Every time I watch a performance of that song, especially that performance, I get emotional. The ability these young women (especially Su-Metal) to bring emotion in is astounding.
Some people have mentioned how Su has said in the past that songs a for the listener. However, it is difficult with the music video for the regular version of the song, and other lyrics, coupled with Su being from Hiroshima and her own activism in making sure the bombing is never forgotten (as it should never be), to think that it isn't about the bomb being dropped. There are other things in the album version of the song that allude to it, such as right before she enters the first chorus you can clearly hear a shrieking sound that comes from radio equipment getting hit by an EMP, which would have happened with the explosion from the bomb. Regardless, the lyrics are vague enough in their own way to mean something to anyone, but I like to think that the overall message is hope. I also believe as others do that the three girls in white were meant to represent Su, Moa, and Yui, when they started their journey together as BABYMETAL, and a little callback to the "Karate" MV where the message is overcoming adversity together, with your friends and/or family, by them holding hands. It also does, again as others have said, feel like an unofficial final goodbye to Yui as a member of the group just before they announced Momoko joining as the new third member. In any case, they took a beautiful and powerful song and managed to make it even better by stripping it down and letting Su really show her vocal ability. She really is one of the top three female singers of our time, currently. I'm very happy to live in this time to witness it and to be a fan.
I've seen many reactions to this song (since this songs makes me so emotional) and so far your reaction is the best one I've seen. I love to see how touched you feel by it. Really genuine!❤
I heard this version first, while returning home after visiting my sister with leukemia. It tore me up then, and even more so now that my sis is gone. And since this version was a like "goodbye" to Yui-metal, it holds even more significance to me, now, though i do watch the live performance more. But this one brings the feels, and the tears😢.
yes it was, thats why there's the 3 girls in white. The song is about going through the most devastating thing ever, then Never Quitting and Never giving up, she brings up. "Ragnarok" witch is the end of the world (final battle between the gods and evil). For Su, the worst thing she's ever gone through was losing Yui... For her grandparents it was 8/6/45. Thats why the MV shows "The Tree of Life". Even after something that horrific, there was still life, there still a chance... so just smile :) I think Momo was the new member 5 months after this song came out :)
Su-Metal's notes that understanding the number of harmonics present in a voice can impact the perceived richness and fullness of the sound. They also note that Su-metal's voice consists of an even and harmonious distribution of various vocal frequencies, setting her apart from other "intense" or "hasaki" voices.
Great reaction again. As you thought, Su-metal and Moametal recorded this video as a duo shortly before 1st April last year (2023) when, after 4 -5 years as a duo, BABYMETAL became a trio again when Momoko was revealed as the new official third member Momometal. They did another First Take video with Momometal for 'The One - unfinished version' that was released after she was revealed. The figures in white in this video - they were providing backing vocals/harmonies on the "ohohoh" parts of course, but there is always something more to it. We don't know who they were (we can have an educated guess). They may have been a reference back to when BABYMETAL had been a trio and a hint that they would become a trio again very soon, but I think their being dressed in white was possibly the most significant thing. BABYMETAL have performed dressed in white two times before this (3 if you count the 'Karate' official video) and each time it was at a significant turning point in their own history. First time was at Legend Z early in 2013 for the last 2 encores. This was their final performance as a sub-unit of their parent group Sakura Gakuin before BABYMETAL separated to go their own way as an independent band in their own right. Second time Yui and Moa started the Legend 1997 (December 2013) concert dressed in white making a theatrical offering of neck braces to the god of metal (represented by the statue in that concert). Legend 1997 was the final step of their separation and becoming independent band. The whole concert told that story of their transition and in particular of Suzuka Nakamoto's transition, giving up her life and existence as a JPop Idol and sacrificing herself to be reborn as the Metal Goddess Su-metal. If you include the 'Karate' official video - that was the lead single for the second album (2016) and that was another big step as they moved on from the first album which was nearly half full of songs they had originally released with Sakura Gakuin and started to explore more metal genres and musical styles. So here we see figures in white again ... and this was just before the "new" BABYMETAL was revealed with Momometal joining Su-metal and Moametal to make up the new trio. All of that is just my own thinking of course - there is every chance I've read far more into it all than is really there.
There is a lots of discussions what Monocrome is about (meaning). Su-Metal: 'Whatever you think it’s about is what it’s about. Songs belong to the listener. As far as I’m concerned it’s an absolutely beautiful song about hope over adversity. BABYMETAL are good at instilling hope." 🦊🤘
This was recorded between the time that Yui left for health reasons, and when Momo became an official member. If you want to experience another super emotional song by Babymetal, I suggest “No Rain, No Rainbow” Great reaction by the way! I also must add that if you get the chance to attend one of their concerts, DO IT!
