I wouldn't recommend this as a first bike and I say that as an owner. Get a 250/300l, KLX250 or similar instead. You'll grow out of it, sure. Still, the throttle response on this bike will hurt your confidence quickly.
Wow, you have some pristine roads. So smooth. A motorcyclist dream to ride on. NYC may be a financial conglomerate. But we have The Most horrendous roads on the planet.

Yeah, Adam's driving represents California's style of lane splitting, go look at motovloggers and such in Europe who lane filter, lane filtering ='s safe and proper, CA Lane Splitting is an excuse to speed.
@@TomReinerDE Why? I come from a state where lane splitting is illegal(Florida) and his lane splitting seems very safe but maybe its because I have a major cycling background and have gotten completely used to being split by car and trucks that are a couple inches away from me and splitting cars myself.
He’s a horrible rider. He blows the meaning of safe lane splitting right out of the water, just asking to get hit. He can’t expect people to know where the hell he is flitting through traffic that way. Once traffic is moving, he’s not supposed to slice through the cars especially IN an intersection. When traffic is moving normally, he isn’t filtering, he’s just squidding. Godawful riding habits he shows.
Would it make you more nervous if you could not split lanes, stopped behind a lane of cars, while some teen while looking down at their phone, choosing not to stop sandwiches you between them and the car in front? Splitting lanes allows you to go to front of line thus saving lives.

@@NabGer the Japanese bikes do have the status of reliability. I have done a good bit of research before buying the bike and I haven't heard any bad things about the newest gen of the Husky 701/KTM 690's outside of the clutch slave cylinder. The Husky has a higher weight, but also has 74hp and maintance is basically what you would do on a street bike. Nothing else on the market like it really.
Completely different bike.I sold a 2019 690 Enduro R to get a 2019 450L. I much prefer the lower weight and simplicity. Plus 70hp in the dirt is downright wrong! The 450 is way more manageable in the dirt in my numpty hands.

Yes. Changing. Oil every 30 hours is crazy . Second bike. Should be. Good. I have 250l maintenance is every 5000 or 4000. Kilómetros because I like it.
I read in a few places if you ride the 450RL like an adventure bike (mostly on the street) and not racing, the service intervals increase a LOT based on oil analysis and valve checks. The servicing is also fast and easy (near 5 mins) like on most dirt bikes.
No you won't. You'll still be well off R power until you raise the compression, swap valve springs, followers, cam and put a good exhaust on. At least that is the case with the US bike.
Dude when I bought my 2009 kx250f it was like 6 or 7 grand brand new. This is a dirt bike/ street legal. You can spend 10k also and get a new cbr 650f with plenty of speed. Honda has plenty of options the new 300l.
I have a 2020 klx230 abs 6 sp. 19 hp but basically a street legal dirt bike as well. It’s slower but half the price as I got it for $4500 out the door. I just can’t justify doubling the price for the extra power for my commute and light trail work. I get that the crf300 is more comparable but in this class all of these feel so close
The CRF450L is in a different league. Notice the MX riding? A 300L will bottom out on those jumps. The 450RL is also a lot lighter than the smaller 286cc 300L. The 300L and most dual-sports are street bikes with street engines and tall legs. The KTM EXC is more like the 450RL.
I still think the xr650l is probably a better bargain, no coolant tough as hell and has been around forever, With minimal maintenance. The only thing i wish is they upped the compression from 8:3:1 to atleast 9-10
I really wish Honda had priced it lower than KTM, Husky, Beta......you should pay less for a heavier bike! It should be around $8,000! Honda, just remake the 650R with 6th gear and a starter and we will buy every single one!

Only downsides for me is small fuel tank ( have fuelbottles on my nelsen rigg saddlebags ), uncomfortable seat ( changed to seat concepts XL ), short oil/filter change ( will do myself in future), ca 25HP in Europe ( this is not enough).payed 7500,- Euro in Germany. This is 1500,- more than the CRF250 rally. For me it is worth the extra costs.workmanship is extraordinary good.
I want to buy one but in Germany i no longer find it at 7500-7800 euros. Can you tell me your dealer name please ?
@@fcalin21 name is : Honda Zibulla in Iserlohn.
@@ridethebike9080 Thank you !

