Re: your "sound issues" in your new studio. If you want to reduce the room acoustic you need to use sound deadening on at least one of the SIX surfaces of the "cube" (that's four walls, the ceiling and the floor). Start by sticking acoustic tiles to the whole ceiling. If that's not enough, put some on the "4th wall" (that's Film/Television-speak for the wall behind the camera). This will improve things immeasurably while allowing you to have nice things hanging on the walls in-vision. I used to be a boom-op on a big national Soap, I know what I'm talking about (I was a 1st Cat too, and that means a lot more to me 🤩). Loving your work by the way, daahlings x.
If the new Colnago is more aero than the V4Rs, even if it were a couple of hundred grams heavier this would be an advantage for Pogačar because he mainly wins races by attacking and riding solo, whether that's a Classic or a Grand Tour stage. Once he's got the gap he ain't coming back, and saving 20W at 50kph just makes that more inevitable.
It's not bad, maybe a slight bit roomy only. Just bring the mics in closer so the direct sound ratio is ultegra vs 105 stronger. A wee bit but maybe expensive. You could add a compressor in line to take off some tops if someone starts raising their voice over some wahoo disagreement.
12:39 You've taken the % he wins by as his absolute potential. He takes 6 minutes because its a comfortable margin to take into account a bad day or a mechanical. He usually waits until near the end of a stage to add extra time over a shortish effort to dominate and psychologically damage his opponents. He doesn't stop at 6 minute lead because that's all he's got. You can't compare power figures, winning margins and wattage losses independently of race tactics, season long workloads, team-mates and hundreds of other factors.
I feel like you're underestimating new bikes. At the start of October I upgraded from a Cannondale CAAD12 ultegra, aluminum wheels, rim brake to a Specialized SL8 Pro. I rode that previous bike for 8 years. From the first ride I did on the SL8 I couldn't believe the difference. It was nearly a different sport to me. I made all the upgrades at the same time: deep carbon wheels, carbon frame, carbon finish kit, electronic shifting, wider tires, tubeless wheels, disc brakes. I basically jumped forward 20 years in tech minus a couple of things. I'd argue my ultegra 11 speed well maintained mechanical shifting was better. What impresses me is how less tired and sore I feel after a long ride. How the bike communicates to me to ride a bit faster at speed. A mid tier aluminum bike would leave any pro grand tour rider feeling more physically exhausted, compared to the level of comfort on offer in modern road bikes. Being less tired makes the rider faster, not just the aero, drivetrain efficiency, and rolling resistance. To be fair to my CAAD12 I think it is a great bike. I still use it. I was shocked by the difference between the two bikes. I'll give some credit to specialized but I think it is mostly due to all the advancements in the last 20 years.
Not the Sacré-Cœur, but the Domaine de Saint-Cloud. I assure you the bike didn’t suffer a single scratch, though I’ll make sure to bring a shadow stand next time!
Not on any bike, but on any steel or aluminium road bike with claris system. The most important crucial aspect of a bike are already on bikes starting form ~ 1K €. Carbon wheels aren’t needed at all.
An alternative question should be; could Pog win a grand tour on any other GT team’s bike? That answer is “yes”, in my opinion. No, not on just any bike, as Dr Bridgewood commented, the performance gain from GT-level bikes is substantial.
what are your thoughts on Col de la Loze for next year's TDF . I think it will lead to a major breakaway shortly after the ski hire shop and restaurant car park around 850m up (after the short mid way descent) as the gradient almost doubles and the wide open road landscape could be a wind nightmare
Ok, I’ll address the elephant in the room. What’s happened with Alex’s vintage Pinarello? I mean, it looks great up there on the wall! Perhaps a bit of foreshadowing to a GCNV (vintage) channel? I throughly enjoyed Ollie’s vintage Bottecchia video, so I hope we do see more! Keep it up fellas!
They did say it was 20 watts for the bike only at 50kph so I’d be curious what the results will be with a rider. Plus was it compared to a V4RS with the same wheels?
I thought I remembered seeing a rule in the UCI Rule Book saying that the seat tube has to be in line with the bottom bracket. Wouldn’t that make the new Colnago illegal?
It seems the flaw in looking at Tadej's margin over Jonas is Jonas had a very aero bike and Tadej didn't and still won. Not sure that he could win on aluminum, but I'm not sure the bike he was riding was that much less aero than an aluminum bike.
Super expensive bikes are that price in order to be exclusive. It's kind of like shoes having no business being as expensive as they could be. Or diamonds, even.
