Yeah, I think there is room for this too. They are producing cameras for their drones, the obvious thing to do is to repackage their drone cameras into a non-drone package. The Pocket 3 has been a great success, so why not offer a ‘Pocket 3 pro’ using one of their better drone cameras. Makes sense to me.
If this camera is really coming, it would probably be quite innovative or at least have some amazing features... I actually predicted that a DJI camera that competes with Canon, Sony and Nikon could be very interesting... I'm excited about this possibility!
@@skyyefinance IBIS is the worst garbage that ever happened to a camera. It permanently and irreversibly cripples sensor performance and takes away control over the outcome only to make some TH-cam muppets happy… 🤦🏼♂️
It would be fantastic if DJI launches a compact expert full frame that looks like the hasseblad xpan. If DJI wants to bring the younger generation together, it could integrate android so that it can directly share photos on social networks, as the Yongnuo brand did it.
I would be surprised if DJI comes out with a photo centric camera of any kind. At best it will be a video camera first and a photo camera second. If they did come out with another camera I would expect it to be combined with some of their other tech like their auto focus and or gimbal tech, or maybe something entirely new.
@@gkochanowsky yes... that's not too crazy to imagine they want to blend a brand they own more closely into their own. If you've been to a DJI store you will see a Hasselblad section in the store. They don't act like it's a well kept secret.
Just for fun, I’m going to suggest a ‘way out’ Idea (that I don’t actually believe will be this new camera, but I like the idea)….DJI to product the camera, but label is Hasselblad, it’s a range finder style camera with interchangeable lenses, but it has a 65:24 sensor! A true digital xpan….a bit like the original film xpans, which were actually built by Fuji for Hasselblad, and Fuji had their own, less successful model named TX. DJI will have their version of this digital xpan named the ‘DX’ and Hasselblad will have their version named ‘D-xpan’. They will announce 3 lenses at launch, a 30mm, 45 & 90. Just for fun, but if I’m close, you heard about it here first 😂
My immediate thought was: we see a lot of Hasselblad XiiD cameras as free give-a-way to TH-camrs; from a marketing perspective this only makes sense when something new is coming up. It seems Hasselblad wants to make the brand more acceptable as a choice. Either new medium frame models, a price drop or who knows a camera with a smaller sensor. Still, one would need to build a whole new lens system in the latter case.
I absolutely love the look coming from the 12 megapixel RAW on DJI Osmo Pocket 3. I would immediately buy a compact DJI with THAT LOOK and a nice 40-50 megapixel images!
Sony bricked the Bt module on my FX30 with one of their firmware update, so I can not share images to mobile phone anymore. And they refuse to repair it for free. I will switch to dji, whenever its possible, their customer support is outstanding and their software support is the best.
Sometimes internal support and marketing people can get a bit wacky and accidentally leak information on social media, but it is quite rare and usually not so pejorative. "Mysterious new product launch" is pretty darn blatant.
From DJI? From Hasselblad?... If it's from DJI, full frame camera, probably be mid to high in price. If it is from Hasselblad, full frame range finder, you will be looking at Leica prices.
I need DJI to do what Leica won’t and make a rangefinder-esque full frame body with L mount. Leica makes beautiful cameras, but they put little to no stock in their tech and reliability beyond the build of the body. Panasonic keeps missing the mark form factor wise. Sigma always has to handicap themselves with dumb caveats to their bodies. This only leaves the company with the least experience to do what the other brands won’t.
DJI’s fame and reputation is in breaking new ground and innovation. What new feature, not to mention a new photographic product can they introduce that the other brands have not?
I really hope DJI makes a mirrorless camera with a small sensor. 1 inch sensor would be great. Those lenses would be very small and good for travel. Full frame is overkill for most people. A video focused camera low megapixel is best, parfocal lens would be great.
Personally I'd prefer a "larger" sensor camera that's mostly a better smart phone-- fixed lens with digital zoom that maintains IQ, fake DOF when desired, fake HDR when desired, perfect in-cam stabilization. They can make it look like a 1960s point and shoot if they want but I want the best of both camera worlds.
Well, the Chinese are experts in cagey answers; it's like trying to read the grounds from a cup of Turkish coffee. If indeed, they are going down the ILC route, then I see one of two options. Making a competitor to Fujifilm's creator-oriented cameras but driven with concise, easy-peasy software to compete with the likes of cell phones. It is a far riskier move to compete with pro-oriented FF cameras with the flexibility (and inherent complexities) needed by professional and serious amateur photographers. In this case given their propensity to copy, I imagine an amalgam of software from all major Japanese manufacturers giving you one hot mess to deal with.
So About DJI owning Hassleblad… Hassleblad and Phase One have a Legendary Feud about who knows what but it means that you cannot use Hassleblads with Capture One Pro, the Industry Standard tethering software. This has been terrible for Hassleblad’s business. I almost never seen their cameras on commercial photography sets. Do you think the sale to DJI will squash this beef? The Hassleblad products are really nice and would probably do well with commercial photographers, but no Capture One Pro is a deal breaker
A REAL SMALL MFT - GX1 or GM1 form factor, with up-to-date technology, communicating to SmartPhone and even Gimbal... sounds like a niche, but neither Olympus Systems nor Panasonic care about this market anymore and MFT users voice their demand every time there is a chance PS: MFT as a B-roll or Studio cam? Don't know who is buying that Logitech Mevo Core at a price which gives you a Blackmagic MFT... . Half THAT price would be a "NO BRAINER" for every serious streamer.
Nailed it. This is what MFT shooters (myself included) have been clamoring for. The established (and possibly dying, in the terms of OMDS) MFT brands aren't interested in taking any chances, we've gotta hope that rowdy little upstart DJI comes in and saves the day 🏆
Hi Andrea, does your source have any hints about a DJI Osmo Pocket 4? I've seen the freewellgear's blog and they seem certain about the Pocket 4 coming in early 2025.
I can’t see much interest in a Leica M-series competitor with zero photographic legacy. However, I’m entirely onboard with the idea of an Osmo Pocket Pro with S35 sensor. Something as easy to use as the current pocket 3, but with a fast zoom and larger S35 or full frame sensor… built in NDs is a must. It needs a removable battery, so that it can be used for a whole day’s shoot. That would be a big win and a true breakthrough. The current pocket is useful, but it’s not an A or even B-cam. The Ronin 4D is just too dam large and heavy. It’s not a convenient camera to carry and attracts way too much attention. There needs to be something in between. Something that has all the key features and is convenient to use. Ronin 2D… or Pocket Cine Pro? Whatever they call it, they need to do it. If they do it right, it will be a huge success.
DJI can do two things , either make a android camera for real this time ( or even those lens type cameras sony made a dacade ago ) as they have great android apps , they are heavy on computational photography as well with all the stabalization and hdr features i believe something more powerful like the chips we have in our flagship phones would sure make a lot of tha possible , think like a panasony s5 ii slapped to an flagship android ( and for the love of god , there will be good screen on the camera ) or Just a bigger osmo pocket or something like the handheld zenmuse camera that they used to have , the one that recorded cinema dng ?

DJI owns Hasselblad and Hasselblad once had a tie-in with Sony to make upscale versions of their APS-c camera. I’m expecting a very exclusive (and expensive) DJI/Hasselblad camera. Full-frame rangefinder style, analog controls, film simulations. See where I’m going here?