Just because I had just recovered from crying after listening to No Rain, No Rainbow with Su's perfect voice singing, you post this version of Monochrome. I ended up crying again lol
@@Abigirl_Reacts I'm going to challenge you now. I DOUBT you won't cry with the song No Rain, No Rainbow, one of Su-metal's solo songs. But it has to be the one from the Legend S Baptism XX show (20th anniversary show). In this performance you can see Su crying her heart out.
The 3 girls in white represent them saying goodbye to Yui and the start of a new Babymetal (Momo). Theyve done the white gowns a few times live, each time represented them moving forward in a different way. When they played this live at PIA you can see Su's eyes tear up pretty good... I hope to see you react to that :) And theres Nothing wrong with listening to a song more than once, I enjoy when someone goes back to a part they liked :)
There is a First Take version of The One that was recorded when this song was recorded, and it includes Momo. I recommend it as well as the live version of The One done in Japan when Yui was still there.
You’ve now joined the long list of serious reactors who’ve cried while listening to this band’s music. My guess is because they are magic. Starting from Kobametal and all the way down the line, everybody can do magic. From producer to musicians to set designers to lighting design. They seem devoted to joy.
Yui will never be forgotten and we had 8 wonderful years of Yui being a big part of this band's success, a lot of different stories behind the meanings of this song but my favourite rumour is they are saying goodbye to Yui and Mikio, to get a better understand of their amazing journey you have to start at the beginning ( Doki Doki Morning & Megitune ) the girls get stronger and stronger and are the best thing to happen to music in a long time.
Its their song for Yui, The song is about Never giving up when the world is ending around you, for Su's grandparents it was 8/6/45 (Tree of Life) in MV. For Su and Moa losing Yui was the worst thing. Theyre singing about how much life Yui brought to BM and how they wish she was still there with them.
Just went through all your Babymetal reactions and they are great. Definitely signing on for this train! One thing that would be cool is if you did all the versions of Headbanger ("Original", Moa-Banger, Momo-Banger) because that gives you such a good view of how different the girls actually sound. Thanks for this, looking forward to your next one!
🤘🦊🤘 So emotional. I always tear up whenever I watch this version. What makes it so special is that apart from the instrumentals being stripped down making the vocals more prominent and vulnerable, this is a first take, meaning that it was done in one recording with no back track vocals - and not only is it impeccable but Su's voice comes out better than in the original version. At the time, Su and Moa were a duo, since Yui had left. The three others holding hands are backing vocalists. Some say they represent Babymetal as a trio. I knew it would make you emotional. It does that to me every time. I wish they would include it as a bonus track in an album. Don't worry about the subtitles. Sometimes they are distracting. I think the best way is to first watch without subs, and then watch again with them to get the meaning. But I know some people asked for subtitles, so it's ok if you do them next time.
Haha Kenny, you get me! I also thought it's best not to get distracted by the lyrics but so many insisted otherwise. I'm not sure what to do, I'll play it by ear. I didn't get the three of them holding hands might have been a reference to yui. If I did, I'm sure the world would have been revealed to my ugly cry face LOL
This song and tears is just a certain combo. It happens to me (as is documented), it happens to you, it will happen to us all. I like to think that Yui is in anonymous cameos here and there in BM videos and live performances. I don't think she is, but I hope.
When i saw this pop up in my youtube feed I got excited to watch your reaction! This rendition is one of my personal favourites from BabyMetal. It's raw and emotional and just a fantastic performance that really puts Su's voice front and centre.
I really like your reactions to Babymetal. They're sweet and honest and a little joy to watch. Su's voice does it to me too. There is something so unique about her sound and delivery. And yeah Moa sounded beautiful too. One question I have is this. Every time a piano comes into a BM song it is always transcendingly beautiful. I've always wondered if this is the same pianist through the years and just who plays the piano for Babymetal?
“I’m not crying, YOU’RE crying!!” 😢 You’re right, this was before Momo became an official 3rd member. However, she has been supporting Babymetal as an “Avenger since 2019, 1 of 3 rotating backup dancers in the 3rd spot. “Official” Babymetal between when Yui left (Oct 2018), and when Momo became official (Apr 2023), is just Su and Moa as a duo. Look forward to the next one!! 🤘🦊
@@Abigirl_Reacts I know! My conjecture as to why: 1st few years - they kept the spot “open” in case Yui decided to return. Then Covid in 2020, hiatus in 2021, and finally their return at the end of 2022. Upon their return, things were more stable, and the girls knew what and how they wanted to proceed, so they re-established the “new” Babymetal with Momo being an official 3rd. 🤘🦊
Go back in time to when Yui and Moa did duets, 4 songs as Black Babymetal. Check for captions, you will enjoy them. Moa later does somes of them without Yui, a special surprise ( but I don't think they will do it anymore).
