I have a view range of 390 meter, which at low tiers, is enough. I'm also about to get brother in arms which will help even more and then I'll train situational awareness. Sometimes I can even go spotting in bushes in tier6 on prokhorovka :) (once did 2000 spotting! ). The fact that Lanssens went north was my bad. He's a new player (still with 56% winrate!) and I told him to push while I would probably have to defend the cap. We should have stayed together, but then the replay wouldn't be as awesome as it is;)

boer harms im also struggeling with the 2nd Mark and i dont think that tank is good but i think sniping can work but u cant be too passive i already hat like 4 games in my 1st 50 with 3k dmg losses so it cant carry try to save ur hp and Play the 2nd line Tank look for Opportunities to unload because the dpm is brutal also its hp vorgive mistakes. but never forgett the armour is garbage (tasty tiger) so dont try to block dmg. i hope i could help u
take a fairly central location and snipe, wait for an opportunity where you see the area where you can turn the local fight in your favour, that's where you commit your hp and dpm to bully your way through and break a flank open, then use your mobility and amazing gun to leverage your advantage and breakthrough taking control of the whole map. That's my go to strat with the Tiger 1 (have 3 marks) and if you make the right decisions you quickly rack up the damage and wins.
Tiger I is one of my favorite tanks. DPM is great, armor is great for sidescraping when at top tier (maybe tier VIII), and sniping is very effective in most matches. Just don't lead like every heavy tank and stay right behind the frontline or a bit further to snipe.
The WT E100 was actually the final straw that caused me to stop playing WoT. The fact that they thought that it was a good idea really killed higher tier gaming. Try grinding a t8 tank when the enemy side has 4+ of them every battle -_-
The Matilda was among one of the first tanks I picked up after beginning my WoT career. I was actually directed towards it by a good friend of mine, after I was having quite a bad experience with the WoT game dynamic. Once I picked it up I realized that there was a whole world of awesomeness hidden behind these armored beast's. The one attribute that really had me hooked was the absolutely astounding RPM. I went on to play it for a few more weeks, thoroughly experiencing the tank and all it has to offer. The great armor, and excellent armament more than make up for its abysmal speed and PTW ratio. I feel that the Matilda is truly a demon. It is also, such an excellent lead-in to the Churchill 1, another favorite tank of mine. So when asked if the Matilda is overpowered? To be completely honest, I think not. The Matilda is just a little ball of wrought iron, and lots of dependable servitude. Also, can PLEASE do a review of the Churchill VII, I cannot seem to perform very well in it and a few tips and pointers would be a GREAT help!
Absolutely love playing my Matilda. Having that great crew along side coated optics makes this tank a force to be reckoned with in mid-tier matches. I've received Patrol Duty medals in the Matilda. That alone makes this an epic tank to play with for me.

