its ashame that there are people out there who won't ever give it a chance because it lacks fights.
I read the manga on a whim. Loved the hell out of it. Not gonna lie, though: The one "action scene" that they had towards the end was *incredibly* cathartic.
The funny thing is that I don't usually gravitate towards slice of life anime but when other shows have those elements like mob psycho 100 they're usually one of my favorite parts of the show
That's why S3 is the worst, the story took over the action. First 2 had an amazing balance, the 3rd season didn't. I'm fine with that happening but mob story isn't like amazing for it to take over

I've seen this happen when fans get introduced to a show based purely on the animation and maturity. Lately its been coming from Vinland Saga and Attack on Titan peeps that drop the show when the fighting stopped.
Some people just enjoy the thrill of an anime based solely around fights. I feel it's the younger crowd since when I was young, I mainly zoned in on big anime fights with animation quality centered on making it flashy. Now that I'm older I appreciate all sorts of animes that aren't just action all the time. I mean, I couldn't see my younger self appreciating a romance anime compared to how I am now. You just mature and branch out as you delve more into the anime genre.
I love Vinland Saga! Even if it's not action-packed, the small amount it throws in there with the themes and story makes those action-packed moments more real. I still can't get into slice of life's though. Especially the high school setting ones. Throw in there no action, and it's a big dodge from me.
AoT final season was dumb as hell. I knew the writing started to show it's flaws around season 2 but it wasn't as noticeable. The last season though? Pile of crap.

I don’t personally believe ever show needs action and violence to be entertaining I like characters growing becoming better or worse people for the sake of the plot and story to continue and for the audience to connect with them seeing people only ever want action is good and all but I personally prefer a story that speaks to me on another level

@@whiterabbit8243 I know about Superman, but with Superman some of ‘em try and still say Goku can win, fortunately I know that the SCP verse and the touhou universe house some of the most powerful fictional characters know to mankind, and both have obscure powerful characters that solo most of fiction. It’s a bit funny seeing Goku fans go through heavy denial upon researching a character I’m talking about, I do the same with doom slayer fans too who claim he’s unbeatable.

People don't seem to agree what the term Sol is. I would personally label Nichijou as a comedy not Sol, even though I can see it. Imo, an anime is Sol if it follows a story about every day life (that can have fantasy elements), without too much conflict. But yes, Nichijou is still great