If you interested in exploring other Japanese artists, The First Take is such a great platform. I highly recommend Fuhen (普変) by Ano. She is the most adorably awkward alternative J-Pop idol. :)
And now welcome to "The F1rst Take". 😊 An japanese channel with an amazing conecpt: The artists sing their song in this studio, but they have only one try (one Take=the first take). The videos are always top sound, 4k and always english subtitles. This channel opened for me the door to the japanese Music scene. Here are only some performances I can recommend: Ano ft Lilas Ikuta "Zezeze Zettai Ryoiki" Ano "Fuhen" (The subtitles are vere important here!) Ania the End "Kyrie" Man with a mission ft. Milet "Zezeze Zettai Ryoiki" Aimer & Lilas Ikuta & Milet "Omokage" ATARASHII GAKKO! "OTONABLUE" PS: And to all of you: When you think AbiGirl is ready for Ado?😉
@@Abigirl_Reacts Ado is a female songwriter and singer. She is phenomenal. She don't show her face. Songs like "Crime & Punishment", "Tot Musica", or "Godish" are 🤩. My absolut favorit is her cover version of "Unravel" (Title song of "Tokoy Ghoul"), but live. Makes one cry.
There are several Babymetal titles that you might react to: 1. Doki-doki morning (official music video) 2. Headbangerr ( momoko ver.) 3. Kingslayer - BMTH (ft. babymetal) Live 3. Brand new day (official Live MV) 2. Megitsune (official music video) 3. Catch me if you can (Live at Budokan Black Night) 4. Kagerou (Live) 4. Gimme chocolate (official) 5. Pa pa ya (ft. f.hero) 6. Karate (official) 7. Shanti Shanti (official) 8. Elevator girl (japan ver.) 9. Iine (official) 10. Ijime, Dame, Zettai 11. Maya (Live Blu-ray/DVD) 10. Yava 11. Syncopation 12. Distortion 13. Light and Darkness
I think you'd really enjoy Electric Callboy's acoustic version of "Pump It" ("PUMP IT live at Circle Studios Berlin"). It's probably not a suggestion you'll get a lot but it's a great version and really showcases the Kevin and Nico's voices harmonizing.
From this song I felt "prayer".😇 We believe that if the three of them work together, they can bring energy and smiles to the world!🌈 The world needs BABYMETAL now more than ever.🦊🌈😊
For waterworks check out Akatsuki Unfinished. Su is only 16 at that time, but the emotion she draws into the song is real and its intense. You can see the tears in HER eyes even and in the next song after that, Babymetal Death! You see her makeup is running too. Some thought it was because she was sweating, but one of the fans put the video through a blue filter to reduce the blue and it REALLY cleared up the image a LOT and you can see it's actually her crying. The One - Stairway to Living Legend as Jake mentioned is also another tear - jerker along with No Rain, No Rainbow. Especially Baptism XX Legend S (the XX refers to Su turning 20). I was excited to see this reaction too, when I saw you FINALLY did it, I was rushing home so I could watch it lol Unfortunately, buses can only go so fast! Anyhow, can't wait to see more! Can you also add Morissette Amon onto your reaction list? I'd love to see your reaction to her singing. She's a Philipino female singer who has an amazing voice as well. Her and Su are my 2 favorite singers I think. Maybe react to her version of Rise Up, or Never Enough, or I Wanna Know What Love Is MYX Live! version...Actually that is an AMAZING cover she does of that song. She does the Mariah Carey version of that song, only better in my opinion lol Anyhow, literally can't wait for more! So great job and keep it going! :)
Oh my goodness, thank you for rushing home to watch this one. It's definitely one of my favorites! You are the first to suggest Morissette, thank you for the recommendation! 🤘🦊🤘
Music with a great singer can really hit you, even if you cant understand a word of the lyrics! I think a lot of people get something in their eye with this one. This performance shows what a truly great singer Su is. beautiful arrangment too. (The Charismatic Voice reactor -Opera singer/vocal coach did this one, she goes into detail about the technicals of the vocals if you're interested). Glad you stuck with doing a one take, makes it original. See you!
