    ive been thinking of them as cultivar groups, like a subspecies. instead of a single gene line its a diverse group of genes (multiple organisms) grown as a line.

      Thats a great way of thinking of them! Yes and the diverse group is all the stronger the more adaptable it is, and probably like with bodies and exercise, good forms of stress can be a healthy opportunity to strengthen the group. It’s very exciting!!

      @@thegourmetgardenschool yes exactly. natural selection is much faster if you dont have to wait a decades for mutations and by putting it under natural stresses it will select for resistant just like in the wild. goes best with perma culture where you want to let pests like aphids run around anyway to attract predators: much better than spraying poison!
