I think this is one of the most amazing and razor-sharp sermons I’ve ever heard. Absolutely wonderful. My heart longs to sit under such a preacher as Lawson. They are so rare.

I truly love this man! His preaching is always easy to follow and understand. Well outlined. He is most definitely included as one of the Pillars of the Reformers of today. I always recommend his series on the Attributes of God. Amazing!

      Amen to that!
I rejected, in many aspects, the doctrines of grace because it wounded my Arminian pride for a significant time. But God is patient, sovereign & graceful and ultimately I’ve surrendered to what scripture actually teaches. Full Reformed Baptist!

Yes ..The Attributes of God ..is by far I believe the most essential before one can truly be saved ...The contrast is so Great between God and our human condition and state that the Love of God cannot truly start to be understood until we can get a good look at God Himself.

I don't think I have ever heard a more jam-packed, truth-filled, easy-to-understand, challenging as well as life-changing, jaw-dropping sermon preached this side of Charles Spurgeon!! There is SO much meat in this sermon (as with almost all Steven Lawson sermons) that you could listen to this 20 times consecutively and still not glean all the goodness out of it!
Thank you, Brother Lawson, for faithfully delivering God's Truth in this apostate age!!

I thank God for the challenge and call that Pastor Lawson makes during, and at the end of this and most of his messages. He does not take for granted that those present at the conference know the God of the Bible and the salvation that comes from Him.
I was there myself, and by God's grace and mercy I was saved from my own deception and self-justification. I was the chief of sinners, proud, stubborn, and Jesus saved me!
My life has been changed through studying the bible and learning from men like Dr Lawson, John MacArthur, Dr Sproul.
    Praise the Lord!

I am very well acquainted with the Holy Spirit, these fruits have become self evident: blind obedience, docility, irrational peace, complete disregard to oneself (mental, physical, spiritual), inability to say no, loss of freewill, suffering for the sake of suffering, loss of identity, perpetual destruction of the inner child (ego), gratitude.
This is why the church gets us young: how hard it is to come and sub under Christ as an adult!

    • @Psalm146-2
      @Psalm146-2 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

The church doesn’t “get” anyone. We raise our kids to know God - when they become adults they make their own choices. And as adults we don’t have blind obedience - we know very well who we worship. Docility - yes, the Bible has a calming effect on the natural man that is wicked to the core. Irrational peace? NO! Completely rational! We know our Creator and we know what happens when we die. Disregard to oneself - not sure even what you are trying to say - we know our place… we know we aren’t God. Inability to say No - hardly, I say no all the time to nonsensical questions and expectations. Anyway, your list has a childlike viewpoint. Perhaps it’s time to put childish ideas behind you.

Baptism is an outward testimony of what has already occurred to the inner man. It is not a step in or component of salvation. If baptism was required for conversion, the thief on the cross would not have been in paradise with Jesus on that day and Jesus would have given him a false hope, and Paul would have been misleading when he stated in Ephesians 2 that we are saved by faith alone. Baptism is our public proclamation that we have made the choice to align ourself with Christ and His ways.

Thankful for this message, but I often think of how Peter denied Christ, that David had sinned so wickedly against Him, and so many others within the scripture did likewise. And I think how were they "all in" when they sinned so grievously? I want to be all in, I believe I am, but yet I battle sin on a daily basis. I tire of fighting sin and failing Him. I often tell myself regardless of my love for Christ, my heartfelt pain that I have towards my wickedness, that I must not be truly saved, am not the elect, and doomed forever to Hell.

Also he quotes john 3 36 as saying " obey" ?? Acts 10:43-44 (Peter speaking) "All the prophets testify about him that everyone who *believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name*" While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. If we'e talking about fairness, mercy is outside of that because God isn't obliged to show everyone mercy. Salvation, God's calling for someone to be saved is mercy. We all are children of wrath and dead in our trespasses (Eph. 2:1-3). Whether God saves or not is a matter of justice and mercy but never injustice.

Steve is one of my favorites but I think he went a bit overboard here.
The core message of the Gospel of Jesus the Christ is found in this verse:
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.” John 11:25
Because this is the core message, all other related biblical verses must be interpreted in such a way that this verse remains undiluted. No asterisk can be attached to the verse. We cannot say “that’s true, but”. Either a person believes or they don’t. And belief doesn’t mean a person’s doctrine is 100% correct - if it did then we’d all be in trouble because none of us are 100% correct.
Think of it this way… there are two paths - two possible courses of action:
    1. Believe in Jesus and the plan He carried out to redeem us. In this course of action God Himself (Jesus) took the penalty for your sin and paid for it. This means that you do not have to pay for your own sins in hell. This is the ONLY way that you can avoid hell. You cannot be a good enough person to avoid hell - there is no balance beam scale where you can claim that you were mostly good because every single sin must be paid for. If you want to be with God for eternity this is the only way.
    2. Don’t believe in Jesus and the plan He carried out to redeem us. In this course of action, you will pay for your own sins in hell for eternity. By not believing in Jesus, you are in essence calling God a liar - you are saying “I don’t believe that the plan you carried out was necessary. I don’t believe the sacrifice of Jesus was needed to prevent me from going to hell.” That dishonors God. Not believing in Jesus and the plan of redemption He carried out will ensure you are eternally separated from God for eternity.

Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of sins and also so that he could send the Holy Spirit who is able to give us a new heart so that we can follow God's laws and live by them.
    This is the new covenant.
This is how he fulfilled the law, because we have to follow his laws to be able to enter his kingdom. Unsaved Christians who have not been converted to righteousness by the Holy Spirit are still under the law, meaning they are trying to overcome their sins by their own strength.
Without the Holy Spirit in them, they are still under the law, and they will be judged by the law since they were not born again and they didn't recieve salvation. They will be judged and required to pay the full penalty that the law requires which is death..
Obedience is required to enter God's kingdom. Most Christian churches teach a false doctrine that obedience is not possible. Believers in this false doctrine cannot be saved because of their denial and unbelief in the power of God. Most christian churches today preach a false doctrine that it is impossible to stop sinning. They have rejected any notion of the freedom from sin that is available through the power of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, they have rejected the New Covenant, and in turn, they will be rejected by God. The free gift is not given to everyone who asks for it. It is only given to those who believe in the power of the Holy Spirit to free us from the bondage of sin itself. God's grace frees us from sin. It does not free us to sin only without a penalty. That is not why Jesus died on the cross. He came to make us clean, not leave us dirty.
    1 John 2:4 tells us:
"He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him."
False churches teach that there is no remedy for the flesh nature. They underestimate God's power. They have no faith in his ability to deliver them. They choose to put all of their heart into believing that that they get to have God and that they get to keep their sins too.
This is a deadly deception that appeals to lukewarm Christians. It has been embraced by the whole world. No one who believes this false gospel will recieve salvation.

I think Steve is great..........but just as with John Macarthur they think they have every last single thing about God and Christianity figured out. For example, to say that someone who fell out of fellowship never had faith to begin with is ridiculous. Is he forgetting the prodigal son?

The gospel is the fruit we preach. First Corinthians 15:1-4. That Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures, that He was buried and rose again on the third day, according to the scriptures.
Galatians 1:6-9. Though we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that we have preached unto you, LET HIM BE ACCURSED. As we said before, so say I again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received from us, LET HIM BE ACCURSED.
Other gospels are false gospels that can save no one. They make the cross of no effect and preach a false gospel of works salvation. Romans 4:5-8. Romans 3:26-28. The true gospel gives us nothing to boast in. Matthew 7:21-23. They preach works instead of grace. Romans 11:6. They are trusting in what they do instead of what Jesus did for us. Not John 6:40 which is the will of God. Not John 6:29 which is the work of God.
First John 2:2 And He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but for the sins of the WHOLE WORLD. John 3:16. God loves everyone. He hates our sin, but He loves us sinners. So, He sent His only Son to die for the sins of the WHOLE WORLD, so that anyone who would believe He did it for them would be saved. John 3:18. First John 5:13.
Romans 1:16. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the POWER of God unto salvation to EVERYONE that BELIEVETH, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
The doctrines of men are not the gospel of God. Calvinism and Arminianism are another gospel. LET THEM BE ACCURSED.

Pastor Lawson OOPS!!!.....2 Corn 4.4....in whom the "god of this world"..."Satan has blinded the minds of unbelievers"...The understanding of who "the god of this world" is... begins in 2 Corn 3.5 THROUGH 2 corn 4.7.
Now go back to 2 Cor 3.13-16... tells us it is God that "blinds the minds." NOT Satan. WHY?? 2Cor 4.7......that the excellency of the power may be of God."
ALSO, remember 2Tim 2.9....the "Word of God is not bound." Our God also has a "ministration of condemnation." 2 cor 3.9
So, that power of blinding only belongs to God and is not given to Satan, a Created being, a prince...not a OR the "king of this world." Is it Satan who will sit on a throne as King for 1K yrs??? 😍

@@joem13yearsago73 It is a What??? read very carefully each verse beginning in 2 corn 3.15 until you finish 2 Corn 4 to last verse of corn 4. For some reason whatever is said by most in the pulpit, is traditional.... a passed on idea giving Satan power, calling him a god to "blind the minds...." *****Consider this question, WHY would Satan have to blind minds IF the gospel is already hid to them" that are lost....??? ILLOGICAL. 🥴 Satan is NOT a god..."Little g or big G."
again, IF these persons are already LOST...why would Satan have a need to blind their minds???
Don't forget as Steve Lawson, etc preaches..."For whom did Christ Die?" and before time in "eternity" past, who exactly does the calling, the predestination, THE choosing.......declaring who is the Lord's and who are lost??
AND.... the other Bible verses where our Lord tells the apostles why he spoke in parables.
Satan is a created prince, given finite powers...but not a power(s) over God to BIND the Word of God, by blinding the minds of unbelievers...their minds were already blinded by God Himself.
As for the little "g" god of this world....the word "world" can also mean the "orderly creation."...the whole of creation. etc, etc.