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。In this first take version, the girls proved that they can do anything. They have forced crowd to headbang with their heavy music and sharp choreo. Now they can depict various images by just singing and project them into the listeners' brain to move people emotionally. Thank you BABYMETAL. And thank you Koba, the BM producer, for your serendipity. Some 14 years ago, you certainly discovered something amazing and sacred for us. Speaking of the three figures in white hood adding some background vocals, they are homage to BM's early teen girlhood of original three girls. Now, you should try "BABYMETAL - The One - Unfinished ver." in The First Take channel again. That was recorded after Momo's induction to form complete trio.
hiii!! i know this is a babymetal video (which is very great btw) but i would like to recommend someone else! idk if you know them they aren't like niche or anything but ATARASHII GAKKO also has a video on The First Take and i feel like you'd really enjoy it (: they're a silly group of 4 girls who also speak japanese and i dont think they do metal, but the video they have on The First Take is sort of japanese city pop its okay if you dont watch it but its just a recommendation (:
I have a similar physiological reaction. I don't get goosebumps, but rather a swelling in my chest and throat. It happened with you now just as it did the first time I saw this. The unfinished version of 'The One' does it, as well, as do most full concert versions of 'The One.' Worth a look. Thanks!
We all know that Su is a special talent. But having followed Moa since she was 11 years old in Sakura Gakuin, I also know that Moa is a beautiful person. She's always been very loving and sensitive (as well as being a great dancer).
Fantastic reaction, thank you! I've heard so many reactors and fans say it, and I have said it myself...but you're exactly right. There is something special about Su-Metal's singing. There are a lot of good singers, but no matter what style of song, Su can just immediately fill you with so much emotion. I've still never been able to pinpoint or articulate why that is, but it's just the reality. Her singing and presence was the thing that initially caught my attention, and while I've come to love everything about BABYMETAL, her singing still tops the list for me. 🦊🦊🦊 P.S. - At some point soon, maybe you should do the guide. It will help you get to know everyone better and have some more background on the group: th-cam.com/video/aIb2xEthdSg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=W-I-0XvyU_gqATGH
Before this performance, "Monochrome" made me sad especially when you watch the visuals of the official music video. But this version is a lot more uplifting and in an article Su said she was surprised how many fans thought the song was sad or serious, while she thought it was a light song. I could be wrong, but I feel that when they perform "Monochrome" live at concerts, they do it in a more uplifting way compared to the official music video.
If I remember correctly, I think she didn't say light, but something like uplifting. Which as we understand the song more and more is what it's meant to do go from sad times to, everything will get better and better times are ahead.
Thanks once again for a great reaction! Nothing wrong with tearing up and/or crying, if that is what a song does to you. This is a reaction channel and we are here to see whether you love/hate/are touched by/some mix of all of that/etc. by whatever you choose to listen to and watch. For me, this version just feels much more a song of longing for someone than truly sad. But, everyone is affected differently by a song, which is part of what makes watching reactions interesting to me. I wasn't actually aware of this version. Thank you for introducing me to this stripped back performance where we really got to hear the vocals. It is a very different experience from the previous versions of the song that I have heard. I thought the piano-focused music with clear voices was really wonderful here.
Welcome back to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's metalverse.🦊🤘🌐 I'm glad to see you're back with more BM songs. BM fans already know this type of unique acoustic version like Akatsuki Unfinished Version live at Legend 1997 or "The One - Stairway To Living Legend", so we're used to this SuMetal's vocals power to reach and melting our hearts. Fans at the recent World Tour 2023/2024 were enjoying the original version of this song at almost every show and having a magical moment and hopefully we're gonna get more this year, they will be in Brazil, Argentina, Chile for the first time as part of the Knotfest as well Peru with a headlining show, they will coming back to Mexico in November and we can't wait for this amazing tour. The three white figures dressed in white are probably a reference to old BM era when YuiMetal was still part of the group or maybe a reference to the new young BM unit they previously performed along with them and are part of this new Metalverse project which is in stand by for the moment, I guess. When they released this Piano Version the new official member MomoMetal wasn't announced yet, that's why you only see the two of them, after the official announcement they released another acoustic version of a song called "The One - Unfinished Version" and they included MomoMetal, not Moa, the new official member in it. I suggest you The One after watching at least a couple of songs from early era since you know nothing about former member YuiMetal and that's when this song makes even more sense along with Tales Of The Destinies live at Tokyo Dome 2016, the only time they performed this. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this and see you next time.🦊🤘🌈
No, thank YOU for your comments. A lot of people are mentioning The One after reacting to this video. Are there two versions as well? Original and piano first take?
@@Abigirl_Reacts Yep, the original came out in 2016 as part of Metal Resistance album, there's an official MV with live footage at Yokohama Arena 2015 (part of the trilogy 2015) but the sound is from studio album, either way is cool to watch and emotional as well but the live at Tokyo Dome 2016 is also epic and along with Tales Of The Destinies first (that's the first part of the song) is even more special and with the blaster sound of the East Kami Band.🦊🤘❤️
Great reaction again! No further explanations needed, I think 😉Su-Metal is a master of her craft, no doubt. I would love to take some singing lesson from her! One thing tho: did you notice the freaking pitch stability of Moa´s voice? I believe you already know how hard it is to sing the same thing over and over, without loosing pitch at some point? She is a great vocalist in her own right.
