Welcome To Can I Beat Pokemon emerald with only a wurmple or must i say DESTROYING the hoenn region with a wurmple! We always see solo runs that are possible but wurmple has one of the worst base stat totals ever and only has acces to 3 moves tackle, poison sting and string shot. And are these moves going to be enough to carry us through the entire hoenn region? let's find out!

Drugged up
You could probably beat Tate & Liza by going in with 0 PP on Poison Sting and String Shot, and the minimum amount of Tackles you need to beat Xatu. That way, you would have Struggle for Solrock and Lunatone, which is not resisted and can 2HKO both Solrock and Lunatone without crits, and OHKO them with a crit. If you can crit Solrock, you'll get to Lunatone with a good amount of health, and can probably beat both it and Claydol. It requires a lot of luck but is almost certainly possible
In the end it doesn’t really matter because Phoebe walls you anyway :((

It is so hard to believe that a wurmple defeated Steven stone
A few weeks ago, I also did a wurmple-only challenge in Emerald. Back then, I didn't know zwiggo also did this. I was inspired by his video "Destroying Pokémon Fire Red With A Caterpie!".
Here are my rules:
1. Only use one wurmple in battles. You must use the same wurmple until the challenge is completed. You are allowed to use other pokemons for travelling with TMs/HMs.
2. Using items in battles is not allowed.
3. Held items are not allowed.
4. No trading.
I couldn't remember some other details but here it is...
Just like zwiggo, I picked an adamant wurmple, named it "SUECRA", and farmed EVs from poochyenas. Raising it was seriously time-consuming. I've been mostly using struggle since the first gym leader.
Here are some stuff you might need to know about "struggle" in gen 3:
- It is a normal type move but it can hit ghost types.
- It will always inflict neutral damage.
- It can hit through wonder guard.
- It will always inflict recoil damage which is 1/4 of the damage dealt to the target.
- It does not get any benefit from STAB.
- It picks a random target in a double battle.
I defeated Roxanne at level 36, Wattson at level 56, Flannery at level 69, and Norman at level 70. I forgot to record the other trainers. I had the same problem as zwiggo when it came to the twins. Two psychic rock types are just way too much even for a level 100 wurmple with the following stats:
- HP: 246
- Attack: 202
- Defense: 112
- Sp. Attack: 48
- Sp. Defense: 90
- Speed: 77
And I'm not saying that winning is unlikely... I'm saying it's impossible. I've tried it countless times and I've run the numbers. Even if you somehow managed to always inflict a critical hit with struggle, you will never make it past solrock and lunatone. Someone is gonna use calm mind every now and then. It's just a matter of time before you lose your sanity. Items are totally necessary. I hope someone will prove me wrong.
From that point, I had to use items in major battles. And yeah, I ended up beating the champion with a drugged up bug.
How to beat Pokemon Emerald: Have your neighbor give you a caterpillar
2: E.
3: beat up a bunch of people
4: Scare the strongest trainer in the game
5: get your caterpillar up to snuff
6: make the champion get bad** and win
7: yay

Also ye. Kingdra is annoying with it's only weakness being dragon but Tate and Liza always gave me more trouble.

Fun fact: The AI is not stupid.
It is programed to give you the win to satisfy the player after some struggling time.
He never mentioned trying to run out his pp so he could sweep with struggle. Or does that not count?

With Leftovers or Silk Scarf it might be possible to pass Tate&Liza.
And besides that, you can use Struggle with Leftovers, you do more damage than with your other moves (specially on Solrock).
Yeh I get the whole not using items thing but using held items i think has skill expression in it because it is a part of pregame routing n figuring out which items are required here
@@nateschendel4585 Leftovers needs to have a level 81 Zigzatoon with Pick-up. It's very long to train and not that much fun to do ^^
Anyway, about Double Battle, the other problem with Struggle is that the target is randomly chosen ^^'

They also pick up rare candies alot so realistically its 65 to 70 n then you use the candy man

I feel like this run would end at Flannery, because even if you can outspeed the torkoal, you cant one shot it and it uses overheat and you just die. Even if you somehow get past Flannery, Winona just destroys you.
