My theory is that he was a Dick Grayson from an alternate universe where he turned villainous. That would explain why he has the same voice and skill level and knew about the Red X identity and how to get past the security to get to the costume.

But, there's some problems with that theory. 1) the Red X suit has a voice changer to create that voice, so the voice doesn't really make the difference. 2) If it were another Dick Grayson that knew about the Red X suit, that implies he's made one himself, so why would he need to steal one? 3) Why would Dick Grayson call himself "kid"? 4) If he really knew all about the security system, why would he get discovered on the way out?
My personal theory is that it's Grant Wilson, the son of Slade, which doesn't have any reason why he can't be older than Dick Grayson (so he can call Dick Grayson "kid"), he'd be trained by Slade, so him outclassing the titans makes sense, and he'd know all about the Red X suit because his father had plenty of experience seeing what the Red X suit can do and knew who had it. Also, Grant Wilson, being another Deathstroke, is already associated with skull themed imagery, so him wearing the skull mask of the Red X suit would be fitting.

In regards to the cartoon, I always thought it would be good if Red X was Grant Wilson since he never appeared in the show. I remember I had this whole theory about HIVE and how the reason Slade wanted Robin because he reminded him of his son. But as for the comics, I have no idea who Red X is. At first, I figured Damian but as it stands I don't think so.

I think they wanted to avoid involving death stroke’ s family with the new direction they took his character. Death stroke was driven by revenge and bloodlust, a killing machine fueled by raw emotion and decades of killing experience. Slade in the show was meticulous, unknown, and besides Robin, never let his emotions or personal attachments distract from his objective.

I wanted Red X to be a Slade kid, too. I’m more into Slade than Deathstroke, even the name is better. Him having a son that paralleled Robin in this way would’ve been. Lately I’ve thinking Clown Killer would become Red X because of his design, even tho it’s way later. Been Thinking that even more now knowing Red X is coming back after all this time.

I dont know what would've hapenned to him without flashpoint, but the winged suit was more fitting for him and with how easilly he went back to being robin nowadays is clear "Batman jr" isnt for him. Doubt that a posible red hodd jr would be either. It would turn out to be just a less-stupid version of drake.

I know you're having trouble figuring out what type of content to do for your channel but i personally like whatever your doing. As long as it's a video you want to do, structure doesn't really matter. We the audience can feel the passion and love you put into your work. Unscripted videos like this are also nice as they feel very raw and natural and most importantly like a real conversation. I know that doesn't exactly pay the bills but I just hope you see this and know we're still enjoying your content and that you're a great creator no matter what TH-cam's shitty algorithm says.

Plus it’s possible Tynion isn’t writing for the parts of Future State where Red X will feature so it doesn’t matter what his plans are or aren’t. It’s not like he owns the character, other people can write about and use him as they like. Plus it’s not like Future State will even last that long so it doesn’t really matter what they do with characters, everything will go back to normal soon enough.

Okay I get where he's coming from with not Jason Todd but here's my thought it could be Jason Todd as after the whole joker being like I made you my Robin thing which did mess with him quite a bit even only for a short time potentially it might be enough to put enough of a bad taste in Jason mouth so he changes his identity to red x

My theory is that Red X is an equivalent of Robin or Red Hood from Earth 3 trained by Owlman, that will explaining why his abilities are similar to other Batman partners.

Having a completely anonymous person as a threat/ally that no one really knows could open a lot new interesting things. I feel like we should always know him simply as Red X.

I'm actually hoping and betting on Tim being Red X. God knows we haven't seen him in comics for a good while, and Red X goes hand in hand with Robin. And, I dunno, someone we barely just got introduced to or someone completely new filling the role of Red X doesn't sit right with me. I feel like real fan service would be Tim, and I'm hoping that's who he is.
Tim fanservice for me would be getting him back into his sleek red and black Robin costume, he looked Hella fine in it.

Alot of people are saying Grant Wilson, which I have to agree it does make sense, so personally either Grant Wilson, Jason Todd, or a clone/alternate version of grayson
Honestly I think the Clown Hunter will become the new Robin, with Damien giving up the mantle and the way that Batman is gunna try and help him it makes more sense to be brought in as that.

When it comes to the cartoon, I agree with Beast Boy in that one DC Nation short and that one guess on his conspiracy board from the actual cartoon, he's _obviously_ Jason Todd.

I agree. Even tho he calls Robin kid it makes more sense for it to be him than Grant. Slade in that show didn’t let his emotions effective his objectives so I don’t see him caring about Grant as much as Deathstroke would

Red X always calls Robin "kid" implying he's older, and Robin in the show is confirmed to be Dick Grayson, and is still wearing the mantle, making the idea of getting through Jason Todd, Tim Drake, and Damien Wayne as Robin in that time highly unlikely. Even if it was Damien and he went straight to being Red X that early (despite it being likely that Damien would be less than 10 years old, given that Dick is still a teenager). I'd far sooner believe it's Grant Wilson, Slade's son, whom doesn't necessarily have a commonly known marker for how old he has to be compared to other characters and has the skills to outclass Robin.