the two girl also can singing to. you can react momobanger and moabanger live version (not live compilation, the original live) , the 2 girl singing on that . and also momotaro live version . thank you ❤
Btw super rare you had to turn on subtitles since it got auto on subtitles every time I go watch the song, you must switch something on your settings, I guess.🦊🤘
1:05 "she's human" EXCUSE ME? During her 16th birthday concert, "Legend 1997", Su was sacrificed and reborn a metal goddess. This can be seen in the TH-cam video titled "BABYMETAL DEATH | Legend 1997 (Complete)". This fulfilled the BABYMETAL lore's prophecy: "she shall abandon her human life and be reborn as a goddess.". #notacult 🤘🦊🤘
Haha love the #notacult hash tag, that actually got me rolling haha not the first time I've seen that. I assume it's a reference in that yt video you mentioned? Haha 10/10
↓↓↓ BABYMETAL THE ONE- Unfinished ver. / THE FIRST TAKE
The monochrome music video tells the story of the Japanese tragedy, Hiroshima and Nagasaki... and here I think Su brings it with full emotion. With many changes in Babymetal, after Yui and Mikio(rip) left.
@thenormalman3409 second theory said: "They directly refer to Ragnarok, which is the destruction of the world in Norse myth in their lyrics and of course the imagery invokes the destruction from atomic bombs. Ultimately, the message of the song is to keep up your spirits when everything else is going wrong."
@@Abigirl_Reacts He was called "little (smiling) God", because he was rather tiny by statue, but smiling brightly most of the time, while masterfully playing the guitar. Full name Mikio Fujioka. Takayoshi Ohmura (the one using a pink glitter guitar for most performances) was his student. If you watch older performances, you will recognize him easily by his bright smile 🙂
Kinda knew this one would get to ya. 😃 Yeah this was just before Momo joined officially. They did a "First Take" of "the ONE" also but with Momo. That song is a love letter to their fanbase. Have fun discovering !
Nice reaction. Subscribed. You've just truly fell into the Fox Hole now they have made you shed a tear. Goosebumps are ok, but a tear is like a VIP entry ticket into the one. First they make you feel awe, then they make you laugh, then they make you feel proud, then feel respect, (not neccesarily in that order) but it's only when they make you cry that they have got you for good. There's no going back now :) I only really ever get watery eyed at Beethoven or chopin, so they have joined a very exclusive club. It's my favourite song by them because it's the most subtly powerful IMO. The writer of this song has a lot to do with that, but Su takes it to another level.
The holding hands part ALWAYS gets to me! At the time, it was still just Su and Moa, and seeing the 3 white figures holding hands made me miss Yui and BABYMETAL being a trio.🤘🦊🤘
I didn't even get the reference at the time of watching it and it still made me emotional. I KNOW I would have started bawling if I got that in real time haha
I was out at a gig on Wednesday night.. and I'd forgotten to take my contact lens holder case thingy incase I needed to moisten them up at bit. So on the way back, my contact lenses start drying out somewhat.. vision is getting a bit blurry and I need some moisture. Fire up Monochrome The First Take video and the tears start flowing easily with SU-METAL's voice.. it works every damn time 😂
Creating a channel was so nerve wrecking at first. I still get nervous! But you get better as you go. Especially when you compare to the first reaction video haha

And this isn't even her most emotional song. Akatsuki Unfinished imo is her most emotional work... If/when you get to it, keep an eye on her facial expression as she sings...Bring tissues. The other song with the feels is No Rain No Rainbow from legend S Baptism XX. 😁😁😁😁🤘🦊🤘
Yes this is the period where they were only Su and moa,. The three backup singers, are the avengers. Shortly after they became a trio, and did the first take version of The One.
This is right at the cusp of Momo joining. So it was Su and Moa, with Momo in white and hidden. The First Take shoots two videos per artist, and like you it's one take, no do overs. The second video had Momo also, and they were 3. That was released a month later. So yes, this is just as the change was happening.
The 3 Singers from behind represents the original babymetal trio. Its a tribute to the original member Yuimetal who had to resign for medical reasons in 2018. After her resign there were 3 alternating replacements that were called together Avengers. One of them was Momometal which became finally the permanent replacement.
"I can hear every tiny mistake. If there's any. Which I assume, you know, she's human." HA! Bold of you to assume the Queen of Metal can make mistakes. : ^p No seriously though, it happens, but to my knowledge, not on this one, which is why that comment made me laugh. ^^
i think you should keep off the subs first time listening, to not be distracted by additional text to read and instead listen and watch the performance in front of you.
