I remember when you used to do Saturday night live chats. And you'd answer questions about raising quail. It still makes me smile when I think of your face when you explained that baby quail are very sensitive and can be easily frightened to death. 😳😵. I can't believe it's been 5+ years! 💕🌞🌵😷
“I am the donkey” 😂😅 - that hit home as we feel the same as we work our way through shifting 18 tonnes of compost by human power 🤦🏼♀️🙈 … lovely to see quail back in the farm. Do you just sell locally or are the eggs a bit more of a specialist item to sell online?
@johneastwood3039 false. I live on a farm so surrounded in rodents. I had another aviary without foundations that had aviary birds in. There was a hanging feeder only accessible if the rats had come in and monkey-swang their way across to it. Instead, they ate the budgies and cockatiels. Removing food DOES help but rats are omnivores and so will find other things to eat
@johneastwood3039 oh, they really are! I have tried taking food away as you suggested, but on a farm there is just too much around to eat so they always find something!
@@BrimwoodFarm It's difficult with birds too because they spill seed everywhere. Do you have good rat poison? I get it from the council for my allotment. They have to keep changing the poison because they get immune to it.

Time whirs by so quickly!!
So excited for the quail, all the birds are looking beautiful, great Idea with the walk ways x🇬🇧
Thank you 😊
Beautiful, thank you for the sharing
And thanks for stopping by to watch. 😊
Aw quails! You inspired me ages ago to get mine. Lovely to see you have some again. Love to see the chickens and ducks on grass looking happy.
It's so nice to have them again!
Beautiful quail, and birds and fowl just enjoying a sunny Autumn day!
It's the best - could watch them for hours and hours!
Best wishes for 2025 Geoff! We love you! Hope you're having a bit of rest over Christmas xx
@secretgardenhomestead3251 I am, thank you 😁 looking forward to being back to business in 2025

@OtterwoodCottage just sell locally. Quail eggs really sell well, you can command a higher price too so there's a better profit margin. 😊
You need to show how you made your rat proof pen
I love me some quail
@@zedreabognardogtrainer me too! I had to dig it out and put cement foundations all the way around and then wire across the floor and gravel on top
Hello dear friend I like you farm , you are not the donkey 😊 you got alot thing I❤it 12:27
Hi I had quail when I moved here but they didn't last long. They didn't last long sadly
Shame. I found that disease wise, they're super resistant. But predators just love a quail snack!

Are you ok? No vids from you for a while
Hi! Yes, I'm okay. I'm just taking a couple of weeks off to get through damp, grey December :)
Don't leave food down, and rats won't come in.

@@BrimwoodFarm They're a nuisance. I had a gap just below my shed roof and the rats would actually climb up my shed roof to get in.
