It broke my heart to hear Peter talking about how he knew people didn’t like these movies and how he considered it a personal failure if people saw a movie they didn’t enjoy...I absolutely loved the hobbit trilogy and still will. I just wanna give him a hug
I just now finished all three a few moments ago for only the 9,000th time ever. People who don't like the movies I'd encourage them to go watch something else. I love everything in these movies.
I really love the Hobbit, these movie that I actually watch first and know first than lotr (I'm 20 y.o) it's awesome movies, the story, scenery, character, actor These trilogy makes me more interested with jrr Tolkien novel/books
ahaha ON WITH THE "ARMITAGE ARMY" and anyway.. what was that lady elf always looking at Rich for, ehehhh??????? =___= great cast...!! great films, great director and last but not least GREAT BOOKS
Hey it's 2021! I was 2 years old when the Lord of the rings released and I'm 13 years old when The Hobbit was filmed and I'm 23 years old now. Peter and Ian was right. We watched this movies in a new experience. I really loved it. I cried when I finished all the six movies. It's feels like I'm part of the movie.
Coming back to watch this interview again after so long was a joy. Sir Ian McKellen especially never failed to put a smile on my face with his words being as iconic as Gandalf's themselves. It was a privilege to be able to experience the classic world of Tolkien and Middle Earth visibly, and Peter Jackson, as well as everyone involved both on and off camera, have never failed to do the books justice, no matter what some people say about the Hobbit trilogy. This journey has been as eventful as the Quests themselves, and it will never truly be at an end. Hopefully one day we will be able to see the extensive tales such as the Silmarillion performed to an equally effective extent, but for now at least I feel I can be content with the amount of love and dedication put into both the writing of the books and the creative, difficult adaptation of them.
Thank you Peter Jackson and all the actors, and the crews, for creating the Hobbit movie and Lotr movie. I know there are haters out there who are disappointed with the hobbit, I still consider it a good movie along with Lotr.
Thanks for putting this up, I adore lee pace, he's one of my favs since ever i started watching The hobbit, I always had that more attention side to him. His character as "King Thranduil" Is The Top of them all. If i ever Had the chance to meet Lee pace, It would Make my life Better. I literally meant it.
Hi chain sou, so glad you enjoyed the video and hope you get a chance to meet Lee Pace one day! :) In the meantime you can see our short interview with him at the premiere th-cam.com/video/-zDEwLkRcu8/w-d-xo.html
32:35 i’m going into movies and production design because of the effect that these particular trilogies had on me growing up and still have to this day. i’m going to school for it and work in whatever i can wherever i can. i found my passion through these. peter is doing it right.
Peter, we want to see those deleted scenes, unused for the Extended edition of the Lord of the Rings : - Fellowship of the Ring : additional footage from the Battle of the Last Alliance (and maybe add Lee Pace’s Thranduil into it), an extended Council of Elrond (dialogue from the Council of Elrond, such as Gandalf explaining how Sauron forged the One Ring) - The Two Towers : Arwen and Elrond visiting Galadriel at Lothlórien, Conversation between Elrond and Arwen in a library in Rivendell, after Arwen decides to wait for Aragorn. Elrond leaves saying “You gave away your life’s grace. I cannot protect you anymore” - Return of the King : further epilogue footage, with endings for Legolas and Gimli, Éowyn and Faramir's wedding and Aragorn's death and funeral. Also, to give context for Wormtongue killing Saruman, and Legolas in turn killing Wormtongue, it was to be revealed Wormtongue poisoned Théodred. The final scene cut was Aragorn having his armour fitted for the Battle of the Black Gate by the trilogy's armourers, which was the final scene filmed during principal photography, and others. We know you stated that you would like to include some of these unused scenes in a future "Ultimate Edition" home video release, also including out-takes. It would be great if you would be able to revisit the cut of all 6 movies in the near future, do an "ultimate cut" of the 6 movies and integrate those scenes I mentioned back in the movies (instead of deleted scenes). You would also be able to reshoot the "Bilbo finding the Ring" scene from Fellowship of the ring, replace gollum from the shadowy scene in the Mines of Moria (from Fellowship), add more Balrog vs Gandalf fight (as you wished in the first place when you thought about the sequence but you didn't have the means and budget for it at the time), integrate Thranduil in the Battle of the Last Alliance, etc. (as did George Lucas with Star Wars afterwards). Cheers! :D
Nobody could have played Bilbo Baggins but Martin Freeman- his expressions, just everything about him so relatable, funny, cute, honorable and a Barrel-rider. Love him & that character he created.
Martin Freeman and Billy Bloyd are very similar in terms of looks and their characters also have a bit of similarity. Hobbit and Lord of the Rings are such a amazing films and they won't be forgotten. This cast is amazing. Yes Bilbo got happy ending despite the fact that he needed his belongings back but his quest didn't claim life from him like Frodo did. Bilbo was able to settle back into his old life but Frodo couldn't, He went through too much torment and suffering. Ring claimed a lot of things from. From Hobbit I guess that my favourite is the Battle of Five Armies and from Lord of the Rings it's Two Towers however it's hard to pick 1 from both Hobbit and Lord of the Rings because all films were amazing. Wonderful music and all of these beautiful locations. I don't know but this beautiful story and I love how it been made. I don't care which character was in book or not.
To all Lord of the Rings fans! Do we want this movie back in the theaters again? Do we want to feel they joy that we had back then? Do we want the nostalgia back in our souls? Do we want to make more people happy for what we have had back then? If The Titanic will reappear in 3D why not as well The Lord of the Rings? If you love this amazing movie, post it on every LOTR video to announce that this saga is NOT DEAD. IT SHALL NOT KNOW THIS TERM! Who is with me?COME, ON! LETS GET THIS THING ROLLING RIGHT NOW! SPREAD THE WORD! POST THIS EVERYWHERE SO EVERY TOLKIENITE MAY SEE IT! MIDDLE EARTH WILL SEE THEATERS AGAIN, ONE LAST TIME!!
