    Very nice rig , I've gotta try this out , ...looks like it really has some advantages over the rig , that I had used on my few large shads so far ,........thanks a lot for sharing , Mikko !

    Mikko, perhaps wrapping the rig with a heavy material or pinching a heavy material on to the wire, would streamline the weighting a bit.(just a thought) I do see the benefit of being able to easily swap different weights. Your videos are inspiring. Thank you!

      that method would work too, but i just prefer the way i do it in the video its just so versatile

    Mikko get Knipex cutters. In case if u ever need to cut your hooks when unhooking the fish it will be like cutting a piece of paper with scissors. Of course they are brilliant for all our lure making needs. They cut everything up to 4 mm I think.
    Is it not better to put a metal pin into the body od soft plastic right before the treble then to put the hook into it? Cheers

    hey Mikko, don't you have the problem that the piece of stainless steal wire where you hang your weight and trace wil suffer metal fatique after a lot of pikes? I've had those pieces extra wire but every time I catch a pike it slightly bends en it will edventually be weak and you can snap it of quite eassily.

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +708jelle the 1mm wire that i use on mine has never snapped off or opened on me and i have been fishing with a rig such as this for 2 years now. If you are really worried that you might get into a situation where the weight lock might open or get broken due to metal fatigue just make that loop a closed one and just add the barrel weight to the snap link on you leader instead.

    Isnt it possible that the soft plastic lure can be knocked off the wire and become lost?

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +john smith yes its possible but since i can make them my self and buying them is not really that expensive and it's a hazard that I'm willing to make. The few years that I've used this method I've yet to loose any rubbers from this rig.

    you ever consider putting magnets into the soft plastic to hold the hooks in place?

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Pawel Sawicki thats probably not a very good idea once the pikes tear the soft plastic enough the magnets will just fall off

    • @pavski
      @pavski 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just an idea. Or a hard inside soft outside that slips over

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      the magnet idea would work if you would have it in a capsule inside the lure it self, sort of like storm wild eye has but really this method i use is really the easiest method i've used so far, sometimes less is more ;)
