      It sounds so good! They implement velocity in a way so at the peak of how hard a key is pressed it’ll trigger the harmonic squeal articulation and adds that extra layer of fun while playing scales or writing them in a MIDI roll.

      @@TobyRyan Try noodling around with it wired up to scaler2 using the CHORD EXTENSIONS feature ;)
      (go into settings and set chords to mute)
      great for ripping out melodies and solos. Then can go in after and articulate the notes which you recorded out of scaler.

    Lately I observe that competition of guitar samplers: whos lowest string is the lowest.
    At first V-Metal was a thing I was using normally, but it was only a 6-string. Then some Ample guitar caught my interest with 7 strings. Then Shreddage Hydra upped that count to 8 (I even gave it an octave down). But hold your knickers, Ample is releasing a 9-string beast!
    What's next, a 69-string?

    0:39 Exactly how did you do that D# bend? :D

    • @TobyRyan
      @TobyRyan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Nothing too fancy. The D# trick is triggered with velocity, so at the hardest velocity tap of a key, it changes the sample to the sick bend you hear. Makes for a great realistic character. There is also the touch strip on the far left of the keyboard. Its configured to be a pitch bend and mod wheel. The pitch bend and mod wheel on this VST bends and also has an auto-vibrato which can add a little extra character.

    1. You mentioned the Octaves of the HR. What is the Eclipse missing vs the Hellraizer.
    2. Is the Riff generator on the Eclipse the exact same as the Hellraiser with the exception that the Eclipse has the Strummer?
    I've been trying to find a good comparison between the two, but it's been difficult.

    • @TobyRyan
      @TobyRyan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Seth, great questions!
      1.) The difference between them is tone, Strummer, and range: 18 extra playable notes across the keyboard.
      Eclipse All Keys: F#-1 to B6
      Hellrazer All Keys: D#-2 to B6
      2.) That is correct. They both have the same Riffer, Tab, amps, cabs, and mixing effects.
      Hellrazer does not have Strummer. Aside from range, tone, that’s the one feature I can find that is different.
      3.) to give an idea tonally:
      Eclipse has presets that are more in line with artists like: Rammstein, Limp Bizkit, Pantera, and more.
      Hellrazer has presets in line with artists like: Silverstein, Slip Knot, Periphery, and more.
      Both are incredible guitars. From my experience, they keep getting better with each new update.
      I need to make vid on Eclipse, it’s awesome in its own way .

    • @MindzEyz
      @MindzEyz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TobyRyan I found that Eclipse is: C, G, C, F, A, D.
      Hellrazer is C#, F#, B, E, A, D, G, B, E
      Huge difference in range. No idea still on the Riff Generator differences. I suppose it doesn't matter though for me at least. I purchased Hellrazer. The range difference is the sell.

    excellent video man, how easy is it to mute palm on this new guitar playing on the keyboard ?? it's possible ?

    • @TobyRyan
      @TobyRyan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Palm Muting is very easy as it’s an articulation switch triggered by a key on the midi keyboard. It can do sustain, natural harmonics, palm mute, Slide in, Legato Slide, hammer on and pull off, and tap. It makes it convenient to press or program in any of those articulations on the fly or in a midi roll, and even the riffer feature.

      @@TobyRyan great man, thank you very much, this hellrazer guitar is definitely superior to shreddage 3 and heavier 7 string according to you?

    • @TobyRyan
      @TobyRyan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can’t speak on Shreddage 3 specifically as I’ve not used that particular instrument. I have, however, used and own plenty of Kontakt based guitar libraries and they’re all really good. Kontakt based guitars are generally easier to jump in a use, and are focused on specific styles of performance like Riffing, or strumming and perform those specific areas really well. Ample Sounds offerings are a little more advanced, in terms of having articulations, adjustable nuances, and customization of every aspect which needs to be written in or performed manually which can be overwhelming at first because it can do so much. I would definitely download the free version of their electric guitar offerings and try it out to see if it’s something you enjoy writing with.

    • @eduosan
      @eduosan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TobyRyan thanks for your answer, you know what happens, is that the eclipse metal 2 no matter how much I play on my keyboard the palm mutes do not sound with enough "resonance" for the style I want metal type, instead the heavier 7 strings guitar the palm mutes They sound crisp and with good resonance, so I hope the new Hellrazer 3 has that resonance I need, can you make a video playing palm mutes with your Hellrazer 3 friend?

    • @TobyRyan
      @TobyRyan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! In the video, I’m using a Komplete Kontrol S49 MK1. It’s a touch strip style mod wheel. I also use the KK A25 which has a physical mod wheel. Both have smooth bends. If it’s both instruments, in your DAW you might try using automation to see how it sounds. That could help troubleshoot if it’s your physical hardware or the virtual instruments.

    DO i need Anything extra to run this VST ( other than my DAW of course). I dont need Kontact or anything?

    • @TobyRyan
      @TobyRyan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! And no you don’t need anything other than a DAW. This is its own dedicated plugin / VST. It does have a two part installer, one for the plugin and the second installer for the samples. Useful if you prefer installing the large volume of samples on a separate hard drive.
      Conveniently it does come with a standalone app that can run the guitar, but I don’t use that since I run it in my DAW. You might check their support page to see which DAWs they support. Most common DAWs are supported.

    Can I double or triple tracks without phasing?

    • @TobyRyan
      @TobyRyan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a more complicated question to answer, because the answer can be yes, but also possibly no. In my experience, I have not run into the issue of unwanted phasing with these guitars. In the event that it does it’s an easy fix to adjust performance timing of midi notes and timing variability so that it blends better with stacked guitars. That can really make stacked guitars sound full and rich.

      @lemmy9362 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TobyRyan thanks for reply and your video :D

    • @TobyRyan
      @TobyRyan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AzathothsAlarmClock that’s fair. in my experience, you could also just Mono the guitar, hardpan, duplicate track, hardpan second the opposite direction. Now the secret here is to shift your midi notes in the second guitar’s midi roll slightly from the other track so they don’t trigger at the exact same time. This increases the variability between the two. If you’re really lazy, you could even use a MIDI generator plugin with velocity and note variability to randomize each note slightly (also known as humanizing.) from the beat so you don’t have to shift by hand. Paired with the randomized round robins of this particular guitar, it makes for an incredibly flexible instrument. One of my favorite tricks for giving a little extra juice. Think of it like the live guitar trick where a mixing engineer will Melodyne a guitar after recording, then slightly shift notes of one guitar to the left or right of the beat, manually humanizing, in the event, they want a double but didn’t have the guitarist to record again. This trick works like a charm on vocals too and can be used on any VST guitar that you enjoy the sound of but might not crank dials exactly the way you think sounds best in your particular mix. This Hellraiser does have a double knob though which saves a ton of time and gets a great doubling sound. You’re right though, having a quick and easy way to hard pan for mixing does feel essential for saving time from doing it manually.

    • @TobyRyan

      That’s a really good question! Technically, the Hellrazer is designed for riffing and does not have the Chord/Strum feature, however, if you’re needing that the Ample Metal Eclipse does have the chord/strum feature and excels at that. I personally still use AMH to play power chords since it can do open and muted strings. The main tab is still versatile at going from manually played power chords and then jumping into a riff/melody. For some, it’s definitely more challenging to write in that way, but I’m hardcore like that and enjoy the process.
