One year ago today I lost my mamaw I am so thankful she taught me about our savior Jesus oh how she loved him so and can’t wait until I see her again one day
I was 14 years old the first time I heard this song. There was a lady who sang it in my church. Growing up in a rural community, we didn't get to go to gospel concerts because they were too far away. Everyone called her "Grandma" and when she sang this song, it so touched my heart. This lady is in her late 90's now and still sings this song with just as much conviction as she did back then. It wasn't until years later I found out this song was recorded by The McKameys. I'd give anything to hear "Grandma" sing it with Peg!!!
My 1st time in person to see this great group was in the 80s at The Raleigh Civic Center. They were there with Wendy Bagwell, The Cathedrals, etc..But they brought the house down with this song. LUV The McKameys!
Oh, how I love you so; Peg and all your family. You have no idea how much listening to your songs has helped my faith and my belief. I feel like I have to listen to you everyday. I am so sorry about Carol, I loved her and I miss her, and I know you all do. Her voice was wonderful, especially listening to her singing the verses to "R right on time". I have never met her, but I will get to when I get to heaven. I am going to try to come to your singing at the second babtist church in Clinton, TN June 9th and 10th 19,2017 . I will be praying for God's holy spirit be with you all in your singing. I love your spirit. I know you all are saved and love the Lord. I love ya and don't even know ya, isn't that something. That's the spirit of God's love in our heart. And I am going to try to get my Aunt Cille to come with me, she is lost and she is 82 yrs. old. I have had a burden for her for the last year for her to get saved, and I am praying I can get her there. I believe you all would really help her. Thank you all so much. It's such a blessing I found you all on you tube. God is moving mountains for me;;;;;;;;because I am believing. Love, Mary Morgan
Peg..amazing...My 1st Pastor...Q.C. Rollins @ Tabernacle Baptist Church in Tampa, Fla managed to bring The Mckamey's several times back in the late 70's and early 80's...I was only 10 the first time I got to see em in person...And to this day...I remember and treasure that memory...and Peg...Her brand of 'worship' always stuck with me...Joy incarnate when She sings Praise to THE SON....
Saw them in early 80's in Corbin, KY at a little country church. I was about 13 years old. I recall their big tour bus parked in that little gravel parking lot. I thought Connie was so good looking and her voice is still one of my favorites! They sang the battlefield song that day.
I have been searching for this group for a long time!!!! I remember seeing this group in the 90s & all I could remember was that the lead singer carried a white handkerchief & was animated when she sang!!!!! Love this video!!!!!!
I do love the McKameys. They are up-lifting when I am down. No idea how many times they have sung me out of a slump! Sometime in the 80's I heard the song Changing Mountain Tops. (In Sherwood AR) I've been looking for it for 30 years. If anyone has it, please post on utube. My friends & I have worn out the tapes!

Oh yes, over yonder, is a face I remember still, It's the old fashioned preacher from the church upon the hill. With his Bible I still see him standing there so many times, Telling us about this Heaven that someday I could call mine. But I keep on walking, so many faces more, so many more faces that I am searching for. But I won't have to hurry, I'll take all the time I need, for I am here forever, through all eternity
Had a vision of heaven, what these eyes they did see, As I viewed way up yonder in that sweet eternity. I thought I entered that city and I stopped at the gate, so anxious to enter, I could hardly wait. As I neared that city, Jesus stood at the door, Said, "My child, enter in you are safe forevermore". Want to walk all around to see who I could see, For I have so many loved ones who came ahead of me. Walked on a little farther, who is that I did see? Why, that's the little old lady who many times befriended me, Help me in my sickness and in trouble a helping hand, Why that's her there singing, In the blessed angel band. Walked on a little farther, who is that I did see? Why, that's my Dad and Momma, Who were just ahead of me. I wonder will they know me, they have been gone so long, With a smile they remembered, said, "My child you're welcome home". Walked on a little farther, who is that I did see? Why that's the old beggar who sat upon the street. But he looks so different sitting there around God's throne, I can still hear him singing while the ages roll on. Oh yes, over yonder, is a face I remember still, It's the old fashioned preacher from the church upon the hill. With his Bible I still see him standing there so many times, Telling us about this Heaven that someday I could call mine. But I must keep on walking, so many faces more, so many more faces that I am searching for. But I won't have to hurry, I'll take all the time I need, for I am here forever, through all eternity.
I apologize - He Went A Little Farther was written by James R McComas NOT Perry Stone. The one they sang that HE DID write is "Close To The Cross, But Far From the Blood. Sorry