AS part of the laketown clan me my hubby and 4 children on set at laketown what a privilege it twas to be immersed with these incredible actors artist s and filmies right here in middle earth we were all so lucky to be a part of a forever adventure woven especially our childrens lives ....what a buzz looking so forward to seeing the extended version and our bullocks were beorns bullocks so seeing them everyday reminds me of his rare breed nature ....that was a fantastic interview such down to earth ,,middle earthers cast and crew
The movie is so awesome that I watched twice! (And still not enough) haha. I grew up with Lotr and have the whole set of DVDs at home. I seriously love all the casts and so glad that some of them are able to continue their roles in The Hobbit. I definitely love Thranduil in this movie. Lee Pace is perfect for that role like really. Legolas is as cool and beautiful like 11yrs ago as elf. I love everything about these trilogies. Thanks Peter Jackson, the crews and casts for everything ;)
The tolkien estate must allow another movie one of these days, for the sake of all their fans =) Please Sir Peter J. make the Silmarillion or other Middle earth movie(s) =) and thank you for everything so far ! I'm looking forward for the the hobbit 3, seems completely mindblowing with all the battles :D Will the battle be comparable to the battle of the return of the king ? its a difficult task but maybe it will :P
Joao Diogo The movie was captured in 48 FPS (you should be able to find screenings in both that or 24 FPS), but not in IMAX, as far as I'm aware. IMAX cinemas are screening the film though. Hope that helps! :-)
EDIT:EDIT: Watched it again in January 2nd ! =D Dunno why but I liked even more to watch it for the second time :P! Maybe because I could focus in some details and reasons for some events that I wasn't able to notice/understand when I saw it for the first time. A really awesome film. In my opinion this was the best of the three, even though all the movies of the trilogy are formidable! :D
Peter when I was in college in 1966 through 68 the Lord of the Rings came out and I devoured it and then the Hobbit came out after that. It’s so funny how the books and now your movies were reversed but somehow ironic I remember, enjoying the Lord of the Rings more than the Hobbit and glad that they came out first as I might not have been so anxious to read the LOTR afterwards. Then I read the whole series every 10 years or so. I’ve got to say you really nailed it. My imagination was never betrayed as I watched your movies and your actors and actresses were so spot on. I just adore them all especially Bilbo, Frodo and Gandalf. Thank you so much for making the films and don’t you ever for a moment feel anything but pride at what you have done. These movies will live on as long as there is a way to show them. You are just so adorable. I must say it was great to see you work yourself into the movies ala Alfred Hitchcock. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your life. You definitely deserve it.😘
Am I the one who thinks the lady directing the questions is a bit pushy and trying to rush through some of the questions. I got that feel after one person asked a question that was for the whole cast but she said "please pick one person we don't have time and have a lot of questions to get through" or at least something along those lines. It seemed a little rude.
Sadly she did what she had to do...keep things moving. This way you can get through as many questions as possible for the fans sake, otherwise things could drag on. With CC or any of these types of question/answer panels, you have to have someone who can take control or you'd have one hot mess. I think she handled it brilliantly...and I'm sure the cast thought so too. It's nice to get as many questions in as possible and have as many on the panel answer as well.
I thought so. She was doing what she had to do,of course. But she was acting hard. For example she said " Martin, have you finished ?" and her behaviors towards the journalists or whatever.. anyway she was being rude
It honestly could just be me, but P. Jackson seems SO over all the attention, the "thank-you"s, the praise, and most of these questions. He seems to be exuding exhaustion, impatience, and boredom more than anything else. I don't want to sound accusatory; the whole thing must get redundant after ~15 years. It's just unfortunate that he can't seem to enjoy it all more at this point. Great interview, regardless! Awesome line-up of people!
He just finished three movies that were filmed in a row + getting ready for the premiere of the last one. That means that he barely had any sleep throughout this whole time. You would seem annoyed and ,,over it" too in his place :)
I would love to see Peter direct "the hunt for Gollum" and " Born of Hope" there are allot of stories that could be told without ever going into the copyrighted area that the Tolkien family are with holding from the film industry. Just stories based within the Hobbit and Lord of the rings time frames.
9:16 and they did a wonderful job at that. I was 10 when the battle of five armies came out but I’m just watching the movies now and I’m watching the hobbit movies before the lord of the rings, and the lord of the rings feels like a sequel to the hobbit rather that the hobbit being the prequel in all the best ways. (I would go into further detail but I don’t like typing)
I love that word ... "anthropomorphize". Trust Andy Serkis to utilize it within his vocabulary. 😂 Seriously though, the guy is one of Hollywood's greats.
Well we have seen The Lord of the Rings triology, and the Hobbit as well, i would like to see they make at least one more triology but like more about the dwarfes and elves and their rival, and all happening in the same timeline as the lord of the rings, there are so small info of dwarfes even lesser the elves, it would be so amazing and the top peak of Tolkiens journey to see that kind of triology...
It broke my heart to hear Peter talking about how he knew people didn’t like these movies and how he considered it a personal failure if people saw a movie they didn’t enjoy...I absolutely loved the hobbit trilogy and still will. I just wanna give him a hug
I ADORE THE HOBBIT MOVIES AND THINK THEYRE PERFECT
I totally love the hobbit movies even more than LotR. So well done ❤️
I just now finished all three a few moments ago for only the 9,000th time ever. People who don't like the movies I'd encourage them to go watch something else. I love everything in these movies.
I really love the Hobbit, these movie that I actually watch first and know first than lotr (I'm 20 y.o) it's awesome movies, the story, scenery, character, actor
These trilogy makes me more interested with jrr Tolkien novel/books
*LOVED IT* as well.
I am a chronic watcher of these 6 movies. I have never been bored. Every scene is exciting.
Same .
I really hoped the one word that sums up the experience for Andy Serkis would be 'precious'.
selin t haha, yes, that would have even more brilliant! :-)
I love Martin's aggressiveness lol