No Rain, No Rainbow, particularly the one performed in her hometown of Hiroshima (which as you could imagine carries a lot of weight and meaning), is brutal in the most beautiful way, if you want to cry I recommend it ❤❤
I'm not going to cry, I'm not going to cry. Not easy is it. Well, babymetal makes you feel every song with a passion that no one does. Babymetal is just... ...A M A Z I N G. Thank you again for the great reaction.
Great reaction, thanks! Yes, this is from early March 2023 and they were hinting aggressively on the addition of a third member. And yes, Su-metal voice has something that gets you. I'm here because of that. 🤘🦊
hello i love your channel. babymetal is my live i love them so much. can you do a reaction to band maid from now on. there my second favourite japanese band of all time after babymetal
Everyone cries at BabyMetal at some point. Nothing to even worry about.
This may still be my favorite ^_^
as she said.. "just smile" What else needs to be said.
=)
Every time I watch a performance of that song, especially that performance, I get emotional. The ability these young women (especially Su-Metal) to bring emotion in is astounding.
I agree 💯 %! 🤘🦊🤘
"I'm not gonna cry." Famous last words. XD
I did pretty good holding it in! I have a terrifying ugly cry face lmao
I agree that this song could be interpreted many different ways by different people. What a wonderful way to reach a massive audience! 🤘🦊🤘
I've seen many reactions to this song (since this songs makes me so emotional) and so far your reaction is the best one I've seen. I love to see how touched you feel by it. Really genuine!❤
This is by far my favorite song from baby metal!
I bet! So sorry for your loss. I'm glad this song holds so much significance to you!
Su is just amazing!!! I personally think that this was a goodbye to Yui. I’m pretty sure not long after this, Momo was announced as the newest member.
That makes sense!
yes it was, thats why there's the 3 girls in white.
What a wonderful analysis! 🤘🦊🤘
She is ready for meet the kami band & Yui, maybe with Yava! (Kami band intro) What do u think?
@@djshidapu316 She's been ready all along, but its up to her.
The figures in white got me emotional before I even realized it was a reference to Yui! Powerful music

There is a lots of discussions what Monocrome is about (meaning).
Su-Metal:
'Whatever you think it’s about is what it’s about. Songs belong to the listener.
As far as I’m concerned it’s an absolutely beautiful song about hope over adversity. BABYMETAL are good at instilling hope."

I agree 💯 %
This was recorded between the time that Yui left for health reasons, and when Momo became an official member.
If you want to experience another super emotional song by Babymetal, I suggest “No Rain, No Rainbow”
Great reaction by the way!
I also must add that if you get the chance to attend one of their concerts, DO IT!
That would be amazing!
@@Abigirl_Reacts what state do you reside in? They are currently on tour here!
Just because I had just recovered from crying after listening to No Rain, No Rainbow with Su's perfect voice singing, you post this version of Monochrome. I ended up crying again lol
Haha it was a coincidence, I promise! 🤘🦊🤘
Thank you so much for this recommendation, I'll definitely do it soon! 🤘🦊🤘
Are those the "alternate universe" BabyMetal girls in the robes?
There is a First Take version of The One that was recorded when this song was recorded, and it includes Momo. I recommend it as well as the live version of The One done in Japan when Yui was still there.
I am excited to do this one soon! 🤘🦊🤘
It hits you right in the feels. Chills every time. Great reaction. I'm loving following your journey into BabyMetal.
I appreciate that! Happy to have you with us 🤘🦊🤘
You’ve now joined the long list of serious reactors who’ve cried while listening to this band’s music. My guess is because they are magic. Starting from Kobametal and all the way down the line, everybody can do magic. From producer to musicians to set designers to lighting design. They seem devoted to joy.
🥲
Su been making us cry for years and she wasn't even trying, Akatsuki Unfinished wipes me out. who hurt you Su I yell.
Oh my goodness, I feel tears brewing!
@@garystephenson7105 Yui was (is) a special, beautiful person.
This was the first song and version i heard that has made me a fan for life
It is a powerful rendition! 🤘🦊🤘
Momobanger incoming soon! 🤘🦊🤘
I dont think so either but that's a wonderful way to think. I like the way you think! 🤘🦊🤘
👍Su's voice is breathtaking. 🥲🥲performance. Great reaction. 🦊 🖖❤
It really is!🤘🦊🤘
When i saw this pop up in my youtube feed I got excited to watch your reaction! This rendition is one of my personal favourites from BabyMetal. It's raw and emotional and just a fantastic performance that really puts Su's voice front and centre.
I think you could tell how excited I was as well! This is one of my favorites now too 🤘🦊🤘
I really like your reactions to Babymetal.
I have wondered this as well! Does anyone know? Please comment below!
What a beautiful song. what an absolutely beautiful reaction! )
Thank you so much, this is my favorite song so far! 🤘🦊🤘
@@Abigirl_Reacts It's very emotional! I'm not surprised at all that it makes you cry) Me too sometimes))
“I’m not crying, YOU’RE crying!!” 😢
You’re right, this was before Momo became an official 3rd member.