Thanks for the tip on the saddlebags.
...and at 02:50, $11,000 bike dies approaching intersection. Unacceptable.
Because it's factory set as lean as EPA requires, and yes 11k staller is not good.
The Huskys and Ktms do that too. Its something that is understood for these manufacturers to make some thing for us street legal to meet the strangling EPA standards, knowing guys will tweak it to remove it. These are not motorcycles, they are offroad bikes.
Might be my first bike.
@@relate97 for that huge top speed in first gear 😂
DON’T buy a new bike as your first!! You will be pisses if something happens to it. And trust mec it WILL happen. So save yourself money AND headache and buy a used one for half the price
Just about any 250/300 would make a good first bike.
I hurt myself just trying to hold myself up on a 450L.
Good luck if you chose to.
I wouldn't recommend this as a first bike and I say that as an owner. Get a 250/300l, KLX250 or similar instead. You'll grow out of it, sure. Still, the throttle response on this bike will hurt your confidence quickly.
All those engine flame outs would drive me nuts .
Looks small on pictures and video - went and sat on one yesterday being 6’3/4 and it fits perfectly!! I’m already saving up for one 💯💯💯
I'm 6' and have owned mine for just over a year now. I agree its perfect. Definitely pick up a Seat Concepts seat though.
@@SnickterP ok thanks 💯

Good for you.
Wow, you have some pristine roads. So smooth. A motorcyclist dream to ride on. NYC may be a financial conglomerate. But we have The Most horrendous roads on the planet.
That's why you need a dirt bike for the street
It's because New York is a financialised city that the streets are left cracked, people are homeless, and Cuomo can attend parties while its hospitals overflow with the sick and dying.
As George Carlin said - "it's one big club, and you ain't in it."
The enemy of the people is on Wall Street.
Please give us a rally version!

coming from a non lane splitting state, and having never lane split....MAN that makes me nervous when he rides between traffic!
Yeah, Adam's driving represents California's style of lane splitting, go look at motovloggers and such in Europe who lane filter, lane filtering ='s safe and proper, CA Lane Splitting is an excuse to speed.
Same here, bro. People in Germany would kill me, if I rode like that.
I love that honda made this, but my 2001 ktm 400 has every feature except for fuel injection. It has more power, brembo brakes, lighter weight, probably just as reliable too. And it cost me a tenth of the price.
I’m sold, gonna definitely grab this bike!
Good luck brother, I'd like having one as well
Whoa! At 13:11, you rode in Highway 76 near Fallbrook and Temecula? I've cruised that place on my DRZ both day and night before, and it's quite fun.
Lol it distracts me too as I regularly use all these roads. I also happen to ride a DRZ but looking to get a dr650
Nice review. A lot of work. Thanks!
what do you think of the WR450f compared to this one?
Next u have to get FMF pipe or ? And totally get rid of the back low light and plate and raise them right up under the fender IAM going to buy one real soon!!!!
I just bought that bike and i love it i don't understand why it is stalling it hasn't died or stalled on me yet
where do u live man? Kind of looks like carlsbad or escondidio area?

So, riding with the high beam on and blinding oncoming traffic is a thing now?
Hey Hipster...you wouldnt blind a oncoming car with the brights on at night on these dual sports
@@tieoneon1614 since when? Are you DOT or how did you manage to verify that?
If I did the same on my bike, it would blind the shit out of oncoming traffic

Is there any excuse for a modern motorcycle to stall on its own?
Rider error
Euro 5 crazy lean tune.
@@snupermoto723 Euro regulations are ruining motorcycles..How big is the cat gonna be when euro 10 comes along
@@pureforce56 That's not the bike stalling on its own then.
Nope. I'd contact the dealer. You shouldn't need an exhaust and tune to get a bike running normally.
Does this bike have a fuel "enrichener" that you should have deployed until warm up?
you think someone coming from a klx300sm would be happy with this converted to sumo if I could find one used for like 8k? I don't want a ktm690 because I still want to take it to the trails and swap the wheels a couple times a year.
no gear position? how come the 300 does n this doesnt? i want this but id like gear position too
The maintenance intervals killed this bike for me I’ll get a DRZ
Is the vibration really an "Extreme" level?
5:30 listen to his voice
At highway speeds these bikes are not fun to ride. 55-60 is the sweet spot max if you're trying to cover some distance on real dirtbike tires. Above 60 we're squirming all over the place with our Mouse setup its sketchy
The 450RL flaming out every 5 secs kinda detracts from any positives the bike may possess. Get it together Honda or stop selling this POS just like you did in Australia.
Had mine 2 weeks and haven’t had a stall yet riding in the cold.
How do you feel about the throttle response at low opening?

