When you are in Congleton, in August, with Rob and Lynn, if you have time, you might like to visit Little Moreton Hall, about 3 miles outside of Congleton, on the A34 towards Stoke. It is an Elizabethan Tudor building owned by the NT and an amazing place. Take the guided tour and you will hear about the restoration work involved and many other pieces of information. For those like yourself and Jenny who like visiting such places, it is a fascinating place.
Thank you! I know of Goodrich from reading a novel about William and Joanna de Valence from Elizabeth Chadwick's novel "A Marriage of Lions." Elizabeth also has a William Marshal series. I live in Oregon USA & only see castles on video. I liked the audio tour also.