Nah, not really. Try playing vs a Hetz who spams HEAT, or vs Alecto. These two alone can make you question your ability to play WoT. Now let's go higher up - KV-1 and 1s, both armed with howitzers... the Stug and Deathtoaster could pretty much 2-shot you. Going up against KV-85 could mean a one-shot-kill, because of the 122mm gun, though it's the less popular gun. T-150 is a tough nut to crack, too. Now, the cherry on the cake - the O-I. If possible, I try to avoid that wheeled bunker when driving my Matilda. Fighting this monstrosity is possible if A) it's shooting at somebody else and you have shots at the thinner armor, or B) ... you don't fight. You change position. With due haste. Cromwells can and will laugh in your face whilst circling you, then again you can return the favor for a chunk of their hp, but you'll loose anyway. And finally, the biggest (not the longest, that title is still held by HMS TOG II*) and scariest thing (if the shell lands true) you can see staring at you. The KV-2. HOWEVER, it is true that if Matilda is a top tier tank, then results such those are not that uncommon. The armor can and will protect you from 90% of the incoming fire. Then again, if you have to face your opposite number, things could get interesting because the deciding factor would be the effective use of armor.
MATILDA! My favorite tank! Have had this tank for 4 yrs or so now. Working on my 5th perk. My reload time is 1.77 secs. Most kills I got in this was 9. Will never sell my Matilda! Plus my win percentage is 53 in this tank. All others combined is 46. But it's the only tank where I really try to win in. The other tanks are just to pass the time.
maidensentinel Yup, I defend about 600-1200 damage a match. Its always fun if nobody penetrates you and they try to ram you and then kill themselves ;D
The reason the Matilda isn't very fast is because it's an Infantry Tank, speed was never part of it's design. They were designed to support infantry platoons, not zip around behind enemy lines, that was the Calvary Tanks job.
1st Infantrie, Veteran Gewehre I think the weapon is great, makes good damage, I rushed with the tank and killed alot of dudes, but it looks certainly stupid!
I played through the Matilda on my way up the British heavy line. I liked it. One of the things I find most enjoyable about it is the fact that it is not so badly hurt when it gets thrown into a tier 6 game. While the armor is less useful, the gun is accurate and has good penetration. I wish there were more tanks in the game stood as good a chance when they are out-tiered.
Depends on the Luchs driver. One that locks the throttle open and zips in every direction taking strafing runs on you, and it's a little murder buggy. but guys that pull up, slap you with a glove, and then try to aim, they go boom.
This reminds me what I love about the Matilda: it looks like a dalek on tracks and acts like one too. This happened to me once - surrounded by enemies, laughing as their shells ping off, and swinging the turret to pick them all off one by one: pew, pew, pew, swivel, pew, pew, pew, swivel... Though I didn't manage to get anywhere near the score of Thurandyl here. Very, very impressive. (and it kinda loses a lot of that invulnerability when you face tier 5+ tanks, IME)
Fun Fact: the reason why the Matilda has so much pen with that gun is because the thing on the end of the barrel. That is called a Littlejohn Adapter and is for firing squeezebore projectiles.

The Matilda is a good money maker low costing shell, high pen, low damage, and slow as a sloth, but in Tier IV battles it's just a miscalled British engineering, but I can't argue it's a good tank
Well, I guess I am the only one who didn't really liked the matilda but it was my 3rd Tank in World of Tanks. so maybe i just don't knew how to handle it.
return to it after you get better and see if you like it. When I played the game, it was my cool off tank. If I was pissed off at terrible games, either through terrible teams or my own stupidity, I would pop into my Matilda and kick ass
believe it or not, I call this my therapy tank, and this match was right after I got extremely mad and was raging, so I needed therapy. Best session in the world for me :)
The Matilda is, without question, the heavyweight champion at tier 4. The "Heavy" tanks at tier 4 crumble before it. Light tanks can't pen it, can't ram it, mediums by and large can't pen it, meaning it's almost always down to your TD's and Artillery to put the Matilda down. If the Matilda is entrenched though, forget it. I love my Matilda, definitely one of my "keepers" for whenever I decide to bum around at tier 4.
During the event where they had free rentals of Pz.B2s I loved the hell out of the Matilda because there were always a ton of people playing in those B2s and that tank can’t pen a single part of the Matilda
The Matilda is the example of everything I hate in a tank. Slow at a tier where nearly everything is fast. Gun with fucking HORRID damage per shot. Armor that doesn't hold up against anything except for stupid players and bottom tier opponents. How anyone considers this tank overpowered when your constantly playing against tier 5s and 6s is beyond me. A hundred games suffering just for one match where you get the perfect combo of incompetent teammates and even tier MM is not worth it and never will be for me.
It's nice that Wargaming clearly cares about the balance of early tiers and player retention, and doesn't only look at keeping the extremely small percentage of players that soldier through the broken early tiers into the later tiers. That's really nice of them. It's totally not their fault that anything outside of EU and Russian servers is dying. Because early tiers aren't broken.
I've never had a match like this, with enemies coming out into the open. In my matches, they all camp behind cover and spam gold ammo the moment you enter their line of fire. Nice video though.
personally, on my matilda, with a rammer, vents, brothers in arms and pudding and tea, i have a reload of about 1.6 seconds, and an aim time of 1.7. its absolutely ridiculous, but i love playing it.
This video reminded me of the police station scene from Terminator. A slow, plodding, invulnerable chunk of metal slaughtering a bunch of enemies that cant harm it
This tank actually has quite a number of tier 4 counters, the T-28, Lago, Luchs, Hetzers, Su-85Bs, even the T-50 and convenanters! (If you can engage it from close range) I honestly love the matilda for the gun, I don't really like to depend on the armour too much but against tier 3s this tank is a BEAST, and some tier 4s of course.
Gun laying drive, coated optics - I don't use gun rammer because it's never fully aimed by the time the next shell is ready to fire. But stock turret! PWR 7.15! OMG I feel a warm glow inside watching this. Love Matilda.
I'm slightly below average player, WR of 48% - but in this vehicle, my WR is 60%! So easy to play - because it's slower it's more difficult to get into difficulty. With your teammates taken out ahead of you, and mostly, taken some damage - it is so easy to get top gun and mastery in this, even for losses. At one point I am surrounded by 3 tier 3s and a tier 4 who cannot penetrate, while I was beating down on a sniping Alecto - one that can. I get all 5 kills - easy! So so easy and lots of fun.
I do like my Matilda, and have been grinding the heck out of the crew (on my third skill, working on Brothers in Arms). But I've never quite had a game handed to me like that. When you're bottom tier, you can't seem to pen anything. (I'm looking at you, O-I Exp.). I do use the binoculars, so my vision is fairly maxed out, but a lot of maps won't let you snipe that far without exposing yourself. and when you're in close on higher tier tanks, the lack of speed kills you. The thing is, once you have a crew that good, you don't want to move them and have to retrain, because you can't move them back without having to retrain again. (Certain premium tanks are the exception, right?) For true seal-clubbing, hop into an SU-18.... I dare you.
I found it an EXCELLENT trainer for ... my T95 !!! He teaches you what you can do, when and where on the map, when you have a very slow tank. You realize that there are no-return points, and you cannot really relocate without thinking about it 2 minutes before you actually do it (minimum...) ...
anyone who still remember tank company events might remember the Matilda back then, its nearly impossible to rekt but gold shells and even then the ricochet is there.

