    I keep learning bit by bit with every video of yours. I am glad I had watched sidechaining before watching this one, because it now makes sense when you talk about it here. You really teach well. I offer this compliment to you while pointing out that I myself had been a music/band teacher in the public schools for 45 years. Learning about using Studio One especially from you in creative ways has been one of retirement's real joys. Thank you so much, Joe!

    I've been using S1 since 2014 and never saw the panning on the send. This should be a little more visually prominent. Or I mean I could have just read the manual... I suppose

    I've been using Pre Fader setting for over two years now.
    I place the CLA "Unplugged" plugin and put it in send as Pre Fader. Then Balance betwen the CLA and the actual channel, till I get a rich full sound.I adjust in the Gain window NOT the fader. So that's what adds the texture.
    Works great for drums, bass and well everything. Adds a lot of texture and "Fat."

    • @MartinWeeksmw
      @MartinWeeksmw 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      definitely try fooling around with Your favorite Compressor for texture. It's actually "Parallel" FX's A time saver.

    I have now clearly understood the difference btn pre and post fader and how I can use them creatively.

    Nice Video as always, Joe, I been using Post Fader Send (yellow) to send the mono vocal track to a FX for some parallel compression, as usual process, and both goes to the same stereo bus (L VX ) and there I send to fx, to get the tone I want to send, and all the vocal tracks, parallel and fx goes to some another stereo bus (ALL VX). BUT, I noticed that when I click to pre-send (blue) sounds different! more natural, with the same levels on the fader (0), with the Post fader (yellow) there is a slightly change on the sound, its like a phase, the makes the vocal nasal, like some kind of comb filter, makes more thin and narrow. I run tests with any the plugins off on the chain and also send to a Bus instead a FX, to differents compressors (even ones with zero latency etc), tried sending a stereo track instead mono, tried sending direct to the master fader and its the same! There is some kind of encoding the sinal, or colapsing the imaging on the Post-Fader Send? Thanks and sorry for the long reply! But that its something I want to know, cause its strange and changes my process! ps: Im running the last updated version no WIN 10, with a Presonus 192, with a project in 96k.

    Hi - I'm trying drag my FX channels to sit next to the Main Bus but cannot. Instead, FX channels seem to be unmovable and only where SO decides where they should sit within the Mixer. Is there some way around this? A check box I'm missing? Thanks in advance. ✌

    What is the difference between sending a track to a bus like you did in this video, and sending a track to a bus by pressing where it says main and changing that to bus 1? Because that’s what I have been doing this whole entire time so what is the difference between the 2?

    Can send pan be set to mirror the channel pan. For example toms panned 50% left sent to a reverb and the send is automatically set to 50% left. Also is there a way to control stereo send pans indivually? As in say a stereo guitar bus with a send to a reverb but with left sent to the right and the right sent to the left?

  • @artist1303
    @artist1303 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    When we do automation and raise and lower our faders for volume rides it will effect how much and how little our compressors and EQs read the incoming signal which in turn throughs off the balance of the mix. How do we do fader rides without effecting compressors and EQs? And if I heard you correctly in this video it does not have that same effect on reverbs and delays they turn up and turn down with the fader rides in turn keeping the overall balance of the mix right?

  • @TheMaverickTaylorBand

    • @larrytate1657

    • @larrytate1657
      @larrytate1657 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      But it’s good defaulted the way it is for beginners since lot of the time that’s the way it’ll be used unless your advanced and trying to use it creatively.

    We're still missing automatic "Send Follows Pan" option, and also to send signal with a pre-fader send when the channel is muted (because now we need to turn the volume to -INF if we want to monitor only the send signal, for example on a parallel comrpessor bus). Bring it on, folks! =D
