    I recommend the more premium carabiner. It has more of a “pointed” tip that can create much more force per square inch.

    Thought of this, too. I (sometimes) carry one in addition to pepper spray/folding knife/expandable baton--depending on where I'm going. I like the ellipse-shaped (both ends shaped the same) type with the turnable locking nut on one side--makes it solid. They are a LOT easier on the hand to punch with than brass knuckles.

    Harbor Freight has bigger ones. They are meant to carry heavy stuff like paint cans, BUT they are so convenient when you need to carry shopping bags!

    • @I_Of_Providence
      @I_Of_Providence 18 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@Xonid1 i don't think you can. i think the only way to keep it from rolling is to get an appropriate sized carbine, so the thickness of your hand makes the carbine fit snug. i think this is why Matt kept talking about the size of his hands. since he has big thick hands it's snug to his fist.

    Really enjoy your video’s. Using things most people wouldn’t even think of are excellent. When I go into places I make it a point to look for exits, potential weapons and scour the room for potential bad actors. Trying always of being aware of my surroundings. My kids always say I overreact but mindset is important and always being aware of things around me. Good teaching and thank you!

    So to be clear I have an other comment that has been challenged by some viewers so I did some checking. New Hampshire requires a concealed weapon permit and four other states allow brass knuckles. But improvised knuckles are illegal in all fifty states.
    Like another example of law a section of broom handle is a dangerous object but if you wrap tape or string for grip it becomes a deadly weapon. So before following someone's advice besure to look it up butter cup.
    Take a self defence class cause these kind of short cuts can get you the victim time and a huge civil suit.

  • @brianmabin5947

    This could also double as a extension weapon, such as with paracord and a lug nut. With the paracord wrapped around it you could easily throw this out at somebody retrieve it put it back on hand and then go to work on them.

However, you are trying to use carabiner for purpose of knuckle duster, which btw. is not build for that purpose so you will hurt yourself more then you think. You can try to hit sandbag with that thing and you will see for yourself. Best luck

    Hi Matt! I bought one about two years ago from Ace Hardware to hang from my garage door opener “channel iron.” Needed to enlarge the hole I was using. What for? Super band pulldowns of various types. Nice tip. Bye the way, I called it a carabiner also, but it turned out it’s called a “spring clip!” Any way you slice it , will be made in (how do you say it?) China! 😂

    As a former sheriff we used the leg shackles in a similar manner when you had to deal with marshalling guys who would attack you during transport time. You are already comprised carrying the shackles because you only had one free hand. So we developed techniques to take the advantage away. You can't fail when you fight in jail! 😉

    Hi! I just discovered your channel, and I really appreciate your bo staff videos. I thought about this idea years ago, and I ran into a couple of problems. These problems may have more to do with the shape of my hand.
    1. The carabiner didn't fit snug around my knuckles and fingers. So when I practiced punching the bag with it on, the extra space between my hand and the carabiner was problematic on impact.
    2. Where the carabiner opens and closes, opened and closed on my hand on impact.
    So what I decided to do instead was hold it with two fingers in the smaller loop and swing it kind of like a slap jack.
    Watching your video, I was thinking about what you said about the paracord and nuts. It would be nice to have a braided paracord handle with the keyring on the end and the carabiner on the other. That paracord handle, nylon strap, leather strap, or whatever could be used for the slap jack handle.

    Two points.
    1. Don't be surprised when you break a bone in your hand when it rolls on impact.
    2. Have a good lawyer on speed dial because it construes as a felony to use that object as a weapon.

    • @richiefields4799
      @richiefields4799 13 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

      So there is no such thing as a legal self defense weapon other than kicking, biting, and gouging?

    • @evelynwaugh4053
      @evelynwaugh4053 11 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @richiefields4799 Self-defense has to be proportional and reasonable. If someone hits you with their bare fist, hitting them with brass knuckles isn't proportional, and it may not be reasonable either. In some cases, like if you are puny or outnumbered, you may get the benefit of the doubt. The court will look at whether you had a reasonable fear of death or great bodily harm. Often, evidence is excluded, such as evidence of the assailant's prior violence, which can make it harder to prove self-defense. See Arizona vs. Fish for a very sobering example.

    • @studer6884
      @studer6884 10 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @richiefields4799 depending on your jurisdiction. Have a good non self defense reason for carrying any tool and as long as you didn't start or encourage the fight, you say you feared for your safety and used what happened to be available. Consult your local courts for what constitutes legal self defense where you live.

    • @JohnCommor
      @JohnCommor 9 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @studer6884 still horrible advice . Pathetic what some one will do for views. But don't let that stop you go head hit a heavy bag with it on and let me know how well you can defend your self after the first punch. Moron

    They’re some pretty decent improvised weapons hidden in plain sight indeed. That larger steel one reminds me of a tekko and the smaller locking one you could probably use as a one finger knuckle duster, but with the palm support. I’ve seen a similar thing with a padlock before many years ago.
    I couldn’t agree more about the phones too. I tend to just glance at mine or just look up frequently if I have it out, preferably by a wall or something. The thing about that guy falling on the tracks rings a bell, I think I remember hearing about or seeing that. I hope he’s ok, it’s ridiculous the amount of absolute psychopaths are roaming out there amongst us all
