So by the time I sit down to my tea (the meal) it's usually 7.30pm. Then by 10pm it's back to bed to get just over five hours sleep so I can get up the next day to repeat the process. I work a rota system that is a mix of days and nights which runs 24/7 365 days oer year so often I have to work this kind of routine even on Christmas day, New year's day and bank holidays. I just saw a viral video of a lady caught on surveillance in a thrift store finding a bag of money and she kept it instead of turning it in and they tried to villainize that woman. In THIS economy. People were brutal, saying how they hate thieves and she should've turned it in and been honest. In an economy that is currently pushing people to do things they wouldn't ordinarily do. Smh. In my opinion, more shame is due to them than her. Whoever left that bag of money sitting there either was trying to set someone up for embarrassment or they didn't need the money as bad as the person who found it.
When we got married in 1979 both of us were working in basic type jobs (hospital cook and office admin). We had a car, rented a flat, went on holidays, had a social life and were able to save for a deposit for a mortgage (2.5 x main earners wage) to buy an affordable terrace house with a garden in a nice area. This was the norm then. When we had a child we were able to live on one wage until they started school, albeit with my husband doing occasional overtime when we needed extra funds. We didn’t need or receive any state help apart from child benefit. Fast forward to today and this is not the case anymore. What have we collectively allowed to happen over time to our country and people?

@clareholgate8718 Same in Canada. It started in our biggest, most populated cities a while ago, but has spread since covid. We're in a bind, as most of the jobs and services (especially access to a regular doctor) are in our few big cities, so for those who need routine/regular medical care it would be a pretty big risk to move to a lower-cost part of the country. Even then - the cost of food here has become obscene, as our grocery industry is an ologopoly of a few big chains.
Cost of living is real and it's a global situation every one is talking about without giving a right solution on how to savaged through this situation, i have sat down and think. When life is work, but work is not enough to live, then people refuse to work. That’s the biggest cause of unemployment. You can’t blame them. They are not ‘lazy’. The whole thing is systemically flawed. As soon as it said he ‘rents’ a 1 bedroomed flat, I knew he was in high water. The government needs to cap these high rent rates. If he was paying less rent, he could just work one job and have precious family time. You should work to live, not live to work.
It's gone way beyond that now. The UK is essentially a failed company taken over and asset stripped by American private equity. Worse than a colony, they'll literally own everything in ten or twenty years. Including all the 'human capital'.
Low end jobs don't pay well regardless but credit to everyone on this program for trying, taking 2nd jobs etc. If the government didn't spend money on people from Ukraine and all the 6 star hotels for asylum seekers then there would be money to help our own people get back on their feet - good people like in the program who aren't lazy and want to contribute and pay their way...but no, the government can't see that we have enough problems of our own and they still let in asylum seekers at a huge cost and still send foreign aid to countries like India who have a larger GDP than us!
When your country invaded them and they come to your country it fair game. Stop getting involved with their internal issued and live better life in your country but govt don't think that way 😂

For example, this man was moving stuff that weighed thousands of pounds by himself just using a forklift. It's gone way beyond that now.
The UK is essentially a failed company taken over and asset stripped by American private equity. Worse than a colony, they'll literally own everything in ten or twenty years. Including all the 'human capital'.
Perhaps these last years of Tory rule has something to do with it.
Dollar devalued like 08
When even American culture has colonized the British, you know things are really bad. 💀

There’s no such thing as a 6 star hotel in the UK, stop reading the daily mail
When your country invaded them and they come to your country it fair game. Stop getting involved with their internal issued and live better life in your country but govt don't think that way 😂
Trickle down economics at work…
The conservatives forgot to turn the tap on, or rather they made damned sure from 2010 onwards the tap was turned off.
Governments at work. Dollar devalued
And it doesn't work.
There is no school of economics known as "trickle down."
This is caused by inflation btw. And if you want to know what causes inflation, it's the central bank. And if you want to know what the central bank is, look it up.

This is exactly what I say. People just assume they can do what they want and then everyone owes them.
What a state WE have become by blaming everyone else.

I came from nothing, having very left totally destitute by a controlling bullying ex. Who controlled my bank accounts etc. 5 years later I have a house which I bought, a car and a nice life. I did it because I wanted to do. I sacrificed to get to where I am. People just don't want to do this.

No kids = no future!
So sad to see this in the UK and Europe. In the US we have had to have 2-3 jobs for years now. Many of us have left the country just to be able to find some affordable housing and not end up living in our cars. A few years ago there was a documentary about teachers in Oklahoma driving Uber or Lyft in the morning before teaching school, working in a cafe afterwards and having another job on the weekend!! These were teachers with families who had been teaching for years. Unacceptable and dystopian 😢😢😢
Agreed and all by design

They are fast moving towards a victorian style of life and hard work.
I'd say we are already in Victorian times.
The conservatives love it
The reason why we initially got out of victorian times was because of new inventions which increased the productivity of labor. For example, this man was moving stuff that weighed thousands of pounds by himself just using a forklift. It would of taken much longer and many more men for people to do the same in victorian times if they could it at all. Why things are regressing is because the money we are earning is worth less.
It's inflation caused by central banks. Say no to Central banks. They are robbing us blind and destroying our futures, and few can see it.

So how are all those illegal migrants surviving? Answer: free accommodation, free food, free medical. That's what these broken wages are doing: paying to keep this going.
Money to set Isreal but not for the UK workers.
I'm going through very similar circumstances even though I budget very tightly. I don't do takeaways, alcohol, holidays etc as I consider them luxuries. Most day i'll jump from supermarket to supermarket to find discounted items that I can eat that day or the next day and things I can freeze for the future. @@rb1062It’s no conspiracy to say that wealth accumulates at the top.
Without a focus on wealth tax where that unearned wealth at the top is redistributed, and low to middle income is taxed lightly or not at all, what we see in this video is the result.
The wealthy like to drive the narrative that it’s those with less than you that are the problem; immigrants and those on benefits in particular, but in reality it’s those who take much more than their fair share that create poverty in the rest of society.
