Not really mate,but having a good rating on some online judge helps a tier 3 college students to get refferal. Also it is true that it is not compulsary or the only way to land at a good job.

Tier-1 ___IITs,BITs.
Tier-2___NITs,IIITs.
Tier-3 ___all other private or state govt colleges
Lol not all IIT /NIT/IIIT are same😂😂!! There is huge difference between IIIT Hyderabad and IIIT raipur!! Also branch matters!!
Top NIT /IIIT are tougher to crack than BITS for sure!! Many my friend left BIT for NIT /IIIT in same branch!! Also many people leave IIT lower branch for IIIT CSE!! DO YOU EVEN KNOW CUTOFF FOR IIIT Hyderabad cse?? Air-900 lol. According to your logic bits chemical is tier 1 and iiit Hyderabad cse is tier 2😂😂lol
IIT/NIT/IIIT/BITs all are tier 1 college depending on branch

1- Is competetive programming really necessary even if I do questions on geeskforgeeks regularly ?
2- Should I solve 500-600 programming questions on geeksforgeeks or start with codeforces(problem set and contest both) ?
3- I am thinking about choosing WebDev for my minor project ... Should I learn MERN or python&flask ??(I am not really sure what these things actually are )

hey...... SJCE Mysore is not a TIER 3 College... There are so many Colleges (Especially Top 10-15) under COMEDK... RVCE,CMRIT,BMS,Ramaiah,NIE,SJCE etc....college's placements,Fundings are SUPERB !!! Do your research first... People knows Salman khan very well Not Fahaadh Fazil . it doesn't mean fahadh faazil is bad.
The only good colleges in Bangalore are IISc, IIITB and RVCE.. Others are just for money-minting.. And, why'd you put CMRIT along with RVCE and BMS, lol..
