    Wow a new find for me!!!!! I learned so much just from checking the lessons once. I can't wait to find the time to do it another 100 times. You are an amazing player I know and have met some of the best in the world, and you are right up there with them

      Hi Mark, thank you for this and I appreciate it-very kind of you. I am still putting my back catalogue of discs up but there is a lot up there so far and I have an ongoing chord series called "The Chord Book" too which I add to here regularly as well as some shorts. All my compositions are on another channel as well. Let's stay in touch Mark!!!

    Thanks Scott! I've been thinking about getting and working with the Slom book for many years but you just sold me! You may be familiar with some of my friends such as David Sancious, Steve Davidowlski ( Dixie Dregs first keyboardist ) and my dear late friend the great Yusef Lateef! If my income improves I may be in touch with you for some advanced guidance. Great video Scott!!!

    Hey Man very cool,
    Ive started tackling my Slominski book and of course it’s a game changer,
    For both your ears and hands.
    It’s so helpful when some like yourself shares their insights into this amazing book.
    Great chops, l sometimes find fast playing can sound nervous and unmusical.
    You sound fast and musical, like John McLaughlin. Kudos

    Had a blast creating lines with this pattern just now! It´s very nice to notice that using your A note example (as a starting tone of the 6 note pattern) you can create nice lines over 7 chords with two approaches. If i gather your example and think of the four 7th chords on the A dominant diminished scale (a7, c7, eb7, gb7) i get for a7 and eb7= R b9 #9 #11 5 6 For c7 and gb7 i get = R #9 3 #11 6 b7. Hence, you can apply this pattern over 7th chords starting on the root or on the 6th and get different tensions.

      Hi Carlos, Thank you for this and glad you like the material and find it of interest. In terms of recommending the book itself I suppose it might be worth checking out but the material is definitely "out there" if that makes sense and very 20th Century Modernist in outlook. If that is your thing then definitely. Perhaps snoop around a bit, check out some sample pages and then go from there. Thank you again Carlos and let's stay in touch. Scott M.

      @@mtstyre7768 thank you so much for your answer, Scott. I believe many phrases I've heard on TH-cam can be useful for metal. The sequence you played can be related to bands like Death and Cynic. I think it can be useful for some prog metal ideas. Currently, I've been working on Frank Gambale technique book. • @mtstyre7768
      @mtstyre7768  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hold the pick in a fairly standard manner between the thumb and index finger. Not sure if the pick slants for linear playing. I use a combination of forearm and wrist for lines depending on the sound and dynamics needed. Benson is brilliant always-a true artist.

    hi, there I will check out the slonimsky book , I just glimpsed through it . I'm 57 and am not a pro but I jam with friend Glenn, and can not stop my studies it's insane I have never made a dime off of playing it's always been like that , in the 80's the rock bands I was in never made money . I always quit because I wanted to learn more . Do you have a DVD set out , committing to skype lessons is not easy cause of health reasons that I hope can be resolved soon . loved the video , will use my slonimsky book .your band video,s are great ,took me a couple of seconds for my ears get grounded on some of them .

    Really digging the atonal ideas -- reminds me of Ron Jarzombek. I took one of the six note ascending sequences you outlined and slapped this thing together: soundcloud.com/modusjonens/on-the-threshold-of-the-thirty-seventh-chamber
