That's great! The Bangles were so welcome to me when I finally became aware of their music in about 1986 when I bought their DIFFERENT LIGHT album. Their sound was so exciting. A good friend of mine is lifelong Cincinnati Bengals fan, so this might bring back painful memories of his team losing that Super Bowl, but these memories of the Bangles are very welcome!
As funny as the puns/mispronunciations are in this commercial, I had a minor freakout in the fifth grade when a classmate announced in our DARE class that one of the Bengals had died of a drug overdose. Guess what I misheard that as...?
They sided with the Bengals who lost. Remember the Bangles were from California like the 49ers. The band disbanded later that year. Hmmm. A curse maybe?
All in all I never understood that whole thing. There's another interview where Vicki is dismissing ideas for "Shopping with the Bangles!". This just doesn't seem much different.