I didn't realize they were a duo for so long!
@@Abigirl_Reacts I know! My conjecture as to why:
1st few years - they kept the spot “open” in case Yui decided to return. Then Covid in 2020, hiatus in 2021, and finally their return at the end of 2022.
Upon their return, things were more stable, and the girls knew what and how they wanted to proceed, so they re-established the “new” Babymetal with Momo being an official 3rd.

She does the Mariah Carey version of that song, only better in my opinion lol
Anyhow, literally can't wait for more!
See you!
Yay! I'm happy to be somewhat original from other reactors. One take it is! ^_^
Your oh oh went so well with Moa🎉
Moa may actually be my spirit animal haha 🤘🦊🤘we are one! =P
I'm hearing this request a lot so I may need to bump it up on the to do list! 🤘🦊🤘

They seem pretty cool! Although my current obsession is metal haha 🤘🦊🤘
I have a similar physiological reaction. I don't get goosebumps, but rather a swelling in my chest and throat. It happened with you now just as it did the first time I saw this. The unfinished version of 'The One' does it, as well, as do most full concert versions of 'The One.' Worth a look. Thanks!
You're the fourth to recommend the unfinished version of the one! It's definitely added to my list 🤘🦊🤘
We all know that Su is a special talent. But having followed Moa since she was 11 years old in Sakura Gakuin, I also know that Moa is a beautiful person. She's always been very loving and sensitive (as well as being a great dancer).
She's a jack of all trades. Very talented! 🤘🦊🤘
P.S. - At some point soon, maybe you should do the guide. It will help you get to know everyone better and have some more background on the group: th-cam.com/video/aIb2xEthdSg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=W-I-0XvyU_gqATGH
Thanks so much for the link! It seems very interesting 🤘🦊🤘
It's crazy how differently the song could be interpreted and how it varies from person to person! 🤘🦊🤘
I truly enjoyed it. Definitely one of my favorites! 🤘🦊🤘
It's okay, this song gets me every time. 😢 Can't wait for the next!

Welcome back to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's metalverse.🦊🤘🌐
I'm glad to see you're back with more BM songs.

The monochrome music video tells the story of the Japanese tragedy, Hiroshima and Nagasaki... and here I think Su brings it with full emotion.
With many changes in Babymetal, after Yui and Mikio(rip) left.
Keep in mind that Su is from Hiroshima.
@thenormalman3409 second theory said:
"They directly refer to Ragnarok, which is the destruction of the world in Norse myth in their lyrics and of course the imagery invokes the destruction from atomic bombs. Ultimately, the message of the song is to keep up your spirits when everything else is going wrong."
This is the first I've seen the name Mikio! Was she also a member?

Is this a piano version as well?
@@Abigirl_Reacts Oh yes it is.
There's no going back now :)
I only really ever get watery eyed at Beethoven or chopin, so they have joined a very exclusive club.
It's my favourite song by them because it's the most subtly powerful IMO. The writer of this song has a lot to do with that, but Su takes it to another level.
this is my favorite song too! especially this version 🤘🦊🤘
i love to see u react babymetal. please react all babymetal live version 😂😂❤
Of course! On it boss! 🤘🦊🤘
@@Abigirl_Reacts 🤟🤟
The holding hands part ALWAYS gets to me! At the time, it was still just Su and Moa, and seeing the 3 white figures holding hands made me miss Yui and BABYMETAL being a trio.🤘🦊🤘
6 yrs of silence.🍅❤
I didn't even get the reference at the time of watching it and it still made me emotional. I KNOW I would have started bawling if I got that in real time haha
It's okay to show us that you have a soul by expressing some tears. It's a truly beautiful song and this performance really enhances that.
You heard him people, embrace my soul! 🤘🦊🤘
I was out at a gig on Wednesday night.. and I'd forgotten to take my contact lens holder case thingy incase I needed to moisten them up at bit. So on the way back, my contact lenses start drying out somewhat.. vision is getting a bit blurry and I need some moisture. Fire up Monochrome The First Take video and the tears start flowing easily with SU-METAL's voice.. it works every damn time 😂
Haha who needs contact fluid when you have BM? 🤘🦊🤘
here's my tumb up
Thank you! 🤘🦊🤘
I'm trying to get myself excited about creating a react channel too, just to cry during the recordings lol
Creating a channel was so nerve wrecking at first. I still get nervous! But you get better as you go. Especially when you compare to the first reaction video haha
nice reaction on a great song but I prefer to read the subtitles from left to right

Oh I screen shot all of this! I appreciate the work, thank you! 🤘🦊🤘
This version makes me pretty emotional in a good way, so beautiful
Thank you for the suggestion! Glad you liked the video🤘🦊🤘
And this isn't even her most emotional song. Akatsuki Unfinished imo is her most emotional work... If/when you get to it, keep an eye on her facial expression as she sings...Bring tissues. The other song with the feels is No Rain No Rainbow from legend S Baptism XX. 😁😁😁😁🤘🦊🤘
Im not sure ill be able to hold back the tears next time haha 🤘🦊🤘
The hands are Sakura Gakuin.