I agree that its a good tank for starters and easy to attain. Feels comfortable at bottom tier, can take on a heavy roll and its shell velocity is tier for tier the best in the game so the auto-aim is that much more useful.
I LOVE my Tildy! I fully agree with all of Quicky's comments on this tank. Great for new and experienced players and is a lot of fun, even against hier tier tanks. The pen on the top gun, combined with the rediculous rate of fire has embarassed more than one tier 6 tank.
The tier 4 Russian T-28 is a great tank too. The armour is no where near as good, and the pen on the regular AP shells is 112 compared to the 121 of the Matilda, but the APCR pen is 189, way higher than the Matilda's, plus the tank is much more maneuverable than the Matilda. I have had some great games in both.
+QuickyBaby I will likely not be playing past Tier V but still, I prefer the Matilda BP (Black Prince) over the standard Matilda. With a rammer my Matilda BP has 1.94 seconds of reload time.

Support when you are low tier, follow the heavies. Just roll straight to your enemies when top tier, use your armor, you would be fine.

The Matilda is a good money maker low costing shell, high pen, low damage, and slow as a sloth, but in Tier IV battles it's just a miscalled British engineering, but I can't argue it's a good tank

man i love how fast the t34 fires its great. I have a 4 skill com on mine because of the soccer game. I got mentor, vents, rammer, and gld.
my reload is 1.77, when I get BIA i will get 1.73 (vents, gun rammer, optics, so you still get about 400 mobile view range)
it's good to see the Matilda is still relevant, usually the golden childs of yesterday end getting a spanking in todays games

believe it or not, I call this my therapy tank, and this match was right after I got extremely mad and was raging, so I needed therapy. Best session in the world for me :)

I love the Matilda. Has to be my favorite tank.
The Matilda is, without question, the heavyweight champion at tier 4. The "Heavy" tanks at tier 4 crumble before it. Light tanks can't pen it, can't ram it, mediums by and large can't pen it, meaning it's almost always down to your TD's and Artillery to put the Matilda down. If the Matilda is entrenched though, forget it. I love my Matilda, definitely one of my "keepers" for whenever I decide to bum around at tier 4.
Matilda is my favourite tank, it is my go to tank when RNG gods are cursing me.
After watching, got back in my Matilda and really loved it. More fun than my tier 9s or 10s.
During the event where they had free rentals of Pz.B2s I loved the hell out of the Matilda because there were always a ton of people playing in those B2s and that tank can’t pen a single part of the Matilda
The Matilda is the example of everything I hate in a tank. Slow at a tier where nearly everything is fast. Gun with fucking HORRID damage per shot. Armor that doesn't hold up against anything except for stupid players and bottom tier opponents. How anyone considers this tank overpowered when your constantly playing against tier 5s and 6s is beyond me. A hundred games suffering just for one match where you get the perfect combo of incompetent teammates and even tier MM is not worth it and never will be for me.

