I am 38 and my skin is pretty "normal" with no dryness or particular oily areas. I do have early signs of aging like fine lines/texture, as well as some sun damage and REDNESS!
I don't use fake tan, but I get very tan naturally in the summer as I have an olive undertone so my face is often a LOT lighter than my body, because I keep my face very well protected to keep my melasma under control and signs of aging at bay!

No. 1 Chanel is my HG - for me, it’s very versatile and fits in several different boxes
This is hard but I think my Lisa Eldridge is my holy grail foundation .. I always go back to it and it never ever fails me (I have dry/normal skin). I have tried some of the Tom Ford tester shades but they haven't made me run out to buy it just yet (I think the SPF might be holding me back!). I really didnt like the Hourglass because it was just to thick/heavy for my skin and after an hour or so went blotchy around my nose - but my daughter's friend benefitted from this!!! I think it will take a lot to move the legend that is Lisa Eldridge from my top spot!!!

@@sovrappensiero1 The Lisa Eldridge foundation was extremely ageing on my (old) skin. Much prefer Chanel No. 1. I hated the Hourglass foundation for the same reason.

The No. 1 by Chanel foundation is the most flattering on my ancient (69 yr. old) skin. Closely followed by the newest Suqqu cream foundation.
Oooo I have this foundation, and I love it! I wonder if my mom would like it. She's 69 too. I'll have to have her try it. The Chanel one.

I have the NARS the Tom Ford ( which I bought because of you) and the Haus Labs and I love them all! I need to try the Chanel #1. I need to be on a no buy for foundation because I have so many and it’s my favorite cosmetic category. I can never resist. ❤
Haus labs and hourglass are my go to favorites. Making my way through some others but I think those two are here to stay!

Dear Charlotte, I believe you would like (love) the Surratt Surreal Skin Foundation! Medium coverage, primer included, very very good over texture and pores, has a beautiful radiant finish. I do have the Cle de Peau and have to say my heart is with the Surratt !!!! LOVE it!
What a good list 😀….foundation was complicated for me this year my favorite foundation formula and finish this year was the hourglass but the best shade match for me is the house labs so i am deciding if i want to mix shAdes in the hourglass
I’m glad to see prada in your list. I want to try it. It’s the next thing on my list! I tried the YSL all hours this year and it bumped my Dior. I’m usually a matte wearer just starting to dip into other finishes.
I thoroughly enjoyed this Charlotte. The only two foundations of your top 5 that I have are Chanel and Haus Labs. I love them too, but my Armani Luminous Silk is my #1 favourite.
I finally bought the Haus Labs and LOVE it! Unfortunately I have tried the NARS several shades but they are all too warm toned on me…..I love your channel btw!!!! Always fun! And informative
It’s the Chanel No. 1 for me (shade BR12)-I love the finish and it covers things without looking or feeling too heavy!

Your a lucky duck that your rosacea allows you to wear some of these foundations that have added fragrance and alcohol higher on the ingr list. Mine would be throwing a tantrum every day. Thank you for describing these formulas so thoroughly!

It takes me like 2+ years to finish a foundation except powder ones which I go through quicker. My top ones were that Nars one, make up forever powder foundation and the Dr Jart premium BB cream. I want to try Haus labs at some point, I wish they were in stores in UK to properly shade match though

Just discovered you and love your content ❤ I’ve just turned 50 and have started using the No1 Chanel and have never had so many compliments- it’s wonderful. Beautiful finish and so comfortable on the skin- doesn’t look like foundation, just beautiful skin. I’d used EL Double Wear for years but it wasn’t giving me the finish I wanted anymore. Curious to try Tom Ford now though!

I love the Chanel No 1 and Armani Luminous Silk. I find that I found a better color match with the Armani and it's a bit more sheer. But those are my two favorites.
Prada everyday now ... I've never hit just the perfect shade for my hyper fair skin yet somehow it adds life to the fair .... adore it.
Prada is amazing and I never hear or heard anyone talking about it!
The way you describe everything so with such detail and conviction is very much appreciated. Slightly annoyed when some say "I don't know..." or that they love it but don't explain why during a ranking. How strong is the scent of the Prada? Sadly I have had to return many good foundations due to the perfume. HG and Nars were nice, but being a light olive I could not find a good shade match. This was so helpful. It sounds like Haus Labs might be for me.
Armani Luminous Silk continues to be my HG for daily use. Light medium coverage, natural finish, nice olive tones, no SPF, light scent. Covers my rosacea redness but my beauty spots peek through. When I want more coverage or longevity for a special event, I mix it with the Armani Power Fabric.
I see that CT is coming out with an airbrush spray foundation similar to the Dior that got discontinued. Can't wait to try!! 🌸
My two favourite full coverage foundations is Hourglass ambient foundation and Nars soft matte, I've just repurchased both when Cult Beauty had 25% off, the Hourglass is my top favourite. My favourite medium coverage is Nars light reflecting foundation just started my 3rd bottle, Guerlain terracotta la teint foundation is beautiful, Laura Mericier flawless weightless foundation and the OG Armani luminous silk foundation. I definitely want to try the Prada foundation in 2024, that is on my wishlist 😊
My fav few are the Tom Ford, Nars, Haus and Lancome care and glow. My old Armani is still up there too. Knocked back CT light wonder and the Beautful Skin which is almost too glowy. It's my birthday week so I always treat my self to a new perfume , a nice bomber , and idk see what Saks And Neimans has.
I still love my bareminerals original powder foundation, blush and powder.
I will never be without the hourglass veil tint following your recommendation, thank you Charlotte for another top drawer entry! But ... no money was saved today, I deliberately avoided your louboutin review, I just knew the packaging would lure me in. Then today, oh Charlotte's lipstick is stunning, I must check what it is..... of course it is the louboutinm😂

