jon is a dj's dj. he can mix nice and he can do all the tricks as well but essentially you could book him to rock a dance floor and be confident he can do the job. id say if your a young dj starting out or someone older but your mainly focussed on scratching you could learn a lot from him.
Yeah dude. He has the balance of everything just right. I remember watching him get a crowd going with pretty underground music, it was impressive how he built it up slowly.
I know you guys are big room club DJs. I’m mostly a wedding guy but as a turntablist, I make it known the different styles I use to DJ from the first consultation with clients. Having IG social media and mixcloud account are important tools I use and share with clients as well. During the cocktail hour before reception is when I feel out the crowd to see if they are receptive to turntablist tricks. I keep most heavy scratches to transition moments or making big jumps in BPM and or genres. It is important for my style to ensure I have short tasteful routines that fit the vibes I’ve programmed for the evening. Cheers. Great content.
Sick vid Doob, doubly so cos i saw my face :) Super nice dude + Beast DJ = Famous Jon1st. I can't believe how long it's been since he won the dmcs and we were all like wooooo dv.
Ha thanks man. I might start hiding your face in all my vids. Yeah time flies, Jon's been smashing it all this time though to be fair! I hope the TH-cam gods shine on this vid but it might struggle as it's a bit longer than my last few vids 😭
@@BeatsBeneath Lol, don't hide my face, it's my only chance to be secretly famous when you blow up and get 100k subs! People will like this surely, it's top content feat. two bosses? Does it make much difference when they get this long? I watch most things on x2 anyway so it's still short lolz
From an audience perspective, i love when i hear dj's scratching, and im sure alot of other people do too, i just don't scream or shout about it in the crowd. Sometimes if i get the chance to talk to the djs, i'll mention the things i liked about the set. Show my appreciation.
Very cool show.. I bless my turntables everyday... I have even finished with girlfriend's who do not show my turntables respect. Because it has a nice throw over cover. it is not a coffee table lol lol.
Like he said the general public doesn't really care about scratching if youre djing for people who are there to dance and not just there jumping around.
Nice one! great interview. If anyone gets a chance to see Jon1st and Shield, please do! it was an amazing show and really inspiring. a real solid fusion of Djing, Turntablism and Live hardware performance that is an example of progression in sharing electronic music with an audience, in my opinion.
Thanks for having me Si!
Mate, thanks again for coming on. Was a blast! When lockdown ends I'm gonna pitch you with all the other ideas for videos I've got lol

@@itsphilfromtubesday8677 I think Si means using your face like an 'Easter egg'...spot the Phil!
@@harrymoschops Lol. It would crack me up if he blurs out my face in all vids from now, just everyone else normal and my blurry mug