I had seen Red X as a new temporary mantle. Dick used it, so I felt Jason used it for a bit before shifting to Red Hood. So it feels right that the new Red X would be a newer character like Clown Hunter.

Don’t be down on yourself man. You make great content. It’s good for people who don’t read comics but find them interesting and maybe want to start, people who read comics but want to keep up with stories they don’t have time to read, and people who read lots of comics but still value other people’s opinions and theories.
I always imaged Red X was just speedy on his downfall in the show and itd be explored later on but I dont exactly remember the show too well since I was hella young when I watched it
Jason makes a lot of sense, but the mystery lacking a confirmed answer helps keep him popular. At least that was my thinking before this vid. If they add him to the main universe... well then that hamstrings his chances at anonymity and makes overlap with another Robin a less than stellar idea. It's still possible given some of the nonsense that former sidekicks and Titans members go through though.

Ironically before I even knew of Teen titans and red X. I ended up being called RedX as a nickname due to the scar on my back. Youd think elementary kids would have a bigger imagination but now its just stuck with me haha
Red X is the best character that came out of the teen titans. I loved that show and the episodes he was in was pure gold .happy to she who he actually is after all these years .

Hey Drake, I realy like to see you talking about comics this way. I'm from Brazil, and I used to be the most literate (forgive me if my English is not 100%, I'm not sure if I'm using the corect words, lol) of my friends when talking about comics ( comic books are not that big of a deal here on my neighbourhood, so anything is something ), and I feel like I can almost see myself on their shoes whenever I'm listening to you on these vids. This's been a great way to unburden this pandemia vibe that has kept me from socializing with other human beings, so I realy need to thank you for that. For that, and for feeling that I have somewhat of a companion in such weird times. Specially with the chair cameos, lol.

That honestly makes a ton of sense. I was leaning more towards Damian as well, but I guess I missed those art pieces. Bao is such an interesting character with tons of potential and I think establishing him as Red X would be such a fun way to go.

Edit: I have seen the video now, and I think Clown hunter is a good option, but I think DC is trying to get Jason away from the Red hood persona. Batman asked him to do it multiple times and it was a sub plot (if not the actual plot) of three jokers. That's why I think It's gonna be Jason, but hey that's just a theory... Wait wrong chanel

After all he went through with the outlaws, you’d think he’d be ready for a new identity. Even Speedy dropped Red Arrow for Arsenal. Then again, I think lots of characters desperately need new names. It’s cool they never said Deathstroke, only called him Slade, it was cool on JLU Black Manta was changed to Devil Ray. Much, much cooler. It would be the biggest W if we could all stop saying Aquaman and Aqualad. Clockwork Revolio, Jr. said it best, “It’s like calling me Asia-face”.

I think Red X is a guy who goes by either the name Dave or Joshua. This would be based on the Teen Titans #20 from 1969. Red X has several similarities with Dave/Joshua and both names are actual names that he could have.
For years I been wondering who is Red X, ever since I saw the Old Teen Titian show I tried to find anything about him and eventually I found nothing.
I was like Robin with Red X on my mind.
If ask me personally, nobody will be Red X a forever mystery.
But if Clown Hunter, Jason Tobb or ect become Red X I’ll be happy with it.
I always thought Red X in the Teen Titans cartoon was just a nearly perfect android created by slade to mimic & combat robin.

On the episode x shows a bird fly by while red x and robin were going to team up which could mean he was a robin and robin calls red x selfish a trait that Jason Todd has and when robin was chasing red x this isn’t as big but when they both jumped on the wall to get threw the red lasers they both jump on the wall the same exact way and on teen Titans shorts when beast boy said I still think you are Jason Todd red x closed beast boys mouth with x thingy idk about the last two but these are a couple of ideas that red x could be Jason Todd

I hope his identity could remain a mystery, something about Red X being some mysterious figure that leaves the person watching to have their own theory's is kinda fun and no one knowing who he is adds onto his character and makes him more memorable ya know? That's one of the reasons we still talk about him til this day!

Personally I would love it if they Red X's identity secret for future state. That is the fun of his character and I think it would be amazing for comic readers to be placed in a similar position as ordinary people in the comics. Trying to guess not only who they are but also why they do the things they do.

as a guy who still loves the old teen titans show and red x was definitely one of my favorites I kind of hope they make him his own character even though I like all the theories on who he could be just cause in the one episode he was in he was really well established in terms of character and personality he wasn't good he wasn't bad he just did whatever he wanted and none of the things I have heard here kind of gel with that if he ends up being his own guy I'm down with that

I personally prefer the theory that Red X is Grant Wilson, the son of Slade (Deathstroke).