My HG foundation is Serge Lutens spectra fluid foundation! It’s definitely a wow one for me. Unfortunately Tom ford one went so blotchy after a few hours of wearing it, had to run and wash it off quick. There are a lot of others I like but they are not a stand out for me.

Dior Backstage is my tried and true..... I'm 59, have texture, pores, dry skin..... Always looks flawless on me. I also love Armani luminous silk and Estee Lauder Double wear.
Hi Charlotte, I would love love a review of SPF products coupled with which foundation? As in winning combos. I like applying an SPF then foundation separately but so often the problem of pilling or slip is a real pain. Thanks so much for all your reviews.
the best foundation for me has been the la mer soft fluid. i have combination skin & live in the tropics, & favour a satin finish that lasts. for my skin type the line between glow & shine is very thin so i prefer to err on the matte side if i had to choose. the la mer continues to look amazing after hours of wear. others on my favourites list are the hermès, pat mcgrath, and chanel sublimage (the original). hourglass veil skin tint is nice but less long lasting on me.
I love that Prada Beauty foundation, but had a hard time finding my right foundation match online. I think it is MW45. I like Prada better than the Tom Ford foundation, because it was less finicky and didn't lift off my skin towards the end of the day. It is definitely a full coverage foundation, almost like a silky radiant matte, and really beautiful on the skin, and super long wearing! And the packaging!!
Omg I have the same conversation in my head about the Tom Ford Shade and illuminate foundation. Just trying something and I think it might be better, but when I go back to it I remember why it is my favourite. The only problem I have with it is creasing under the eyes. May me I need to find something else for my undereyes, but the foundation is the best in the world in my opinion.
I love Nars light reflecting foundation and Hourglass Ambient glow, and will definitely be trying Guerlain terracotta la teint in the new year.
I’m very interested in the Guerlain foundation, too-it’s got such a lovely finish, from what I’ve seen!
Try Pat McGrath Sublime Foundation or Lancome teint Idole Foundation 24hr wear.

Really glad you did this video! I've been in the market for a new foundation and this is tremendously helpful. There's only so much you can gather from swatches and quick tests before making the big investment foundation usually is.
Try the Surratt Surreal skin foundation, it is amazingly beautiful. You can try samples prior to commit to a full size. It is my absolute favorite.
I finally bought the Tom Ford recently after hearing you sing its praises for so long, and it shot straight to the top of my pile. I even own 2 shades now. The price is pretty unacceptable, but... Yeah. Pretty much hooked for life now, I reckon. 😅

39yo here; You might wanna check the newest foundation of shiseido, it’s gorgeous glowy on my (normal to dry) skin, the climate is very cold and dry which makes even face and body matte at some point, but not this one! I really liked it.
My favorite foundation in the winter is Dior Forever, and in the summer is the Pat McGrath foundation and the Mary Kay CC cream. I am 56, and I live in a warmer climate that is very humid in the summer. I’m sure those things influence my choices. I would like to try the Haus Labs foundation
I’m also a Dior Forever girl - shades are perfect for me and always looks flawless on my 65 yo skin
Haus Labs is good in my state (Florida). My age is 58 normal skin.
Oh, to answer your question, Terracotta Le Teint by Guerlain is probably my favorite. I’m partial to Guerlain because their products always smell like heaven, which adds so much enjoyment for me. But I’ve yet to find an HG.
I have verrrrry dry skin and prefer uber natural skin. My top 4 are Koh gen do moisture foundation, Surratt Dewdtop, and the Chanel Eau De Teint both the original and the newer Touch with slightly more coverage. Interested to try the Chanel #1 but often have trouble color matching Chanel foundations. 30 is too pale and 40 too deep.
I luv my Pat Mcgrath foundation and it's almost gone😢. I have Haus also but I do want to try a new one. I really liked the YSL foundation samples that I got...but Tom Ford may be the one I try.

