It is fascinating how religion and politics have intertwined through out the history of man. In the Old Testament, God's chosen people discovered calamity when they adopted practices from other peoples. The Roman Empire adopted Christianity, ending the practice of executing Christians, and thus established the Pope as their Holy Roman Emperor. Today mega churches with multimillion dollar buildings, perform Sunday shows, collecting billions of dollars every year. Yet much seems in vain, when a church does nor recognize the bridegroom Jesus Christ as it's master - for me, abiding in Christ is the only solution to my problems, and a reason for my thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is actually a mockery of God's day of atonement. Its good to be thankful but the daY of atonement followed by the feast of tabernacles is the proper way to show thankfulness.
God gave the day of atonement to be kept in the eighth month when the high priest was to take two goats. One would be sacrificed and the other released in the wilderness. In 1kings 12 jereboem kept a mockery the month after and God was displeased with that. Thanksgiving was made a national holiday by Eleanor Roosevelt who was known for doing seances in the Whitehouse. She insisted it be held in November which is one month after atonement and the president gets two turkeys. One is given a presidential pardon and the other is sacrificed.
Above all I am thankful that the Lord Jesus Christ gave Himself as a living sacrifice so I can have eternal life. Amen!
