I love the cmon collection in your back, and hate, and your enthuziast about the game. I got hate at a discount and was thinking of keeping it or sell it, i think you convince me to keep it..
Thank you very much for doing a review! It's been strange to witness almost all reviewers and even cmon ignore HATE since it's been fulfilled. Only vids are unboxings and playthroughs by backers.
Yeah, I think its hard to justify reviews for games that dont go retail, cos honestly a lot of reviewers make their bread and butter off referred sales... Good news is I'm still waay to indie to care, haha! All the best Jacob!
Great work. Really appreciate the depth you went into here. Looking forward to getting this to the table to try it for myself. The terrain won't hurt with that :)
Absolutely right about the narrative background. The story of Chronicles of Hate is a classic heroic adventure, that just happens to be set in the grimmest interpretation of Warhammer Fantasy's already grimdark Chaos Wastes. Shame that heroic element is (or at least seems to be!) absent from this game.
So you can only use your Feats of Savagery once per clash? Thats only once over 2 skirmishes? It seems like we played that you could use them once per round.
Feats of savagery at the camp, can you activate as many as you want in one turn as long as you have enough tokens? Like I can drop 3 savagery tokens on the three levels of +1 dice and the third upgrade for another +3 for a total of 5 extra dice
Great review, I saw the kick-start vid and thought it was juvenile nonsense. So i did not back it. One year later my son gave me a copy for Christmas. We played a chronicle and it was fantastic. Since then I have managed to get hold of trees, plateaus as well as the three factions and mother box. I will be running a five faction chronicle this Christmas too. What a great game....or in keeping with the theme..."Hate fucking rocks".....ha ha!
@@tas1624 Oh nice. I ended up picking up the terrain as a part of the CMON Time Machine. While it's great, it's not very easy to store... Do yourself a favour a and choose a thickness that can live in the box ;)
Great video. Extremely detailed. I read the comment below mine and i disagree with them completely. Your voice make you sound extremely passionate about this game and the entire story. Again, great video. Thank you for the entertainment. Gained a sub from me!
Thank you so much for another awesome overview and review. Saying that, Don't you agree that this game is... somehow... (in many ways...) ...kind of shallow?
Ah dang, I was worried it would come off like that... Since the review, I've found a lot more depth playing the game with more people. Yeah, the rules are still simple and everything's still about the dice... but throw some decent tactical play into the mix and you'll find theres a lot more to think about. Plus, I just got all the physical terrain in the mail and it looks even more stunning 😂
@@BitsOfBoard I guess I hope you to answer how much depth there is in this game which is all based on a dice. We may find more tactics, depth, and miniatures, in Batman Gotham City Chronicles despite the different theme. Also Claustrophobia give a richer engine. Terrain is nice but still... Where is the depth in "Hate" mechanism or decisions?
@@ryanbrown9102 Yeah, i would say the depth is in the decisions, for sure. There's certainly not much variety in how you play at the beginning of a campaign, but this changes with progress, as additional upgrades and abilities show up. So you have to be invested to get the most out of it. I've not played Batman yet, but Monolith's other release, Conan is still one of the best multiplayer, tactical combat games for me. I imagine it and Batman would be very similar. Claustrophobia, though! That wins hands down at 2p. So good!
I definitely still have it, but it certainly hasn't seen much repeat play. There's juat so many other releases coming out that I can't justify diving back in ☹️ The graphic novels on the other hand, they're always worth going back to.
I enjoyed your video review and I subscribed to your channel but I do hope you gave the review a bit more context by contracting / comparing to other games more to give us better points of reference
Thanks for the feedback - definitely missing a comparison to other games of its type. Would have been interesting to talk about how it goes against Mythic Battles... that game is killer.
@@BitsOfBoard well I am new to this type of game, I pledged the kickstarter and I just got it, but I am not sure I want to keep it. I am afraid it's too 'grindy' or that the 1v1 limits the fun. I know they have the multiple boards but I am unsure I get how it comes together. I guess right now i perceive it to be as multiplayer as saying chess can be a 6 player game as long as you have 3 cheesboards.
I’m not sure why you’re whispering, but it sounds like you’re telling secrets and it’s really off-putting. Unfortunately, it sounds like you’re giving great information, but I can’t get past the soft voice.
This game looks really bland other than the miniatures. Looks like all the effort went into the minis and everything else, including the gameplay is really second rate.
I was dubious as well. It looked too simplisitic but after 3 plays, I'm a HATER!. If you want a simple and fast skirmish game, this fits the bill. I would compare it to Shadespire but without the deck-building. I'm not a fan of deck-building so for me, HATE works.
Yeah, certainly its a good fast skirmish game as Roland says - I just dont know how long it will keep my interest with so many other available options. Time will tell!

Also, for AOE attacks you make a single roll that all targets must make a defense roll against. You don't roll an attack for each target.
Good catch dude, youre on fire!
The BEST explanation for the gameplay I’ve seem, and I’ve been searching YT for good good while.

Had no idea about the Chaos Wastes connection - i'll have to check it out, the Warhammer universes are always so well put together :)

Yes, apologies I misspoke on that one - these are available once every round. Thanks for clarifying 🔥
HAHA!!! I am Autralian. Bad English is my major language.
Please make a board game collection room tour video. Would love to see where you put all your King Death minis, set-up, etc.
I just might, although that may involve a thorough clean up of the room - Ill keep you posted.
Great video. It costs 2 savagery for Princes and Mercenaries, not Champions as you state. Cheers!
Chris Richardson i noticed that too when he said that, thought i had the rules wrong for a second haha. Good catch.
Yeah cheers man, I totally missed that for some reason!
The activation for champion is 1, cheers.
Great, straight forward tutorial/review 👍
Thanks!

Could the high ground tiles be glued to foam board or are they two sided?
Mounting on foam board is a great idea! Yes, the tiles are single sided :)
@@BitsOfBoard The 3d terrain just came available online in the US but I think I'll stick to the core set and foam board.

Is the feasts of savagery emptied with each new round or clash?
Lasts for the entire clash!
every new round