Tom Ford just didn't work for me, unfortunately :( Way too dry on me, and sits in my smile lines, emphasising them, emphasis my texture around my mouth, prolly because my skin is very dry. I also hated Nars Foundation, drying as heck. Chanel was great, tho very light coverage, so I mix Shiseido synchro lifting foundation. Shiseido is good but not great, again can be slightly makeupy around my mouth. Lisa Eldridge is a bit finicky, sometimes wirks, sometimes doesn't.
I now have a self imposed ban on buying anymore foundations! Gonna use up ones I have. I am also working more on my skin texture and melasma so I don't need too much foundation since it's so dang finicky!!!
I like the Tom Ford shade & Illuminate, but for me, the Tom Ford Traceless Soft Matte is my HG. I find the longevity and finish is better. Will you be doing a top 5 of concealers?

I think I’m the only person on the planet that doesn’t like the Hour Glass foundation 😮! I’ve tried to love it but it emphases texture! Someone recommended that I was using too much so I used less but for the same result 😩!! LOVE your videos!!!!💕

Makeup is soooo personal. I have also "normal" skin and really not reactive to anything. The only one from your top t I did not try ia the Prada one. The rest I do not like at all with Tom Ford being probably the most hated by me😂. But it is definitely a personal thing as I only like foundation which are not glowy, but also not totally matte. And they need to stay like so all day as I hate touching up. My favourites currently are Lisa Eldridge, MUFE HD skin, Lancome care and glow
I really like the Suqqu …and saw that they don’t have my color anymore …and I live in Brazil coming to Europe and ugh…. Only Paris and London have Suqqu and I will be in Schotland…. They have Harrods but no Suqqu 🫤 Cle de Peau is my second favorite ❤️
I really wish the high end foundations didn't contain fragrance or essential oils. I can only use 2 of your top 5 (Haus Labs and Hourglass) but just can't seem to get the right shade match in either.
My HG for more than 12years was Givenchy Photo Perfexion and they discountinued it 2 years ago. Since than I am on the hunt for my new HG but nothing so far that I tried have not came even close 😢
How does these compare to the Shishedo Rivital Essence foundation. If I remember correctly you really enjoyed that one.
Hi Charlotte!! I Love Chanel No1.. I realized how quickly I was going through the bottle. Thankfully I didn’t throw away after they stopped dispensing. Had to figure out how to remove the cap as it’s not just a twist off. Let me tell you…. I Was Able to get At LEAST another 10-15 uses by draining it into a clean container…. PER BOTTLE!!! After purchasing four times then dealing with working out of another container after draining the remaining from the bottle …. I’m conflicted if I’d like to purchase again as I feel this is a little deceptive??? I wish they would make the dispensing tube a little longer so I can use the actual bottle to full capacity. I have to wonder how many threw away after it stop dispensing, and therefore missed out on a good portion of the product . Have any of you found this to be an issue???
Yes! I just tossed the bottle when I couldn't get the pump out/off.

I don’t understand how you can resist that foundation, and I’m not even bringing up the packaging, which is a work of art. 🥰
From previous reviews I believe Charlotte is a fan of the LE but it's just the finish that's not really her cup of tea because it's "satin" .. so doesn't have quite as much glow as some of her faves!

I can’t figure out a Tom Ford match. 😢 Right now, Haus Labs , CT Beautiful Skin Foundation, and Pat McGrath are my favorites. I think HL has the best shade match for me. I have too many foundations and I agree this the area I don’t mind investing in. But I absolutely do not need as many as I have. I’m committed to not purchasing any more until I’ve gotten rid of or used all my excess. I really would like to try the Prada one! ❤❤

I would love to try Hourglass foundation but their shade range is a little…terrible lol. Very heavy yellow and orange undertones, the “cool” shades are totally orange instead of pink, so unfortunately there’s no chance for me to use this one. Everyone rants and raves about it but I wish they would either expand or rerelease their shade range.

My problem with the Tom ford is after few hours it turns veeery baaad, like pores and shade and texture unlike when I first apply ut ut looks glorious so I stopped wearing it. My fav right now is mixing hourglass with Ysl all hours but if cours having a glowy hydrating primer the one I use is Natasha denona serum

My holy grail is Chanel No1 (never try tom ford though), as I alway prefer this type of foundation. But I also love Power Fabric from Armani surprisingly! It’s kind of a Matt foundation but it so smooth, my skin look amazingly beautiful & even, not dry at all. I wish people would talk more about it. If u r looking for a non-glowy ,but give a smooth and elegant look foundation, I strongly recommend it. 😊
I wear PF on my T-zone when I need more coverage than the Luminous Silk. Sometimes I mix them together. I love Armani because they offer beautiful olive shades, no SPF. Nars and Hourglass are always too peachy for me. Patty Alonso is the only one I have seen mention Power Fabric. She has dry skin and she liked it. I don't like matte foundations but I do like that one depending on my needs that day.
I love Prada foundation but I do not like the smell of it. Still my favorite and unbeatable ones are 1. Lisa Eldridge 2. Chanel Ultra le teint 3. Chanel Aqua Lumiere still and always. 4. Terracota Guerlain. My skin is mixt with very dry forehead and cheeks, oily nose. Mate and mature skin. TF is good but I never found the perfect colour for me and I am a warm tone golden.