It's nice that Wargaming clearly cares about the balance of early tiers and player retention, and doesn't only look at keeping the extremely small percentage of players that soldier through the broken early tiers into the later tiers. That's really nice of them. It's totally not their fault that anything outside of EU and Russian servers is dying. Because early tiers aren't broken.

I've never had a match like this, with enemies coming out into the open. In my matches, they all camp behind cover and spam gold ammo the moment you enter their line of fire. Nice video though.

personally, on my matilda, with a rammer, vents, brothers in arms and pudding and tea, i have a reload of about 1.6 seconds, and an aim time of 1.7. its absolutely ridiculous, but i love playing it.

This tank actually has quite a number of tier 4 counters, the T-28, Lago, Luchs, Hetzers, Su-85Bs, even the T-50 and convenanters! (If you can engage it from close range) I honestly love the matilda for the gun, I don't really like to depend on the armour too much but against tier 3s this tank is a BEAST, and some tier 4s of course.

Gun laying drive, coated optics - I don't use gun rammer because it's never fully aimed by the time the next shell is ready to fire. But stock turret! PWR 7.15! OMG I feel a warm glow inside watching this. Love Matilda.
I'm slightly below average player, WR of 48% - but in this vehicle, my WR is 60%! So easy to play - because it's slower it's more difficult to get into difficulty. With your teammates taken out ahead of you, and mostly, taken some damage - it is so easy to get top gun and mastery in this, even for losses. At one point I am surrounded by 3 tier 3s and a tier 4 who cannot penetrate, while I was beating down on a sniping Alecto - one that can. I get all 5 kills - easy! So so easy and lots of fun.
I once in a team that won a game while I took no damage. The game stats revealed I had deflected 800dmg - in a tier 4 medium!
Matilda is best tank for training, thick armor, fast reload, quick aim, slow speed for less mistakes & decent penetration.

I do like my Matilda, and have been grinding the heck out of the crew (on my third skill, working on Brothers in Arms). But I've never quite had a game handed to me like that. When you're bottom tier, you can't seem to pen anything. (I'm looking at you, O-I Exp.). I do use the binoculars, so my vision is fairly maxed out, but a lot of maps won't let you snipe that far without exposing yourself. and when you're in close on higher tier tanks, the lack of speed kills you.
The thing is, once you have a crew that good, you don't want to move them and have to retrain, because you can't move them back without having to retrain again. (Certain premium tanks are the exception, right?)
For true seal-clubbing, hop into an SU-18.... I dare you.

He teaches you what you can do, when and where on the map, when you have a very slow tank. You realize that there are no-return points, and you cannot really relocate without thinking about it 2 minutes before you actually do it (minimum...) ...
I can't believe that Matilda and tanks like DW2, B1 or AMX 40 are in the same tier.

anyone who still remember tank company events might remember the Matilda back then, its nearly impossible to rekt but gold shells and even then the ricochet is there.
I have one myself but my dad loves it so much he played more than a thousand games in the Matilda.

I agree that its a good tank for starters and easy to attain. Feels comfortable at bottom tier, can take on a heavy roll and its shell velocity is tier for tier the best in the game so the auto-aim is that much more useful.

I fully agree with all of Quicky's comments on this tank. Great for new and experienced players and is a lot of fun, even against hier tier tanks. The pen on the top gun, combined with the rediculous rate of fire has embarassed more than one tier 6 tank.
The tier 4 Russian T-28 is a great tank too. The armour is no where near as good, and the pen on the regular AP shells is 112 compared to the 121 of the Matilda, but the APCR pen is 189, way higher than the Matilda's, plus the tank is much more maneuverable than the Matilda. I have had some great games in both.
This battle reminds me of a match 1 v 14 I did about 4 years ago. I got the Master medal on my M2. Still remember the it as if it was yesterday.
I've used this tank in Blitz, and took on 3 on one while surrounded. That armor is helpful as heck in Blitz.

+QuickyBaby I will likely not be playing past Tier V but still, I prefer the Matilda BP (Black Prince) over the standard Matilda. With a rammer my Matilda BP has 1.94 seconds of reload time.
