      Totally agree mate, I was gonna comment pretty much the same. I can't get my head around how a team these days can go from being on a dangerous attack to giving it back to their 'keeper in about three or four passes. Too much fancy coaching shit in today's game I think, and too much Foreign influence.

      Scott Barty I didn’t see your comments before I put mine . Before I pressed play I couldn’t remember the result . It’s always good to see your country win so pleased but I used to get a buzz watching the home internationals . There should be a campaign to bring them back .

    One of the best saves ever made by Ray Clemence. 😲👏👏👏

  • @musicplateau1
    @musicplateau1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Ray Clemence was a great keeper, that reflex save early in the game showed just what he could do week in week out. A lot of today's players and managers aren't really old enough to have witnessed what he did in the game back then, but let me tell you he was quick, a shot stopper and good off his line. This from a proud Evertonian, rest in Peace Ray.

    I was fortunate to see all these players when i was a kid in the 80's. I got to see John Wark as well when he was playing for Ipswich in 1997 (i'm a Birmingham Fan) and the guy was just pure quality and was head and shoulders above everyone on the pitch and if my memory serves, was playing as a sweeper/centre half, just terrific.

    I was one of a few English fans at this game as a 17 year old. Very scary experience. We moved at halftime after threats from Scottish fans. It was so packed our feet could barely touch the ground. This was the era when England struggled so much to qualify for the WC. IDT it was due to a lack of talent, just the style they played. Keegan was just about the best player we had then. I think he would still be a great player today.

      @@gsf67 i played in goal before ... people remember us for the mistakes and not the saves...alex ferguson in his autobiography did mention that in the 1-1 draw vs Wales that got Scotland to world cup play off....Rough was not the greatest goalkeeper but a jovial character that calmed the Scotland team who lost Jim Leighton and trailing 0-1. Maybe due to lack of competition, Rough earned 53 caps. He played for a long time and probably a decent keeper who sometimes lost concerntrate and made memorable mistakes. I think Dundee Utd's Billy Thompson was also very good but one Leighton emerged in 1983...Rough had to play second fiddle.