How did Alex go from: that dude whose name we can't remember... all the way to Alex: the guy with the ferrari and collection of dura ace cranks in his garage. 😅
Question to ask is how far back would you have to take it before the winning Tour de France bike of those editions now would not be a winning bike today for the Pog. Those Postal Treks were lighter than what is being used now I think.
Hello Tech Team. Speculation about how a racer will do on whatever bicycle? It this truly worthy of your mental energy and consuming time on this show? I love it when you bring out topics that are based upon facts and not variables that will never be introduced into the pro pelaton. Suggestion, discuss the different bikes that Pogacar has ridden in the past. Those are facts worthy of this discussion.
Is that press release language basically saying Shimano will be releasing a new “Pogi backed” groupset to compete with the new Red that was released last year? 🤔
I think he might be able to do it even on my bike :) here are some specs below... what do you think #GCN Frame set: Specialized Allez Sprint 56cm 2018 Rim Break Shifters: Shimano Ultegra 6800 FD: Shimano Ultegra 6800 RD: Shimano Ultegra 6800 Crankset: Specialized S-Works 50/34 170mm Cassette: Shimano Ultegra 6800 11-28T Handlebars: Zipp Aero SL70 Aero Carbon 42cm Stem: S-Works Sl 120mm 13 RI Titanium Bolts Seat post: Specialized carbon aero Saddle: Specialized Power 143mm Wheelset: HED Jet Six Plus with Conventional GP500 S TR 28mm & Pirelli P Zero SmarTube EVO TPU Weight: 17.1 lb 7.7 kg
Every time I hear these questions I can't help to think of the first consideration for an answer. Pogacar (or anyone) can only produce so many watts, period. Doesn't matter what bike he's on, 435 watts (or whatever) is 435 watts. If we want to compare bike efficiencies we need to mount an electric motor on the frame, adjust it to a given power and move it from bike to bike to bike without changing this power setting. Perhaps in the near future we'll be able to build a robot that can ride a bike and give us these answers in a real scientific experimental setting?
I think the all the guys who race for GC need the absolute best technology for the exact reasons Oli states. The differences are minute and every 0.1 watt lost adds up over time. The last 2 TdFs have proven you can't win that race at 99%. 2023 Tadej had poor prep and blew up, this year Jonas was the same. Rider and equipment have to be at their very best. As for the new Colnago, it's a bike! It's still not as whacky as the Trek. It's not as whacky as a Tri bike! 😂😂
Was Cuthbert desperate to finish the show to go to the toilet or something?! Ollie was on a roll and highly entertaining but Cuthbert wanted to finish ASAP
There is one news item that doesn't effect me at all, but i haven't seen it being mentioned on GCN. In Australia social media will be banned for under 16 year olds, and that would include Strava and any Strava alternative. If you want to write a definition of what is "social media" then you'll definitely include Strava, so whilst it's not what most people will think of with their silly new law, it'll have to be banned. So you'll have more 15 year olds being fat in australia.
He is so doped to the gills, he could win the tour on a unicycle enough if he gave the rest of the dopers, ( and they all are dopers) a three week head start. At this point they should just give dopestrong back hisTdF wins.Equipment doesn't change your Vo2Max. drugs do.
carbonti chainrings literally weigh the same as the shimano ones. dont get me wrong, the chainrings look cool, but your spending hundreds more dollars/euros for the same weight and arguably worse shifting performance. if they want a proper weight saving, shimano needs to make carbon cranks.
I think the new Colnago looks terrible. It is probably fast and fantastic to ride. But it looks so awful that I´d rather quit riding than to be seen on that thing. And I think it is a bit weird that the ned Van Rysel aerobike doesn´t get talked about almost at all. And Colnago will probably ly drop the Ferrari collaboration since both Colnago and McLaren are owned by UAE now. The only TH-cam bike channel I have seen talk about it is GC Performance.
Great video guys ! I love the looks of the new Colnago and I would never buy one. BSNYC said in his column yesterday, maybe this new bike is the turning point and the manufacturers will start making F1 style bikes for pros and more practical bikes for us regular folk. Dare I say, mechanical rim brake , easy maintenance, lower cost ?
What do you think of Colnago's new bike? 🚲 Do you think Pogačar could win on any bike? 🏆
Any road bike, for sure. On a gravel bike with road tires, probably.
@@oninjadaburaca wow!
I want to see him win on ‘el Alto’ make it happen GCN
Alex, would you give it a super nice if Colnago included a shadow stand as part of the deal?
He can win on a Penny-Farthing. The 2025 season is over already. 😭😭

