- Aired (October 18, 2020): Initially, some residents of Santander, Cebu moved to the cities for better employment opportunities. But as businesses declined due to the pandemic, most of them had to come back to spearfishing-one of the main sources of livelihood in their community. Watch this video!

I've been visiting pasil santander because of my best friend is living there. The officials are really hands on and cares for their marine life unlike oslob which they overfeed whale sharks. Santander has clear water and scenic view of Sumilon island and i love pebble beach too.
I'm not from Oslob but I have to correct you for saying Oslob people overfeed the whale sharks. First of all, sharks go to Oslob not to be fed by human. They go there to feed by themselves because that area is a breeding ground for shrimp-like crustaceans called krills, their main diet. Didn't you notice that for the past 5 months when feeding was stopped, the whale sharks still went there? That in early September when Gov. Garcia allowed the Oslob attraction to reopen, the sharks are still there. That only proves that the whale sharks still go to Oslob waters even without the human feeding them.

Beautiful Area, i really liked it there and work for six Month in one of the Diveresorts. Also i filmed the Sharks in Basil Area Underwater earlier this year short before covid comes and we need to go back to Europe... so sad and i hope i can go back soon ☺️
For me it look like the Blacktip Reef Sharks come over from Sumilon Island to give Birth to the babys cos the first days i go there there was manly big females and a few days later more and more Little ones and no more pregnant females.
Also i saw two tines pregnant Whit tip reef sharks more south (near Santander Highschool)
Really good area for Scuba Diving but sadly many Fishing with a big trawl net direct in Front of the resorts...

Talagang tao ang may problema. Kasi noong wala ng tourista na bumibisita sa mga marine sanctuary sa south cebu last year makakakita ka ng mga maraming isda na lumalangoy sa dagat kahit nga mga shark ay dumadayo na ulit.. naghirap man ang mga tao malaki nman ang naidulot na ginhawa sa kalikasan