The only good part about Hobbit
Hey it's 2021! I was 2 years old when the Lord of the rings released and I'm 13 years old when The Hobbit was filmed and I'm 23 years old now. Peter and Ian was right. True, it really has been a part of our whole lives right? :)

Omg Martin! I love this man so much, his sense of humour is exquisite. :)

Peter's reaction when Richard says Pinot Noir. Well Richard is known for his liking of wine.
richard armitage is a giant in real life...
I'm not the only one crying, I'm not the only one crying!
We need more The Hobbit movies WITH THIS CAST!!!!😭
Want. To. See. More. Middle. Earth. “The Tale of Beren and Lúthien” “Unfinished Tale” AND “The Silmarillion”
And children of hurin
The Hobbit wouldn't be the same for me if the Tauriel character wasn't created, Evangeline Lilly you're the best!
I love Lee

Lol Orlando Bloom really is an Elf, he doesn't look like he's aged at all. Which can be good, especially in acting.
As soon as I get the extended Battle of five armies DVD, I'm watching all of them
The tolkien estate must allow another movie one of these days, for the sake of all their fans =)
Please Sir Peter J. make the Silmarillion or other Middle earth movie(s) =) and thank you for everything so far !
I'm looking forward for the the hobbit 3, seems completely mindblowing with all the battles :D

A really awesome film. In my opinion this was the best of the three, even though all the movies of the trilogy are formidable! :D
25:00 Really love his answer here, he put that into words really well

I was waiting for Andy to burst out at the end, in his golem voice saying, "PRECIOUSSSS"
such a wasted opportunity :P
I'm not late, i just want to say Martin is fu..ing amazing !!!
Once a Smeagol, always a Smeagol, Andrew Serkis!

Good seeing that Ian McKellen was able to be there.

I loved this movie ( The hobbit) alooooot every time i watch it i see something special in it and enjoy watching it love you alllllll 🌻🌻
Thank you Peter for directing the Hobbit you did a great job
thank you Petes and the rest of the Crew for creating wonderful reasons for me to carry on LIVING.
He just finished three movies that were filmed in a row + getting ready for the premiere of the last one. That means that he barely had any sleep throughout this whole time. You would seem annoyed and ,,over it" too in his place :)
Emmay864 I agree.. cut Peter a break. He's more tired and exhausted than you can imagine and he's still there answering random questions.
I would love to see Peter direct "the hunt for Gollum" and " Born of Hope" there are allot of stories that could be told without ever going into the copyrighted area that the Tolkien family are with holding from the film industry. Just stories based within the Hobbit and Lord of the rings time frames.
what about second breakfast?
Omg! Peter is soo sweeeat! His reaction when he was called byname like hmmm🤣
Loved listening to all their thoughts and I wish they had been so rushed!
5:34 listen to Ian in the background LMFAO
Thank God! Peter Jackson came back and finish up the story
Martin at 33:34
LOL
The cast is just rock solid.

Funny how no one was interested in Orlando Bloom. He had to make up his own question to answer...

23:00 😂 His face and the zoom in! Hahaha!