I'll have to look that up! 🤘🦊🤘
@@Abigirl_Reacts BabyMetal are all from a j-pop band called Sakura Gakuin and were on a TV show. It is fun to see them before BabyMetal.
Yes this is the period where they were only Su and moa,. The three backup singers, are the avengers. Shortly after they became a trio, and did the first take version of The One.
Two of the avengers were long gone at this point.
I don’t think they got Riho and Kano for this.
A lot of people are talking about the one now! Added to my to do list 🤘🦊🤘
aquelas 3 que aparece uma e a momo era uma dica de que ela seria adicionada a baby metal por isso um trio ^^
Best decision they made
This is right at the cusp of Momo joining. So it was Su and Moa, with Momo in white and hidden. The First Take shoots two videos per artist, and like you it's one take, no do overs. The second video had Momo also, and they were 3. That was released a month later. So yes, this is just as the change was happening.
yeah and the second song was "The One" which is where the name of the fans is from, so showing the 3 of them are now 1 Babymetal.
I don’t think Momoko was one of the three in white.
It seems more likely that it was METALVERSE members.
Momoko’s even taller than Su.
Great reaction! Thank you! 🤘🦊🤘
Aw thanks so much for watching, glad you enjoyed it!🤘🦊🤘
The 3 Singers from behind represents the original babymetal trio. Its a tribute to the original member Yuimetal who had to resign for medical reasons in 2018. After her resign there were 3 alternating replacements that were called together Avengers. One of them was Momometal which became finally the permanent replacement.
Momo must have been so happy to join officially! 🤘🦊🤘
Yes, this was a short while before Momometal became an official member.
Glad I realized that! 🤘🦊🤘that makes sense
私はライブのカラテで泣きますよ☆
Maybe I'll do karate soon!
"I can hear every tiny mistake. If there's any. Which I assume, you know, she's human." HA! Bold of you to assume the Queen of Metal can make mistakes. : ^p
No seriously though, it happens, but to my knowledge, not on this one, which is why that comment made me laugh. ^^
I'm starting to be suspicious of her being human. She's TOO pitch perfect 🤘🦊🤘
i think you should keep off the subs first time listening, to not be distracted by additional text to read and instead listen and watch the performance in
front of you.
Haha that's exactly what I said! But many insisted otherwise. Kinda torn there hehe 🤘🦊🤘
What do you mean "didn't cry"? Ref, can we see the replay? Pretty sure I saw a small tear on the corner of the eye at some point!
Haha get on the replay cam and zoom in!
No Rain, No Rainbow, particularly the one performed in her hometown of Hiroshima (which as you could imagine carries a lot of weight and meaning), is brutal in the most beautiful way, if you want to cry I recommend it ❤❤
I'm not sure I WANT to cry but I'm sure it'll happen haha 🤘🦊🤘
@@Abigirl_Reacts 🤣🤣
for me almost another way of saying the same thing as Monochrome
@@astrafaan I agree!
I'm not going to cry, I'm not going to cry. Not easy is it. Well, babymetal makes you feel every song with a passion that no one does. Babymetal is just... ...A M A Z I N G. Thank you again for the great reaction.
Thank you for watching! 🤘🦊🤘
you have to see THE ONE on the first take, that have momo
It's on my to do list!
1st take is amazing. They only give artists one take to record their songs.
Similar to this channel then, one take reactions! Haha 🤘🦊🤘
You can listen to it a second time, so long as you also show us the first time. :p And *I* cried, it would have been fine if you had, too. XD
I've listened to this song on repeat for an hour now LOL 🤘🦊🤘
Please do Akatsuki "UNFINISHED" live version if you want to cry like crazy. SuMetal doing SuMetal things
First time hearing this request, thank you! 🤘🦊🤘
@@Abigirl_Reacts 👀
Great reaction, thanks!
Yes, this is from early March 2023 and they were hinting aggressively on the addition of a third member.
And yes, Su-metal voice has something that gets you. I'm here because of that.
🤘🦊
Happy to have you here on this journey with me! 🤘🦊🤘
"The feels". Indeed.
hello i love your channel. babymetal is my live i love them so much. can you do a reaction to band maid from now on. there my second favourite japanese band of all time after babymetal
I'll check it out!
