What a nice idea to honor a wonderful show and all of its amazing people!!! I hope you can make it happen!!! And I hope you film it for those who can't make it!!
What a wonderful idea for the 40th anniversary! For the many of us fans who are not able to physically attend, perhaps there could be an option to send telegrams to offer our best wishes? 😉 A Happy New Year to you all, and congratulations on your own 5th anniversary of the podcast!
The Case of the 40th Anniversary Celebration. 9.3.24. fav episode? I might have changed my opinion if I get to see it's entire Brett output could well be the last vampyre......
This is a wonderful idea. I hope you lads are able to pull it off. I wish there was some way to get more info on the uncredited extras that were such an indispensable part of the episodes. There must be an absolute trove of anecdotes waiting to be mined there. I think you've hit on a very worthy candidate for the featured screening in "The Blue Carbuncle". That has so many superb characters, including possibly my favorite of them all, Mr. Henry Baker, as played by Frank Middlemass. How fantastic would it be to have Ros Simmons (who went on to be an accent coach, IIRC) or Amelda Brown or Brian Miller there, in-person? An interesting possibility would be having 2 special mystery guests, if you could determine who the child actors were that played John & Jennie Horner's son & daughter, and somehow invite them. I would absolutely _love_ to be able to attend, but would need to find suitable travel accommodations. I will try to book passage aboard the _Norah Creina_ , which I understand is quite a reliable vessel.
Re: the extras... surely there had to have been "regulars" who appeared in multiple episodes. I've always wished I could piece together who some of these were.
That would be a very big, but worthy project. My guess is the closest thing to an accurate answer would lie in a box of accounting receipts at Granada Studios. Likely the receipt of any checks cut would be the only record of the background actors. Brettcon should be a lot of fun and we've got a lot planned. We'll keep sharing more as everything comes together. Hopefully we see you there!
I would also not be able to come out from Washington state. Would there be a possibility of adding a virtual element? Broadcasting panels and presentations, having chat rooms for the long-distance folks to bond? Obviously not the same as attending, but it could loop in a larger swath of the community and maybe lead to making the BAFTA folks realize their criminal negligence.
The Case of the 40th Anniversary Celebration. 9.3.24. most excellent..... I went searching for ghost story for Xmas... and found a theatrical production of the dickens' classic and the gattis stuff. so thsnx....as for Brett con. ummmmmm...... showing cinematic enterprises of various interpretations would be cool (as opposed to the obligatory Brett appreciation)....
Have y'all approached The Sherlock Holmes Society of London? It's a fab idea. Jeremy Brett inspired me to read the Canon. Forever grateful. Do y'all have an email address, please?

If I lived in England instead of the US I'd attend. You are a lifeline between us and Jeremy. Thank you for all you do.
Wow! 🎩 🙌
Omg can't wait. A dream come true

Thank you! And certainly, we are thinking of ways to include the folks that can't attend. We will share more when we can.
The game is afoot!
It most certainly is!
Oh yes!! I live 2 hours from London. I'm in!!
Very excellent! Can't wait to see you there.

:o wow this is amazing and my mind is blown! Sadly there is no way I would be able to make it, but I very much hope this can happen!
Love Sherlock Holmes and Jeremy Brett was creme de la creme, imho
What a fantastic idea! A celebration of the series on this special anniversary would tempt me to make the journey from Ireland.
It's gonna be a party. We need you there!

Is the date 25/5 set in stone!
It is. It turns out to be a bank holiday in the UK as well as the US, so it seemed like a good date.
@@sherlockpodcast Bank holidays are good especially for red-headed men

We are discussing many options and will share as soon as we can. But thank you for your interest!

Are you going to make a poster and T-shirts and sell them here? I would definitely buy it.
I think we must! I hope we see you there!

Wouldn't it be great if they got Jeremy Irons and David Burke to finish the series?

We haven't reached out to them yet. Still in the planning phase to some extent. But our email is contact@sherlockpodcast.com