yeah I was going to recommend possibly lav mics instead of an overhead as well (The sound here has improved but is still a bit reverb-alicious)
The Y1RS is SUPER nice! I think it looks really cool. I can’t wait to see what Tadej does with it!
The frame yes but that split handlebar tho, not for me

Audio still needs some work :) You'll get there.
🎧 doing our best! next week, we've got this! 👌
It's better though.

Nothing wrong with the audio. THEY ARE PLAYING YOU

You unraveled the chain!!! Thank you. Oh, I doubt TP will actually ride this bike unless it gets to 6.8kg.

100% don't believe Pog would lose 30 seconds by switching from Dura-Ace to 105.
Fact is Pogacar winning the tour without an aero bike poses a question of how much of an impact it will make this year. Exciting year ahead!
That Gios, in the bike vault, was gorgeous in its famous Gios Blue. Can't believe Alex was unaware of them.
Would love to see Tadej on the Eurobike
The new Colnago was a nice for me at first because it looked so weird, but the more I see it, the more it grows on me. I'll go super nice
In the vault, that's a Trek ALR!!!!! I have the same bike only in black
That C60's a super nice every day. Also, I'm not sure that's not Blackpool.
so long as there is a duraace chain and GP 5000 tires and the bike is less than 10kg. Pog would probs win on anything from the past 20 years.
I feel like you're underestimating new bikes. At the start of October I upgraded from a Cannondale CAAD12 ultegra, aluminum wheels, rim brake to a Specialized SL8 Pro. I rode that previous bike for 8 years.

The acoustics of your new studio have improved. However, there is room for improvement.
we're on it!
The new Colnago is uber nice
I think people are just afraid of change. The Y1RS is a supernice for me!
What is Alex's Shimano sponsorship tier? Boxes filled with Dura-Ace, must be at a good level.
So a garage door is a nicer background than Paris?
Hope mom doesn’t hit the opener by accident!😊
31:36 nope, thats a standard stock emonda alr pain job. They used to have a few products with a similar theme like some very flashy shoes.
Great show!
Acoustic panels should solve the reverb issue of the room.
I said outloud when the video first came on... 'sound is a lot better'.
M.C. Escher would love the Y1RS and so do I.
Only a nice from me. I'll take the orange supernice on the wall behind you any day thanks!
The Y1RS is looking a little strange, but when Tadej starts to ride with it, it will be just looking fast
Not the Sacré-Cœur, but the Domaine de Saint-Cloud. I assure you the bike didn’t suffer a single scratch, though I’ll make sure to bring a shadow stand next time!
Ollie looks like he's just come in from a night on the lash (in 1985 - lose the backwards baseball cap!).
The new Colnago looks to have borrowed a lot from the Cervelo S5, just changed the seat post design around.
A super nice BUT, it has to have a shadow stand!

Alex put the Dura-Ace parts back into the bottomless Dura-Ace spares box under his desk!
To accomodate round water bottles, change the cages.
Lets talk about the stuffed beaver on the bike frame... Buc-ees?

Week 91 of asking for a "The UCI has no jurisdiction here" t-shirt
How did Alex go from: that dude whose name we can't remember... all the way to Alex: the guy with the ferrari and collection of dura ace cranks in his garage. 😅
I would like to see how Pogacar performs without the Gianetti and Maxtin juice
Question to ask is how far back would you have to take it before the winning Tour de France bike of those editions now would not be a winning bike today for the Pog. Those Postal Treks were lighter than what is being used now I think.
Y1RS does the displaced seatpost make it more comfortable?
Ach, you took the orange, steel Pinerello apart!
yeah, think of it as wallpaper!
You'd need to factor in the team as well.
The sound in new office is pretty bad . :d
Just a Nice? Yea it’s unconventional, but it’s beautiful. And I’m not even a Colnago fan.
Thanks Alex , Dr O , and crew . Si hates bells ! Just sayin .

The question is not if Pogacar could win on any bike, the real question is if GCN can make Beats Solo 4s sound like dollar store ear buds.
Gios - saddle should be tilted down
Bright green bike - makes sense, safety wise
Trek - saddle tilt is too steep, too much weight on the arms
Could Tadej win on a Steelnovo is the real question
does it a Hank house studio?)

Depends if it's in biggie smalls, wheels are aligned, and no gubbins on it 😊
Of course. Interesting question, perhaps, is could he win on any team?
He can win in claris groupset that's how good he is.
I sent in a picture of my bike for the bike vault over a month ago and it haven’t been on yet. Should I resend it or do I just have to be patient?
Nice.
The graphics/lettering on the Canyon frame looks blurry and keeps making me think I need new glasses. 🤓

But can he win in a custom Brompton TdF version? Hmmm