It's a different animal, but for the same price I'm inclined to go with the Yamaha 700 Tenere?
How often do cars tend to use their whole lane when you are lane splitting. I often use both sides of my lane to round out corners a little or view what's ahead in slowing traffic. Ever clip a side mirror. Lane splitting looks risky.
Thank u.. can’t wait to get one of these

Glad I went with the Husqvarna 701 Enduro and it's 6k mile oil changes
How many miles do you have on it?
@@NabGer not many, 2XX. Just picked up a 2021 MY
@@uspnightfire115 I’m just unsure about parts and service on husqvarna
You can’t deny that’s a plus for any Japanese bike
@@NabGer the Japanese bikes do have the status of reliability. I have done a good bit of research before buying the bike and I haven't heard any bad things about the newest gen of the Husky 701/KTM 690's outside of the clutch slave cylinder. The motor itself is based on the street bike so that should be much less finicky then a dirt bike motor in general.
I tried because I’m really interested in this bike, but after four minutes I just can’t stand this guy anymore. Good thing that Zack’s back on youtube, I would watch him testride a lawnmover.
Yeah I know what you mean
It’s tough. They just swapped hosts of a good show, but didn’t realize the show was only good because of the host
I love Adam's reviews, manner and approach. To each their own then.
Man, I want one but the continuous engine stalls are making me think otherwise
Xr650l is one of the best/most affordable motorcycles ever made, hands down.
My man!! Adam, do you have your own channel?? If not, you should!!
To bad Honda doesn't do the same with the 250RX. Although, after watching the video, it would result in a significant reduction to HP.
Does it have a crush drive?
I wish you didn't have to change the oil so often... and adjust the valves... I would buy one otherwise
Can question can the crf use a quick shifter?
It's a crime it doesn't have an abs option, but the 300L has.
I did buy one and love mine. 🙂
No hydraulic clutch for the RL ?
Another problem with this bike is it gets 30mpg at highway speeds and the fuel tank is only 2 gallons. So realistically you have a 40-50 mile range.
WaT?
Had NO idea Waheed was also a Merchant Marine. Pretty cool.
Yes.
I remember when this bike was released and how everyone hoped it would be that Adventure Bike Unicorn they could set up. 😂 Good review 👍
Mine is exactly that. 👍

5:54 now why can’t they make every bike’s gas tank made out of titanium instead of plastic? Kinda throws me off but I guess it’s fine
Because it is extremely expensive?
Change intake manifold and the ECU and you'll unlock the R
No you won't. You'll still be well off R power until you raise the compression, swap valve springs, followers, cam and put a good exhaust on. At least that is the case with the US bike.
@@troybolton4055 see "Majes en Moto" Channel, he did it. Air Intake of L model is one inch of diameter...
@@dadcorrales
Intake and remap certainty help. Still, until you address the valve train peak and top end horsepower are still down 15-20%.
I would’ve guessed RL was Road Legal
Not sure I want the service intervals of a dirt bike for a commuter. 600 mile oil and 1800 mile valves when I'm riding it every day? No thanks
gotta love Vista streets now a days
$10k dirtbike? The world IS ending. 🧐
Guessing u not in the market for a new 450 lol
Dude when I bought my 2009 kx250f it was like 6 or 7 grand brand new. This is a dirt bike/ street legal. You can spend 10k also and get a new cbr 650f with plenty of speed. Honda has plenty of options the new 300l.
10k ➕ taxes
In my country it’s almost as expensive as the mt 07, I know what I would buy
I have a 2020 klx230 abs 6 sp. 19 hp but basically a street legal dirt bike as well. It’s slower but half the price as I got it for $4500 out the door. I just can’t justify doubling the price for the extra power for my commute and light trail work. I get that the crf300 is more comparable but in this class all of these feel so close
how much is engine hours?
Twice the price of the CRF300L?? What's up with that Honda?
The CRF450L is in a different league. Notice the MX riding? A 300L will bottom out on those jumps. The 450RL is also a lot lighter than the smaller 286cc 300L. The 300L and most dual-sports are street bikes with street engines and tall legs. The KTM EXC is more like the 450RL.
Almost as light as a 2 stroke. I want one
This dude knows his shit...
I prefer the 2 OG's
No gas Guage?
I still think the xr650l is probably a better bargain, no coolant tough as hell and has been around forever, With minimal maintenance. The only thing i wish is they upped the compression from 8:3:1 to atleast 9-10
We getting closer to factory Honda supermotos tho
Xr650rl please with 60/70 horsepower
I really wish Honda had priced it lower than KTM, Husky, Beta......you should pay less for a heavier bike! It should be around $8,000! Honda, just remake the 650R with 6th gear and a starter and we will buy every single one!
